    What a pleasure to see a real technician doing things the right way!
    Torque sequenced, just amazing.
    As a Submariner I know working in tight spaces blind very well and I specialized in critical environment HVAC after I got out.. You were spot on with the detailed descriptions. I miss that kind of attention to detail. It's hard to find today.
    Excellent video, thank you for the info

      Mike, thank you very much for the kind words. I try to emphasize the point of doing things the correct way vs. just doing a job to get it done.
      It is nice to hear when people notice that. Thank you very much and thank you for taking the time to watch. I hope you will check out other videos on my channel.

    The segment on the (Aqua-Hot part number) WPX-386-650 (Hydro-Hot part number DBW-2010-300 AH/HH/WH) solenoid rebuild kit info was new information for me. There's good footage on your other video on the Webasto rebuilt that shows this solenoid up close. BTW there's also a small mesh strainer in the fuel pump input line that should be checked and cleaned if needed. Thanks so much for taking the time to produce and post this quite useful video. Much appreciated!

    Thank you so much for this! I just performed this on my 2000 Dynasty.
    I also changed the fuel filter at the same time - some tips to folks on that job would be if you are trying to replace the fuel filter for the AquaHot - remove the clips that hold the bottom of the fuel filler side panel so that you can rotate it up and have easy access to the filter. It makes life much simpler. In addition, a plastic soda fountain cup makes a great catch for the diesel that will spill out of the fuel filter.
    The blower is hard to rotate out of the way! But it WILL rotate so you can get wrenches on the nozzle. It seems impossible, but there is a way! Thanks so much for this!

    Thanks for the detailed video. I plan on giving this a try on my 2011 American Tradition. I appreciated your comments on the wisdom of the coach designers to bury the AH. I applaud your restraint on the use of colorful language. ;-) I would have had to reach for many such words if I had to complete the process on your coach! Fortunately the AH on my coach has easy access. But, I have no doubt that American Coach built-in some challenges for me none-the-less!!!

      Hi Mike,
      Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the uninformed.
      I just replaced the float switch, fuel nozzle. Next is the fuel filer.
      All thanks to your Video. You saved me a few hundred dollars.
      My question, I broke the drain pipe and lost all my antifreeze.
      I replaced it with brass fittings.
      What is the best way to flush the system before I refill?
      Thanks allot,
      Steve

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't had to flush mine, I merely drained from low point and refilled. Make certain to remove the pressure cap on the boiler tank to avoid a vacuum lock in the system. Make certain to refill with the correct boiler antifreeze and ratio and you should be good to go.

    Great video nice job. Perhaps a bit of Model history would be nice. I have a 03 model year American Coach with Model AHE-100-02S it looks the same but maybe you could point out things that have changed. Also maybe publish the links you have use to gather your knowledge. Again thank you. Roger from Minnesota

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ro Ger sorry Roger I just saw this post. The AHE-100-02S us the same model as I show in my videos as that is what my coach has. If you look at the date of origin on your actual Aqua-Hot (formerly called Vehicle Systems Inc.) it is probably a 2002 model year. The major change in approx 2003 model year units was the orientation of the domestic water loop. On the 2002 and earlier the domestic water loop was copper tubing wrapped around the exterior of the boiler tank in which the heat transfer took place. The next model year of heating units they relocated the domestic water line to the inside of the boiler tank. Later model years evolved with control boards housing indicator lights for various zones, relays, circuits, etc. Also later models also had dual electric heating elements so the are continually changing/evolving but the same theory if operation takes place.
      No specific sites per se, I have just made it a point to do as much research as possible before I purchased my coach back in 2007 in addition to continually learning by working on friend's units as well as my own.
      Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
      Mike.

    Is the Aqua hot system function similar to injectors on a Dmax engine? Looks like a combo of a “CP3 pump and injector” like assembly. Is the white smoke like the hazing in a Dmax when injectors are worn? Thanks again for the great video!

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it is a much simpler system than the Duramax injection system. The Aqua-Hot system just uses a simple fuel pump that forces diesel fuel through an orifice for combustion. The white smoke is similar to any diesel fueled internal combustion system when complete burn of the fuel charge is not obtained.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch.

    Have you had troubles with the circulation pumps? I'd love to see a video of servicing the circulation pumps. I think I have one that's not turning on. Thanks.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Snow Stand Up Paddleboard Shop sorry, no videos of anything related to the circulation pumps. My suggestion would be to put a VOM meter on the pump first to verify if it is receiving the correct voltage. Also check the grounds. This should point you in the right direction if either circulation pump or control circuitry.
      Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
      Mike.

  • @MonacoMike

    I have an '05 Monaco Executive with a model AHE-100-04S that the elec side isn't working. It appears that a careless service tech pulled the connector right off of the back of the high temp thermostat. I was thinking about trying to see if it could be soldered back on but was told that due to the current in the line that I should replace the thermostat. Have you ever changed up one of your thermostats and made a video of the process?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have changed a t-stat but sorry no video. I believe on your model the t-stat is internal in the boiler tank, so in the glycol solution. Mine is external and very easily replaced without spilling a drop of glycol.
      I helped a friend on his with the internal sensor a few years ago and a trick is to remove the pressure cap from the boiler and use a cooling system vacuum pump to apply a very small vacuum to the system, not much is needed, just less than atmospheric pressure. Get the new t-stat/sensor ready with sealant applied and unthread the old one and quickly thread the new one in. With a couple of paper towels placed under the sensor when I removed the old sensor and installed the new only a couple of drops of glycol were spilled. It was actually quite an easy job.
      Hope that helps.
      Thanks for watching.

    During my last weekend out my 2011 Winnebago 42qd my diesel Aqua Hot stopped working. I was able to make hot water with electric but the diesel switch wouldn't light up and the unit wouldn't fire up. I watched your video (great video!), ordered all the parts and today I installed everything. It was pretty grimy in there but i got it all cleaned up and looking like new. I cleaned and adjusted the electrodes and installed the new nozzle and fuel solenoid kit. Well, it's still not working. If I push the reset button on the unit it starts and runs through the purge cycle but fails to ignite and shuts down after about a minute. Any suggestions as to what I should do next? Also, I have a new fuel filter but can't seem to find where the filter is located.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TwoBoldlyGo thanks for watching the video. I am glad you enjoyed it. As for your issue I can think of a couple things to look at. First if the little red LED light is not illuminating when you turn the switch on, make sure you are getting voltage to the switch and then confirm voltage is passing through the switch when you activate it. I have seen the switches fail and I have merely seen a light in the switch fail, so verify the voltage.
      If voltage is passing through it could be in the circuitry or if fuel is flowing when activated it could be the igniter failing to spark and ignite, I have had ignited modules fail as well.
      Lastly you may want to consult Winnebago on the location of the filter as I have seen coach manufacturers mount them in many various locations.
      Mike

    • @twoboldlygo459
      @twoboldlygo459 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike, thanks for replying. Update: I swapped the wires on the diesel switch with the wires on the electric switch and still no light. I can only initiate the purge cycle with the button on the unit (the "non-lighting/seemingly non-functioning control board switch however, must be in the ON position) and as before, there is no ignition. I pulled the burner back out, removed the nozzle and noticed there is no evidence of fuel beneath the nozzle. I can neither see nor smell fuel on the bottom of the nozzle nor in the area into which the nozzle seats. I removed the solenoid and blew compressed air through the "tower" via the solenoid port so I'm certain there is nothing obstructing fuel flow through the tower to the nozzle. Compressed air through the solenoid port also blew all the remaining fuel out of the lines. I think the problem may be in the circuitry. With the control panel switch neither illuminating nor activating the purge cycle - it seems like an electrical issue to me. I guess it's time to take it to a pro.

    Excellent info. When you were torqueing the J bolts back, you torqued them twice. Was that as per the manual and what was the reason? Thanks in advance.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Habit. I don’t like going directly to the final torque value. I prefer to work towards the final torque in two to three increments. Probably goes back to all of my cylinder head and intake days of working through torque sequences but I just do it now out of habit as I still feel it is beneficial.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch and I am glad you found it informative.
      Mike

    • @goutvols103
      @goutvols103 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zmotorsports62 Thank you for your insight. I had seen other videos in which they indicate to go directly to the final torque value. I would trust your experience.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. This is just my opinion, but when torquing fasteners if you go directly to the final torque the components don’t have a chance to “settle” or take a set as your torquing so they settle afterwards which can effectively result in a torque value less than desired.
      By creeping up on the torque in a couple to three steps it allows the components to relax a bit between torque settings and allows everything to pull down more evenly and accurately.
      Granted this is much more important on components such as cylinder heads, intake manifolds, wheels, etc. but I’ve gotten in the habit of following the same procedure on pretty much everything.
      Again, this is merely my opinion based on my experiences.
      Mike

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another thought worth mentioning, I only incrementally step up in torque value on components with multiple fasteners. Items with one fastener such as spindle nuts on unit bearings, pitman arms and oil drain plugs for example, I will go slowly to the final torque value in one step.
      Again, this is more out of habit over the last 30+ years.
      Mike

    • @goutvols103
      @goutvols103 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      zmotorsports you lost me at spindle nuts on unit bearings but that would be appreciated with your wealth of experience. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
