Had a chance to do a small job of recoating over shingles. The shingles were warn and some were missing from the wind. We rolled on a primer first let it dry about 3 hours then we rolled on the top coat. we do this to extended the live of the roof. There is no tear off or any more holes put in the exciting roof. stay cool and stay sexy
I have lived in the US all my life, but I have traveled to a few different countries. In all the country’s that I have been in I fell in love with the republic, (Philippines) the food, people and the culture not to mention the provinces and mountains. Thai land coming in second. I love to travel and see all what a new place has to offer. I love the outdoors so a lot of my videos will be about nature that includes human nature when I can get it. So come alone with me on my adventures, and my everyday life. Hope you find some of my adventures insisting to you. Some of the beast adventures are not climbing Mount Everest but just everyday life as we humans strive to be better people and co exists and survive on this planet.

This is cool. We install something similar so yeah it will work when done correctly. Two things to consider: Your shingle warranty will be voided so check that out first (rarely do they follow through) second insurance companies do not like this and may not cover any loss if water damage is present or occurs after the install.

What's your perspective on applying up in northern climates like Michigan? Are you only applying in southern dry climates? Are you using the Conklin Prime Time as the primer? Which Uniflex products are you using, the Premium Elastomertic Roof Coating or Silicone? What's your take on the silicone roof coatings? Thanks for sharing!

Shingle coating is an excellent product, and despite what roofers say, it greatly extends the life of your roof. I wouldn't recommend using a roller to apply it though. A pressure paint gun is better because it essentially guarantees to fill in between the shingles. The roller has the tendency of pulling up the applied asphalt armour as you roll back and forth with it, but overall you did a great job.

Will this work if shingles are already starting to seperate and grit is coming off? To be more specific, roof got hail damage when I noticed the grit all over the ground. Since then I have been losing a shingle or two every now and then from wind or real heavy rain.

I had applied Henry's roof saver on my roof (total 25 gallon cans). This stuff is like elmer's glue and goes on thin. But after one year I went up the roof and found so many loose granules. I don't think it will last even couple of years. Need much thicker coating like elastomer or silicon based.

@@ForeignLifestylestory Seems like regular elastomer roof coating ($70-$120) sold in big box stores should work fine? These were meant for flat roof, not shingles, but I don't see why they wouldn't work as they stand up to sun and wether well. I saw one video on youtube showing a guy paint his roof with tropicool by Henry (pretty expensive $250/5 gallon) and he said it turned out great. So, if Elastomeric paint (which does have some Acrylic in it) is stronger and thicker and lasts longer - does it dry as thin as an straight Acrylic paint? Process of 1 coat of primer and 1 coat of Elastomer or.... 1 coat of primer and one coat of straight Acrylic.
Also, I didn't hear of any mention of fabric over the seams in the video. If I were to choose between the two methods, I'm presuming the cost savings in doing it this way as compared to having to replace all the shingles is pretty substantial?

Car tires are designed to roll over the road, you are saying that roofs are designed to roll over the road too?. Nobody knows if it works or not. People are just treating shingle roofs like cement roofs, I bet that when people built wood frames said, how can we cover our roofs with a cement/ asphalt base like the flat roofs? and that's how they came up with shingles. Silicone products are also expandable by the way

This stuff is terrible for your roof. It looks great for a few months but the shingles can no longer expand and contract once sealed causing them to dry and break apart even faster.

The material is expandable. Its for industrial roofs.. some of it stretches 900 %..alot more then the shingles.. so theres no drying or cracking...i have roofs that are 16 years now.. still in good shape.. but this product is not for every roof..we use this product over metal.. foam.. and epdm.. shingles..concrete..and polys..

Terrible for roof that's going to be ripped apart anyway and replaced at cost of $30K or more? I would say it's well worth a shot.

Sarah Hutchman it's a primer..not top coat..it's to hold down the shingles. we offer top coat in most any color.

ummmm you shouldn't coat shingle roofs, not one manufacture recommends this nor will warranty over shingles. From a technical standpoint, the shingles allow the roof to breathe, plus it should have enough slope where water runs off of it. People are crazy. When people say it extends the life of your roof, how do you know this? What manufacturer or company is doing the accelerated weather testing, where are the results. Zero data to those claims,. Coatings rock on low slope roofs and when used properly they are the future of roofings low slope roofing, shingles are good on houses.

What about flat cement roofs with elastomeric cover, Do they need to breathe too. We will know from a person who got this a couple of years later if it really worked. Your data is yet to come.

coatings work well on Structural cement, I like them a lot on flat cement actually, pending the cement is not wet or holding water, which a simple test by taping a cheap plastic tarp to a section of the roof Seeing if there’s condensation on the underside of the plastic after 24 or 48 hours. Lightweight cement, not so much. Use a good primer to stop the chalking and killing the Ph and gives it a good tact. Using a sebs or thermal plastic on the ponding areas, unless you live in CA then you can’t. 🤙🏼

Check youtube videos - there are people who did elastomeric or silicon based coating on their shingle roof and it held up fine over many years. Results speak for itself. Perhaps companies who want to sell you new shingle roof for $30K or more don't want people to coat their roof and extend it's life.

@@Amarillobymorning777 Not sure, but there are lots of good elastomeric and silicon based roof coating available on any hardware store. They stand up to weather very well, and should work fine on shingle roof (although companies don't guarentee if you use it on shingle roof for obvious reasons).
