      @@GH0STST4RSCR34M yeah, I don’t have a car with these new infotainment systems but the old Mercedes interface with the touch pad and the rolling knob was so easy to use while driving. The "underestimated" range is due to different range testing (EPA vs WLTP) regulations in north america. Here in Germany the range of the EQE500 you have there is listed with 608km (WLTP), not 418 as in Canada.

    • @SaschaPallenberg
      @SaschaPallenberg ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually it's a little bit complicated. The don't run the same EPA test-cycles as Audi and Tesla and this is exactly why most cars have longer range in a real world scenario that the EPA range in the specs. Except of Audi and Tesla... they don't manage to get their EPA ranges and are underperforming

    what we really need in all these over hyped car reviews is a detailed inspection of all the user level maintenance items like having to change the batteries, lights, ac filters, tires, fluids, or reprograming the key fobs or just getting access to an error code and see just how badly each model is screwing its potential buyers over bs practices meant to push owners back to the dealerships.

    • @rustler08
      @rustler08 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Reprogramming FOBs has never been a user level maintenance item. Also, what lights are you talking about? It's 2023, these lights are all LED (both interior and exterior). And wtf did you mention tires? You're not replacing your tires, a shop is (I know this because you wouldn't have asked it if you knew). Your question makes non sense, this isn't a Bugatti Veyron.
      Error codes are all accessed via OBDII, and they showed you how to replace the wiper fluid.

    Hey Alex, can you describe the brake pedal problem you seem to have a bit more? I drove the EQS myself for over 1300 miles and cant really follow you on this topic.
    The brake gets harder to push (kinda like preloaded) under different conditions i.e. driving very close to cars in front of you, oncoming stop signs, red traffic lights etc. Wich is a good thing for safety reasons. I also find it really enjoyable and easy to use as it is very predictable and saves your foot a lot of work (your foot doesn’t have to travel that far down). For me it’s one step closer to self driving, especially combined with the excellent distronic and lane centering.
    Maybe you have to get used to it before you love it?

    11:05 love Alex as a host, but safety dictates as a driver you're supposed to have your eyes on the road and BOTH hands on the wheel. Sorry Alex, I'm gonna have to side with Mercedes on this one, their design made you a safer driver whether you wanted to be or not.

      @@Jonathan-n5p Answer is none of them, they are all water resistant, there is different. But that's not the point, the point is you're driving at 100Mph on a highway, accidentally you spill water/coffee on your phone, are you going to keep your eyes on the road, or will be busy to save your phone?

    • @Gift0r

      Winter tires are usually slimmer than summer tires because they shall sink into dense snow. This gives a better range because they have less friction on asphalt.

    I just went from a 2020 e-series wagon to the 2022. The newer interiors are a notable downgrade from the older ones. The capacitatve buttons just suck. Require way too much precision. It's super frustrating to feel the click, but not activate the function you're clicking. The steering wheel on my old wagon kicked ass. The new one, which is the same that this review shows, is just bad.

    I love that Merc one of the OLDEST car companies in the world, is the one struggling the hardest to make a decent EV, whilst brand new chinese car companies like BYD are making some pretty sweet cars. I honestly wish VW would just bring back the "e-Golf" rather than the ID2. I have little Desire for any of the damn EVs on the market. Just make a nice car, and make it Electric... the I4 comes close. but costs like a gazillion dollars.

    I really enjoy your car reviews. Being a tech company i really wished you would focus and talk much more about the technology in the car in detail. Infotainment system, automatic braking, driving modes, phone app, etc. There are so many reviews online talking about the car and driving experience...

      @KyleDavis328 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I feel like they used to when they first started doing car reviews, like the first 2 or 3 on the channel. But I think when the writers and hosts want to review electric cars, and the state of electric car infotainment technology is all pretty much the same "They tried too hard to copy Tesla, and now you're paying more for an experience worse than a stock Civic," then there's not really that much for them to talk about, so it just becomes electric car reviews.

    I went to the EQ Experience in Alabama. Let me tell you, they has Tesla Plaids there to compare and the Mercedes was hands down better in every single aspect. I would never get a Tesla. Yeah they were first but they no longer are the best. Mercedes was comfier, easier to drive, better steering and the build quality was hands down better. They also have a lot of checks and balances with the battery process. Also Mercedes will soon be making their own motors for the EV vehicles.
