There's quite a few references to the Advent Children movie, which would lead me to believe that this Sephiroth might be from that future timeline. Somehow, he's back again, and he's trying to alter his fate.
    Some examples are:
Cloud grabbing his left arm in pain because of geo-stigma, which doesn't affect him until Advent Children.
Sephiroth's black wing was never in the OG game but first appeared in the movie.
The three whisper you fight towards the end have similar if not the same weapons as Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo.

@@agamersinsanity Aerith also claimed that its impossible to remove sephiroth from the lifestream, and he can't be killed because of his link with jenova. For all intents and purposes, Jenova might not be able to actually do anything now but the implication is that she's kind of driffting around the lifestream like a parasite never truly dying, same as sephiroth. Aerith said she was going to drift around the lifestream for a while and not naturally merge into it to fight him or so the implication was but eventually she won't really be able to fight it anymore and become a natural part of the planets lifestream.
For all purposes, the planet itself is basically omniscient, Which means that it has all knowledge of future events and past events. So in a weird way The sephiroth that we are seeing might be the sephiroth from this timeline still, and the aeirth that we see might be not Aerith from the original timeline when she appears in spirit form but like some kind of antibody that the lifestream created to fight the Spectors and also stop sephiroth because his memories of him being defeated would have been accessed by him because of the fact his body is currently just soaking in a hole in the lifestream.

Jessie's bomb did destroy the reactor. It was designed to blow up just that small core. Shinra destroyed the whole complex to make it seem like it was larger and actual kill people to paint them as villains to the public.
In the OG Jessie actually says she didn't think the bomb she made would be that big, implying either she didn't know what she was doing or that something else was at play.
Cloud had met and talked with Tifa before the mission. How else do you think he got the job. Barret even confirms it in the opening mission multiple times. They just never really took time to catch up that much, or they already had some conversations, which is why Cloud isn't afraid to ask for his money once he finishes the job.
The whisper speaking to Cloud when he sleeps is actually the voice of Sephiroth trying to keep him from waking up and going on the mission while the other spirits are trying to make it so Cloud DOES go on the mission.
There are 2 forces controlling the s the planet, the other is Sephiroth. Sephiryoh throught remake is constantly testing what he can and can't change. This is why he kills barret, why he shows up to Cloud so often, Why he releases a Jenova spawn in the Shinra tower. He is seeing the extent of his power. Which is what leads him to lead the party to destroy fate and set him free.

The movie Advent Children is a sequel to the original game. Sephiroth has been defeated more than once by Cloud, but he refuses to give up. Advent Children or future Sephiroth is using the lifestream to try to change his fate. When future Sephiroth shows up after the bombing explosion, he is trying to lure Cloud away from meeting Aerith. The hollows ensure Aerith stays put until Cloud arrives. In the end of remake, you actually help Sephiroth. Now there is confusion here. Did future Sephiroth possess his past timeline self? or are there now 2 Sephiroth in this timeline? Another question asked is "was Aerith talking with her future self in the intro?"

9:50 There is an entire FF7 universe out there, and if u play FF7:Ever Crisis u will experience that that was not the first time that Tifa and Cloud met in Midgar after 5 years. After Zack dies and Clouds ends up in Midgar's streets like a hobo, he gets found by Tifa. Tifa introduces him to the Avalanche and that is how he gets his job as a mercenary.
Therefore Tifa and Cloud had several discussions with each other at that point and was not their first meeting in 5 years.

Great video! Hell House was the first game over I got in a Final Fantasy ever. I'll hopefully publish a video about that monster soon.
As far as a personal theory, this is more of an observation. In Advent Children, a reborn Sephiroth asks Cloud what he cherishes. Cloud responds with "there's not a thing I don't cherish" as in "I cherish everything".
Fast forward to FF7R when Cloud is falls into Sector 5 he gets knocked out and has a vision of Sephiroth. Cloud asks who Sephiroth is because he can't see him, he's behind Cloud, and Sephiroth replies, "I am your everything."
So while I can't go more in depth, there's a definite connection with this being more of a Remaquel game. I also find it interesting that Sephiroth absorbed all of the Whispers in Chapter 18.

Given the background, I can understand how you cane to a few interesting but weird conclusions in episode 2... I am Koniving and i am a former youtuber. Ive been wanting to do a video on ff7, but lack the time or patience to make an edit one but would be more than happy to discuss it with you for a future video of yours. I'll cover a few interesting bits here.
In the OG, we get exclusively the prrspective of avalanche in regards to the bomb. Jessie -- in the 7th heaven basement -- states that she followed the instructions exactly, and she cant understand what went wrong. We dont get a hint as to where the instructions came from, however. There is a bunch of cut content, including Jessie's story and more Shinra. It was cut, due to a train bombing somewhat close to release. Learning about the reasons behind a bomber on a train seemed like bad optics.
In remake, we are actually told she used a bigger blasting agent than the instructions called for, indicating that Jessie saw this bomb wouldnt be enough to do the job without it, and went for the bigger bomb. However, the intention for the bomb was to fry its ability to run temporarily. They never had ambitions to truly blow it up the way that they did.
Sephiroth -- in the OG there is cut xontent that the first encounter with Sephiroth was actually in the elevator to 7th heaven, where when you go down to the basement, Cloud loses consciousness.
Back at reactor one there was a voice warning about the reactor. This voice in the ultimania omega is supposed to be Zack warning Cloud; it was originally a much larger scene but it hinted too early about Cloud's unreliable narrator status.
So in remake, Zack is removed and instead we have our first allusion to Sephiroth. From this moment on, every reference meant to be from Zack according to the ultimania omega (written by Nomura who was the director of remake), is instead replaced by more appearances by Sephiroth suggesting that dead Zack has already been removed from Cloud's mind.
Alsp curious, Sephiroth shows up and redirects us away from the others in such a way that ensures Cloud meets Aerith, and whispers did not guide him to this. If Cloud kept going he would have met up with Barret anf the others, and would have passed in front of a city-government building, implying some of the political world building we have been seeing in remake and rebirth.
Also, Sephiroth does not deny being killed. Except in the original, and every version ever with every change done to the Nibelheim scene, one thing is always made clear, Sephiroth does not die in his plunge to the lifestream. And yet, Sephiroth does not deny dying, and even Cloud hesitates, as if suddenly realizing he had somehow killed Sephiroth at some point. Sephiroth's first/only death is at the end of FF7 OG. The scene is immediately followed by a song from the advent children movie which deals specifically with uncertainty.

    • @Koniving
      @Koniving 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Roche's appearance ties very loosely into cut content about a soldier encounter, and Jessie's cut story due to the train bombing event in real life.
What you are supposed to take from it is the appearance of the avalanche old guard, which was present in Before Crisis and will be very important to the Zack side of the story in Rebirth. An avalanche civil war takes place between Zack's intended death and Cloud meeting Tifa. During this time a big event happens that may permanently doom the planet regardless of what is done in ff7 OG, as Red says, the OG ending is "what will happen if we fail."
      --- Whispers.
Note, in every language, the voice of the whisper are always that language's voice actor for Sephiroth. Keeping Cloud asleep may prevent Cloud from joining them to reactor 5. Insert whisper panic. The whispers need Cloud to arrive. However, four specific whispers often depicted in Sephiroth key art, do not want you to get there.

    • @Koniving
      @Koniving 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Back to Aerith Cloud Sephiroth...
Note Aerith's eyes do not focus on anything, she acts as if swatting a swarm of flies, she has no idea where they are. She can feel them but not see them. It isn't until she touches Cloud, her eyes wide with realization and she shifts her focus to lock onto one then another, asking "what are they?"
From this moment on, anyone Cloud physically has had contact with, in a cutscene or in the case with Rufus during a combat animation Rufus touches Cloud... Anyone that has touched Cloud can see the whispers.

There's a little detail you forget about Tifa and Cloud at the beginning of FF7: Tifa and Cloud weren't actually very close friends. Before Cloud left Nebilheim, Tifa and Cloud, as children, barely knew each. Cloud was a social outcast and wanted to be friends with Tifa, but was bullied out of almost every attempt at getting close to her, until Tfa's mom died. She got in her head she could see her again if she went to the reactor. When she got a bridged, it collapsed and Cloud likely intervened in such a way that ends up saving her. Unfortunately, everyone blamed Cloud for the event and not Tifa. After both recovering from the fall, Cloud's had enough, and has that scene with Tifa where he tells he he's going to leave to join SOLDIER.
So, when she recalls events from the past, she's misremembering in only that one event and she's indebted to him somehow. She does not know Cloud was part of the Nebilheim event, and far as she knows, was saved by Zack.
Cloud being stand offish as he were shouldn't be too surprising, but he does have a thing for her, so he sticks around.

One thing I dislike about ff7r is that it tries to play the fence way too much. The reality is that ff7r is the entry point for a lot of new FF players. The point of FF7 was never about Cloud vs Sephiroth for the most part. Sephiroth didn't even know who the Frick Cloud even was. He was just a copy destined to give over the black materia. Cloud was a nobody who had the strength all along. This remake suffers from Darth Vader syndrome in my opinion. A character ruined by popularity. Now both Cloud and Sephiroth are chosen ones and I feel for new players, the core message of life and cherishing it along with its mental health messages will get lost in the spectacle
