Jake is the only one of the three that gets batman. He right with everything he said about marvel. Sure marvel has done better movies more often then DC but they have done some bad movies lately. Unlike DC movies which gets picked apart on everything people give marvel a pass on everything. Batman returns is an S!!! You're the man jake!!!

Y'all haven't seen Mask of the Phantasm!?!? Undeniably an S tier film. It was the Batman Begins before Batman Begins was made. It dives into his origin story, includes the Joker, and has Batman being a detective just like the comics. So good!

You add the amazing social political + the spiritual message and the character arc, you have an A level movie. Most points you guys made are because of lack of understanding of the story or bad memory. It's not even a sort of condescending comment of mine, I respect you guys a lot . Yeah exactly. Dont understand why they nitpick Dark Knight Rises so much but have rose-tinted glasses on for BVS UE. BVS has way more issues compared to TDKR.
@@ARBLACKx the biggest problem with Rises : it's a sequel to TDK. Most criticism i hear of rises is way too biased & strong. It's like everyone judges it on another level while mixing in their own expectations. And sadly, most people miss out on all it does right & the themes explored because they're blinded by their own bias. Ironic but sad. In any case, it's good to know it exists. I look at nowadays political climate & realize how relevant rises is
when talking about box office, I dont understand why it is measured by how much a movie makes opening weekend and never number of ticket sold. It seems like because ticket prices increases over the years, later (future) movies will definitely out-box-office previous movies.

I know comparing the films to each other isn't supposed to be done but I don't care: There's no way Dark Knight Rises is as bad as Batman & Robin. IMO, they placed Dark Knight Rises correctly at a "C", but both Batman & Robin and Batman Forever need to be sent down a tier to make Rises' position fair.

Always a great time. Jake roasting jokes are always funny asf. The Mask of Phantasm is definitely an S. 89' Batman I would put in the S category as well. Nolan's Trilogy classic (S). Reeve's Batman is up there for sure.

As for the debate on why Batman retired in Dark Knight Rises, it wasn't because he was sad: I believe it related to the point Alfred makes in TDK, where he tells Bruce that Batman could be the outcast. I always thought that he retired to seal the "noble lie" of Harvey's death and all the criminal aftermath, whereas Rachel's death was what kept dragging him into the cave. Edit: a notable omission of the tier list was the Dark Knight Returns animated movie.

Only thing I hard disagree with is Reeves Batman not being a consecutive S. It's easily the best Batman movie, I would argue objectively on a technical level.

Sean, heard you mention seeing The Karate Kid at The Sunrise Mall. I spent most of my adolescent years in the 80’s hanging out and seeing movies at that mall. I lived in Seaford on the water. Me and my Friend Jimmy would take the N19 bus to the mall every weekend and see at least 2 movies on a Saturday afternoon. We definitely saw The Karate Kid there. Love the Podcast!!!! Bobby
I really feel for Kevin, I've been told that I can't keep my hands still at times while talking and that it's distracting. Also, I definitely relate to having that innate curiosity about how things are made/done. With him loving Nolan and magic tricks, I can imagine he loved The Prestige
Great episode! Really enjoyed the discussion on the Batman rankings. I have to agree with Jake on a lot of it! How the Marvel movies are ranked so high.. and how some of these Batman movies are quite great. I also agree that I prefer my Batman to be grounded in reality.. that works better for me when he is framed like that. Also how there shouldn't be a rule on how a fictional character has to be. There is room in there for creative expression of the artist. Although I will disagree with him on Batman and Robin. It's just way too silly for me to get into it and should be a 'D' like Sean says. Also The Dark Knight Rises really is a 'C'. I will agree with Sean that The Dark Knight does have some flaws that are valid to bring up.. some ideas that are not fully baked. That doesn't take away from how game changing the movie was. All the movies on this list have some flaws. Dark Knight is a solid 'S'. But at the end.. the rankings all seem very good and it was a great discussion! Thanks!

I love batman returns. Its the better of the 2 burton films BUT it is not a perfect Gotham and the villains are not accurate to comics at all. Its a full blown Burton film thats happens to star Batman and i like it. But its not a perfect Batman film

Poor list. Just going with the crowd. Batman (1989), Returns and Begins are S. Batman the movie, Batman Lego Movie and maybe TDK are A. Then Forever B. Mask of Phantasm C, TDKR and Batman and Robin bottom, but at least Batman and Robin knew what it was therefore TDKR may be the worst.
