I am a female that just plugged something in and if a fuse went screamed fix it. Spoiled most of my life and remained ignorant on how electrical power works. I am now 56 years old and homeless living in a travel trailer in Canada. I like how you teach I can understand and follow along. Thank you for your time and knowledge and your willingness to share.
I just started working around RVs. When customers ask about the different plugs, I tell them I don't know and I ask the manager. After watching your video, I now know the manager doesn't know either. Now I can give the customer the right information in an intelligent way. Thank you so much for breaking this down, I will watch this a couple of times but now I'm not in the dark. lol pardon the pun Please...MORE. You are great!
I dunno why, but the series/parallel battery configuration animation made more sense than two semesters of calc based physics and lab at university. Thanks! This video is great. I just had to look up “dry camping” is all 😅
OMG!!!! THIS WAS SOO GOOD. JUST GOT MY RV. IM 64 YEAR OLD FEMALE AND TOTALLY BRAIN IMTIMADATION BLOCKAGE ABOUT THIS KIND OF THINGS. I WISH HE HAD ACTUAL CLASSES THAT COVERS EVERYTHING
Can this guy do every instructional video on youtube please. I'm just now seeing this 4 years later. Why is this guy not in every commercial representing every major company. He's like the Sam Elliot of tutorial, diy and walkthrough videos. Why are we not paying this man for simply being alive. My god some tutorials that are so long or blisteringly pointless that lead to dead ends or learning absolutely. This guy is gold. He's everybodys favorite mentor Somebody please make a movie about this guy. Or clone him for christs sake. Amazing video I'm an expert now seriously. He makes it so simple and easy. Thank you so much.
Wow, this is truly the first video I actually understood on my RV and electrical system. I was just about giving up until I saw the video. I’ll still use a professional but at least I don’t feel dumb. Excellent teaching skills, easy and very helpful analogies with a very “you can do it attitude”. Thank You so much!
This video should be required for everyone. I'm serious!!! I'm getting all my kids to watch this now. I appreciate your even toned explanations and the great content you put together. I have a friend who almost lost his life because he knew automotive power well and thought it would be the same with 220vAC, you can imagine what happened. Thanks for this, I'll be sharing as I hope others do as well. Regards...!
Tim... Simply EXCELLENT! To the point, relevant and not a time-waster! Thanks for honoring your viewers by giving us the "skinny" without needless info!
Tim, can't tell you how much I appreciate this. We're going into a full-time living RV situation. I'm adequate with construction and most things that would fit under DIY projects, my one glaring weakness being electrical. Have gained alot just from this intro on the subject.
THANK YOU! my brother is a mechanic and tried to explain vehicle electricity to me and it was like trying to understand a foreign language. You saved me a lot of trouble.
What an excellent tutorial on RV power systems. Clear, concise, humorous, with diagrams. Made it so clear. I learned what blew my DC system too - the old circuit breaker that most likely has to be replaced. This saved me a major expense and many hours of head scratching. Very much appreciated, thank you!
I know this video is 5 years old, (as of this comment) but the info is timeless. In just a few minutes it helped me grasp things like inverter/converter. Thanks so much. Subscribed!
I watch lots of videos about how the electricityworks inRV but honesty this guy is the best one He explain very simple & right on point Thank u so much
This Man,his explanations and his knowledge of everything he talks about is to be Commended! I'm by no means a rookie with electrical, AC or DC but after two weeks of trying to explaining to my wife after we had a fire in our RV how electrical works and why we couldn't "JUST HOOK IT UP AND PLUG IT IN!" This Man made my life once again liveable! Thank You and keep up the good work.GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND STAY SAFE! THANKFULLY YOURS Roy& Suzzan Green Aransas Pass Texas
This guy is a good teacher. I will still need to watch this a few more times and save it for reference when what I gather fades away but I appreciate the very clear explanations. I was tired of not knowing anything about this!
just wanted to say thank you, you saved a camping trip for my family. My AC to DC converter went on my camper and I had a basic understanding of electricity and was able to problem solve this after watching your video. Thank you!
What a great summary!! Although familiar with both AC and DC power (conceptually) I did quite a bit of research when buying my travel trailer to better understand the electrical system. I wish I had found this first!! This summary covers most of the basics and could have kept me from having to watch multiple videos and reading multiple articles. They were still very helpful but this summary covers most of the basics all in one view. Well done!!
Oh my goodness. This was so good. I thought I understood the electrical system and was going to skim through this video. I'm glad I set my ego aside and watched the entire video. Probably the best video on RV electricity I've watched. Kudos to you. Liked and subscribed.
By far, the best video explaining electric in RVs that I’ve ever seen super thorough explains everything like you’re in kindergarten, which is awesome. I will be subscribing to your channel. It is perfect.
I learnt more about electricity from your video than I have from searching the internet over many hours. Well done and I look forward to watching more video from you.
This is the most straight forward, concise and informative video on RV electricity I have encountered. I am grateful for all I learned and I thank you and congratulate you for producing this video. IT IS A MUST WATCH FOR ANYONE WITH AN RV.
Wow. Best explanation ever. My wonderful electrician was over yesterday and explained about the extension cord length and not running too many amps while plugged into house power. But this demonstration tied all the pieces together and made it all make perfect sense. Thank you so much!
Wow. As a newcomer to electrical engineering and circuitry, this explanation was extremely valuable! I bought a 2001 winnebago 31ft and I have trying to figure out why my generator wasn't working. Without being too invasive, I wanted to put my electromagnetic knowledge to the test but without any prior hands on experience, I was as useless as someone without any knowledge of electricity. You really helped me see and see the relevance of my studies in a real world situation and also help me further my non-invasive investigation of the generator so thank you two times!
Thanks for the a/c d/c tutorial. I am an auto technician and am familiar with both types. This was as clear and concise as I've ever heard. Have saved it for reference to watch before I get started, so I don't get hurt because of forgetfulness.
@Carolyn’s RV Life !I just started following you ! Lol and I agree he really makes it as simple as can be and understandable! Ty Steven of Rv set up ! Sadly I’ve watched so many videos and none have really broke it down to understand like this video and understanding basics makes learning other stuff so much faster cause you now can understand the main ways rvs are set up !
You didn't tell me anything I didn't know, but I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed because...you said it so well! I'll be checking out what else you've put out.
I had just bought an RV to restore.and parts of the electrical system had been damaged by the person attempting to restore it before me. Being very familiar with residential wiring but not RV wiring I found this video very helpful. Some might complain about him being too simplistic. But simple is easier to understand.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video we have just bought an RV and had no idea that not just anyone can work on the wiring. So thank you-you saved me and my kid's life.
Never underestimate the power of the mustache. It has started wars’ brokered peace, and stolen hearts. This dude did the best at explaining this topic. I’m going to stop shaving my upper lip effective immediately.
Excellent vid. New operator to a RV and was wondering exactly what was using what kind of power and now i know. I am electrically inclined but this really helped. Thank you
This is an excellent tutorial. This took a long time to perfect and I really appreciate having it to use for the RV forums I am on daily. I will be posting this video link often. There are so many rvers that just have no clue in the beginning
My friend, I consider myself pretty well versed in the items you talked about but still learned several things and confirmed things I already knew. Your explanations, examples and pop ups were spot on. A friend of mi e just got an RV or rather , coach, as you call them and I started explaining things to him. He’s the first person Im sending this to. Great job, you have a new subscriber and Im betting many more. Best regards.
man thank you sir. you taught me so much just now and i am grateful beyond words! possibly i can get this coach back to working and ill have a happy wife! lol thanks again sir!
Excellent information. I am planning on moving into a trailer to be closer to job opportunities. The trailer I'm moving into has two 24V battery, being told that the system is only 12V. I was puzzled and a bit concerned so looking up electrical systems about trailers/rvs to be more informed. I've had some experience with electricity working on houses on and off throughout the years but when it came to the trailer, I felt like I couldn't really apply all of my previous knowledge to figure it out. The other part is that I didn't know about the power cord adapters going down in amps, that was super important. I'm going to be careful not to overload the system with too many things running. Thanks :) P.S. no worries on being long winded, its good to refresh and learn something new, still enjoyed and listened every second of it. That story of the neighbor hooking up that woman's trailer with 220v plug was a shock to hear but good to know. P.S.S. Never know if one day we might be able to see something to maybe help someone and save lives with this kind of information. This kind of information and knowledge awareness could potentially have one person save an entire family living in rv/trailer. Amazing
Excellent lecture and demonstration. Thank you very much for posting this. You have an EXCELLENT way of explaining technical topics. Well done! Much appreciated! Thank you!
5:55 ahahahh nice. Thank you so much for these simple, smooth explanations of RV basics. It's very helpful to newbs and those looking into buying an RV to live in full time.
Thank you so much for making something that seems so complicated much more understandable!! First time RVer here. Good to know the 12v and DC system better!!
Always learning something new! Electricity and propane scare me on my RV. I'm still learning all the volts and what pulls what amount of power. Thanks for sharing the Ac/DC breakdown!
This was unbelievably helpful! I have acquired a camper that needs a lot of remodeling and don't know much about the electrical system. This helped so much. Thank you!!!!!!
I found this very helpful and will watching again I am sure. While I don't plan to work on the electrical I do want a good understanding of the principles so I can't be taken advantage of by unethical people. I think most people are basically honest but sometimes people have set notions and want to convince you to do something that is not necessary. I want to know enough to know what I need and what I don't. This video will help me in that area.
Personally I like using water supply piping as the analogy to Volts and Amps. Voltage is like the water pressure, and amps is the volume of water passing through the pipe. This also correlates to wire sizes.
This is such an interesting and informative video! I learned a lot, even though a complete novice with electricity. I never could understand amps till you said it was like speed. Wow! Instantly got it! So grateful. I also thought I could run AC or fan system plugged into my house power. Was I wrong. I wish you would make another video explaining more. Also thanks for no background music. I have a 1997 Class C Tioga Montara that came with factory systems. There is a fuse box under hood for engine stuff. There is a fuse box under oven next to the converter. And there is a fuse box crammed into a TINY space next to two house batteries in a drop down box under the door entry way step. This is SO HARD to access it is ridiculous. I had to remove it once and redo whole thing due to a long story about buying wrong batteries, re-welding battery box to enlarge it, etc! Anyway, this fuse box needs to be relocated to a larger more accessible area close by. How to do it? No RV place seems to know or care. I need to modernize this whole area of fuses, and install a battery disconnect switch. Would love some guidance on who does this kind of work? I'm in California.
Useful and straight to the point, in a friendly academic type of way, I miss these type of instruction videos ... , this is like something from the 80s no politics, no agendas, no crazy ads bizarre type of skits ... everything today is a clown show
Thank you Sir! This is probably the best dumbed-down and well explained tutorial I've ever watched.
I have searched everywhere and nothing better than this TH-cam video for explaining in plain language about RV wiring.
In all my 77years I have never had this explained so simply. You are gifted!
I am a female that just plugged something in and if a fuse went screamed fix it. Spoiled most of my life and remained ignorant on how electrical power works. My good Sir, you're the first person to finally explain all things electrical in my RV. You are the ⚡Power Guru! ⚡
OMG!!!! THIS WAS SOO GOOD. JUST GOT MY RV. IM 64 YEAR OLD FEMALE AND TOTALLY BRAIN IMTIMADATION BLOCKAGE ABOUT THIS KIND OF THINGS. I WISH HE HAD ACTUAL CLASSES THAT COVERS EVERYTHING

12:39 I am so glad I watched the whole rudimentary bit because I now realize my air conditioning is on a 15 amp adaptor...

I am SO glad you instructed this video. So many folks think 220 volt is the same as 110 when they see the strange plugs.
THANK YOU! my brother is a mechanic and tried to explain vehicle electricity to me and it was like trying to understand a foreign language. You saved me a lot of trouble.
What an excellent tutorial on RV power systems. Clear, concise, humorous, with diagrams. Made it so clear.

Easy to understand, practical and educational. Complete explanations and directions. Great video.
Great explanation - from someone who has a healthy fear of electricity! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You made this topic very simple and easy to understand!
This guy is really smart, he knows what he's doing. I like the way he explained stuff, as well.
The beginning drags on? To me, my life is worth a bit of extra time. Thanks for a great presentation ! ! !
Just by the mustache, you can tell this guy means business.
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Yup, that's the first thing I said in my best Ned Flanders' voice, 'check out the ole broomelee broom.'

Amazing video. So detailed that I literally have no questions.
Very good class. 😎👍👌
I like the explanation of Parallel 7:30 and Series hook ups.✅
Outstanding video! You solved some long standing mysteries for me very plainly in a matter of minutes. Great work, thank you.
Wow this is the first video i've seen that breaks it all the way down NICE!
man thank you sir. you taught me so much just now and i am grateful beyond words! possibly i can get this coach back to working and ill have a happy wife! lol thanks again sir!

You, Sir, are my hero. Perfect Layman's terminology.
Great Info well Explained, looking forward to more of your videos.
Some very useful information! I learned much of this in school but a good refresher is always good, thanks!
Excellent lecture and demonstration. Thank you very much for posting this. You have an EXCELLENT way of explaining technical topics. Well done! Much appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you! That was a great video introduction to electricity and RVs. It's definitely one I'll watch again.
Well done. One of the best. Simple, straightforward, easycti fully understand.
5:55 ahahahh nice. Thank you so much for these simple, smooth explanations of RV basics. It's very helpful to newbs and those looking into buying an RV to live in full time.
Thank you, so much I found my GFCI problem and fixed it from this video.
Best presentation and easiest to understand, your a professional and a voice that's perfect, thanks
U R A Beast!!! Nobody could explain this any better!!! Excellent video 👍👍
Thank you for the concise explanation of the RV electrical system.
Thank you so much for making something that seems so complicated much more understandable!! First time RVer here. Good to know the 12v and DC system better!!

I used to have a master electrical license and still found your video very interesting
Great video! This is one of the more informative and professional videos I've seen. Thanks for the great info.
The very best video for me who knew nothing about electrical....Many thanks
Best instruction video and informative. Well done thanks.
Personally I like using water supply piping as the analogy to Volts and Amps. Voltage is like the water pressure, and amps is the volume of water passing through the pipe. This also correlates to wire sizes.
Really enjoy your video’s. Lots to learn when it comes to RV systems. Cheers Rob
Amazing explanation GREAT JOB sir! How can anyone not like this video.
One of the most informative RV videos I've ever viewed. Thank you for sharing this information!
Literally the the best video regarding RVs. 💯
WOW! Great video. Well done, Tim. (not sure why ANYONE would give this a thumbs down...regardless of your experience level) ...kudos!
I have nothing but the utmost respect for electricity.
I need to do my own DIY Van build and would like to know how to lay down the electrical system. You are an excellent teacher and have a voice you can listen to for a long time.
I have watched many videos, your the first one that makes sense step by step thanks
Thanks for this video . I love the way you explain it . I have a 1960 travel trailer that I need to check or change all the wiring.
Best explanation ever. On anything. Strong work!
An excellent example of a well-done tutorial. Clear as a mountain lake and almost as entertaining. ;)
What an utterly fantastic video! Thank you very much!
Useful and straight to the point, in a friendly academic type of way, I miss these type of instruction videos ... , this is like something from the 80s no politics, no agendas, no crazy ads bizarre type of skits ... everything today is a clown show
Another great teaching video from you. Thanks
This video was very knowledgeable. Both me and my son learned a lot about RV power today 👍
Thank you so much for solid information, with no intro or stupid background music.
