  • Removing the subframe from the car wasn't without its casualties but despite shearing several bolts, snapping tools and taking liquids to the face I finally managed to free it from the car! In this video we also announce the winner of the thermostat giveaway!

Those underfloor coolant pipes have absolutely had it and need replacing !

I'm liking your laid back, 'let's learn together' approach Lee. Makes a change from the videos in which people suggest they're experts and make themselves look daft.

Great job , you do realise that as soon as you mention "it should be an easy job " all hell breaks loose , keep them coming

I agree with Alan about the tools - I just fitted a new suspension setup and slowly built my tools up as I went. We learn as we go! Love the videos, I wish there were more MGF/TF around. Keep it up!

A tip for the 22mm subframe bolts, heat them with a blowtorch until they are stupidly hot, and they'll come out no bother. I couldn't budge mine with a 420nm impact, heated them and they just spun out no bother.

Coolant pipes are on my list to look at so this provided a good insight into that! Looks like yours could do with changing too 😝 nice video!

Hello Lee. Enjoyable vids - keep them coming. Note to cut bolts off where rusty, use plenty of WD40 otherwise, and sockets or ring spanners. Most important, safety glasses especially in rusty areas. Rust particles can fly and will hurt!!!!

Definitely need to get the right tools & I'd also invest in a blow torch to heat up rusty nuts makes it easy to take off. Also never use a ratch it to stop a nut from moving always a spanner. Ill sub and watch you progress on the car 👍🏻

I have recently discovered you videos , really like your projects restoring very rusty motors !!! we are all in this together approach . I would suggest that you plan ahead and give a good soaking of Plusgas or similar before you attempt the job . Regards David Lees .

WD40 is not a good penetrating oil, in fact in my experience it's terrible. You would be much better off with something like Plusgas. By the way, great to hear there are a couple Canadian MGF/TF owners enjoying your videos!

Great video. Thanks ☺ Credit to you for managing to have a daughter when you must have been no older than 8! 😁 That's a compliment btw ☺

Have you changed a gear cable . Entire cable

You really need to learn to use the right tools for the job. Using adjustables on tight bolts is just asking to round them off and using a ratchet with an impact hub and not expecting the ratchet to break is beyond naive. Good luck with the rest of the project.

There is a much easier way to remove the subframe, 60k miles or so
