I loved this movie, and the pace was one of those things. Particularly those motorcycle shots at the end were gorgeous. It really let the audience sit in the moments. I don't mind movies taking their time.
I don’t mind movies taking their time. I regularly sit through long movies, but I guess I wasn’t engaged in this movie. I found it really melodramatic and funny (in ways it wasn’t meant to be), the stilted dialogue and terrible pacing with multiple endings that weren’t cohesive with the rest of the movie made it feel incredibly long. I’ve never checked my phone in the middle of a movie, and I wanted to walk out at the 2 hour mark, but was committed to giving it a shot and seeing the whole thing. I think that decision made me dislike the movie even more though. Had I left at least I would have taken the good feeling of the parts I liked with me, instead I was just really exhausted.
I don’t agree with the critique of people saying it’s too long, I feel like that such a nit pick people have. I think if a director has a vision and that vision is three hours then that’s what he/she should commit to. It’s even better when I love almost every second. I do think the “cameo Arkham prisoner” was unnecessary and almost felt CW compared to the rest of the film. And I love slow burn drawn out scenes and shots hell I’m a Quentin Tarantino nut and that guy will film a woman’s foot on a dashboard and drag it out for a two min intro shot ha but if the story and the acting and action is all A+ then I don’t mind the slow.
Technically it's 2:56 minutes Endgame was 3:02 minutes. It's one thing to say it felt long but to say that the runtime is too long is overblown. I'm basing it off of facts and yes I know endgame had to be that long I'm just literally talking about the runtime before you marvel fanboys lose your minds.
Everyone sits on their ass and will binge a new Netflix series in one sitting. A close to 3 hour movie comes out and they lose their minds its honestly ridiculous lol
I think it really has more to do with the viewing experience itself, but it's hard not to mix that experience with feelings about the film. Sitting in a theater for three hours is awful. For my second showing, I took a ten minute walk in the middle and refreshed myself. I was then able to enjoy the second half of the movie more than I did in the first viewing.
This film absolutely overwhelmed me. Epic and a masterclass in filmmaking. You could see and feel the passion coming through on all fronts. It really had the most DNA true to the Batman mythos and the world created in it. Loved how Gotham was portrayed. Gripes for me was that I wish this was the directors cut and maybe the initial theatrical release was trimmed 20 min. This absolutely deserved to be seen in IMAX as you could feel the movie (ex. The car chase) that made you feel immersed in it all. IMO it’s not a masterpiece like TDK but what a first film and can’t wait to see more. 9.5/10
If The Joker was a film about a broken man becoming Irredeemable, than The Batman is a film about a damaged man becoming a Force for Good! When Batman lead the people in water to safety, was Bruce first steps from being Vengeance to The Dark Knight. This film Batman suit is my favorite, the suit was the utility belt. The whole cast did an amazing job.
I liked the suit and the Cape. Wasn't a fan of the cowl. The shape of it is molded to his face structure. If that mask was hollow youd be asking "why does this look like Robert Pattinson?"
The fact that Riddler didn’t know Bruce was Bats was genius marketing. You’d think he would’ve known through the trailers but he just says the name. Brilliant 🏆
I liked Pattinson take on Bruce Wayne, he ignored that aspect of his life to just be Batman all the time. The movie is also him realizing he's going to bed to work on his Bruce Wayne persona and i think it did a good job showing that realization and growth building up throughout the movie
Really loved Patinson as Batman. I was one of those fans that was skeptical when they cast Twilight Boy! He brought the best Batman to date as much as I love the Bale Batman movies.
Don't know if any of you noticed this but, when Falcone goes down. Batman kneels/sits next to him. There's an overhead shot of the street light flickering. In context of the film/story it's about the riddle. "Bring him to the light" for me, when I saw it, I took it as Matt Reeves doing a subtle nod to Crime Alley ala the origin. To when Bruce is alone, sitting/standing/kneeling next to his dead parents. Could be a big stretch but, food for thought. Love the film. Red flair scene was beautiful. One of the most heroic moments in Batman/Superhero history across all mediums, for me. Excellent video gentlemen!!!
Good eye or interpretation. When I saw the film for the second time , I saw Bruce smiling quickly at the cameras when he got out of his car and heading into the church. Nice touch matt reeves foreshadowing his destiny to overcome his reclusiveness. This movie is soo deep and not even as a nod to the multitude of comics but as a literature metaphors and symbolism like batman saving the citizens from the flood with a flare. Reminded me of Moses and him guiding the Israelites to the promise land. Like batman guiding them into a better Gotham. Especially that scene with the woman and the stretcher holding onto him. From vengeance into a sign of hope for “cesspool [they] call the city”
He was great in Minority Report, but his best role will always be Ray from In Bruges. I also like how he played Bullseye in the Ben Affleck Daredevil lmao
I loved that shot of him looking back it said so much without words and so much of this film was like that. Appreciate when filmmakers don’t spoon feed us. Beautiful movie!
If you told me a week ago that this would be in the conversation as the best Batman movie I would have laughed my ass off. Now I seriously think it's my 2nd favorite after Dark Knight.
That score was phenomenal! And the music theme on the motorcycles with them saying goodbye. YESSSSSSS!!!!! I listened to the entire soundtrack! SO GOOD!
Love conversation I enjoyed the mood of Seven and The Crow of this film. Catwoman and Batman chemistry was off the charts good. The cast was great and him being young detective trying to figure out how to use Bruce Wayne was great story and how the Riddler and Penguin was used in this detective movie unlike punch kick fly like the others. I think Reeves great in world building and I felt like I was in Gotham. Great show
This is a character that I would also love to see how they bring him in. Hasn't been used a lot and could be evolved more. By the way, if you haven't had a chance to check out Friday Night titans, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
I equate the people that thought The Batman was boring to the same people who thought Blade Runner 2049 was boring. Both are amazing IMO Why do people think The Batman was boring? I wish I knew…
@@JoJoJoker if people went into this movie expecting a fun, lighthearted super hero adventure, they must not have seen any trailer/tv spots or heard anything about the movie beforehand. It was marketed as a Se7en/zodiac murder mystery story, and that’s exactly what they gave us. Some people don’t want that type of Batman story but I was on board the second I heard that’s the tone/direction they were going. To each his own
The movie went by so quick. I watched it again on Friday and I was more hyped and enthralled and seeing the cinematography and details. Like when Bruce got out off the car b4 heading to th r church and the photographers were saying his name “ Is that Bruce Wayne?etc”. Bruce smiled for a quick second and when I saw that I was like oh shit, he’s trying to be sociable but his introverted self got in the way. I love that coz of his evolution of the facade of playboy billionaire will come, good foreshadowing Matt reeves
@@Bateman61405 Yh. I love detective mystery movies like zodiac, seven, French connection etc. so the slow pace doesn’t even occur to me as I’m so captivated by the story and actors. I’m happy that the batman finally gets the detective element and most normal superhero movie goers won’t enjoy it coz the previous batman movies portrays him as an action man but not an intelligent and complex character b4 as in the comics/animated shows/movies.
The beginning reminds me of Rorschach journals. People always thought the Owl represents Batman but he was just a rich guy in a suit, Rorschach was the rage and vengeance
Another great show…gotta admit I’m with Coy I really loved that ending how they kept going with the bikes and when they separate at the tunnel I eat all of that up it was poetry and really hit me emotionally…but the joker riddler scene should have been post credit that didn’t need to be there 👍👌🎥❤️but this movie really overwhelmed me…can’t wait to watch it again…I think it’s a film that will grow on people more…I have this as my second favourite behind the dark knight but tied with Batman Begins need to let this movie marinade on me to see if it’s higher or lower than begins.
They actually tested the movie with a shorter run time and it was not as well received. I think the length and movie were perfect for a true lifelong Batman fan. 10/10
Yeah like Corey said, the slow burn detective story needs to be fleshed out longer in order for tension to build and for the action scenes to pay off more.
I loved this movie more than any movie in the Nolan trilogy. I did not think that would be possible. Ever. The world Reeves created, story, pacing, etc. all placed me in that world. I was fully engaged. The motorcycles at the end were taking more than a ride through the graveyard. Selena and Batman were jockeying for position, challenging each other subtly. Which way would Batman go? Only plot point that bothered me was that there was no way the cops don’t unmask Batman when they had the chance.
Dang I missed the livestream lol. Loved this movie! I checked it out again last night and Kristian it’s way better the second time. You notice the little details even in the moments that drag lol
I got to go to the fan first AMC event, totally packed theater obviously, and the movie got a standing ovation and round of applause from every person in attendance.
On second watch, it's now become my best Batman film. No shade to Nolan or Burton (not you Snyder) but this is a Batman with nuance, mood, intelligence and introspection. A very different take, but one that enhances the Batman character. More psychological Noir thriller Batman sequels please! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I feel the same way… I felt this movie was what a group project brings in. Everyone delivered their last drop. And I felt dark knight heath ledger carried the movie. But I also love dark knight dearly. Definitely going to purchase this movie.
I see more than a little confusion about Selina Kyle and Falcone. Catwoman: When in Rome #6 (2005) by Loeb and Sale, the same team as Long Halloween - DC Fandom summary : "Selina visits the grave of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone... She says that she knows he knows he was her father, but can never prove it." Novel about year one is coming out, at the end of the month, Before The Batman. The name of the Wayne Mansion housekeeper is Dory. "I am vengeance" comes from Batman: The Animated Series, I saw this later at an Easter egg site. Easter egg I haven't seen at Easter egg sites: what supporting character, non-villain, is from the 60's tv show? #2 what important object is in the background with Alfred in his library from 60's Batman? (noticed in my 2nd viewing).
I loved this movie and I cant wait to see it again. I think its in the top 3 Live action Batman films. I think it's better than The Dark Knight Rises, not better than Begins or TDK, but it is in the conversation with those films. I really didn't mind the 3 hours, I felt like it flew by. It was a bold decision for an introduction to the character and world to be a 3 hour epic. I think it paid off.
It grabs me from the beginning, I didn't mind at all its slower pace or long running time. I found it more entertaining and gripping than Batman Returns or The Dark Knight Rises for example, which are about 2 and a half hours long and Batman is only there for about 15 minutes... This it's the first film where not even Bruce, but Batman is the real protagonist, it reminded me of the animated series or a good graphic novel. I've always been a fan of the character, Batman above all others. That's why I personally always preferred Begins over TDK, but now with this one, those movies moved to second and third place respectively....
Hahaha. Me too but I was really cackling over this new "repeat what the other person says" bit. :) By the way Noah, If you haven't seen Friday Night Titans yet, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
Breaking through glass using grapple gun the hand to hand combat using smoke bomb and doing the weapon steal like in the games with that damn score was awesome
7:35 Coy Jandrau is right. Maybe it helps because I'm an artist, but the motorcycle scene is a continuance of the evolution of Bruce Wayne from blind vengeance to hope-filled knight. The first time Catwoman and Batman met, it was a violent dance. As they said their goodbyes, you could see they weren't simply driving away. They were playfully racing each other. It was a last dance between two lovers, who did not know when their paths would cross and when they finally reached their divergence point, Batman looked longingly at the one "who got away." It was beautiful. It. Was. Perfect.
I've already seen it twice and plan on it a 3rd time. It has narrowly become my favorite Batman film. This is what they imagined when they first thought about making comic book movies. This can easily be pulled off the shelf like a graphic novel, It did the impossible and made it feel brand new. BRAVO!!!
They did a lot of fresh stuff in this for sure! Please check out Friday Night Titans, would love to hear what you think! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
I loved Batman's character arc in the film, how Bruce's humanity was absent but slowly throughout the movie he regains his humanity and you see that in the scene where he's comforting Alfred in hospital and then he realises what kind of hero he needs to be by the end and great discussion Kristian!
Thank you! We are trying to decide which one it is! If you haven't seen Friday Night Titans yet, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
Ive got a question/thought and would love to hear what you think: I believe that Matt Reeve's batman will be similar to Chris Nolan but different. I think that Matt's Batman trilogy could be a psychological and/or emotional one where the riddler (fave villain), is the 1st villain, then Mad Hatter (my 2nd Fave who is underrated and next could be Scarecrow, Bane, Mr. Freeze or Clayface. With the Triology having an emotional or psychological theme to this batman What you think? And who do you rhink would best be the next main villain for this new iteration of Batman, fitting in with the theme? Thank You and keep it up.
Haven’t heard anyone talk about how batman was just ever so slightly hesitant about intimidating the penguin when he first met him at the club. LOVED that detail. You could tell there was a moment when he had to remind himself that he was in charge of the situation, and not this notorious gangster he’d only ever really heard about up to this point. It was a pretty subtle shift in his demeanor, but it was fantastic
Very good point. There were just outstanding performances and direction throughout. By the way, if you haven't had a chance to check out Friday Night titans, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
This is the best Batman movie in my eyes they got Batman right the tone the CITY the darkness. This true to the comics. As much as I love begins and dark knight.
That's a very good point about seeing the movie again and things happening a bit faster. I just saw it for the first time last night (11pm AMC Dolby showing) and had no idea it was a 3hr movie. I still loved the movie, but had I known that going in, I would've been prepared to be engaged throughout. Not gonna lie, those recliners got me and there were a couple of scenes where I dozed off...We got out at 2:14am lol. Definitely need to rewatch. But what I absolutely loved was seeing the most beautiful Gotham I've ever seen on the big screen, and seeing quite a bit of the Rogue's gallery before they being fully realized. Liked seeing what everyone was doing on their own and how their connections tied them to one another. Cannot wait to see Batman/Bruce grow with these villains. And Colin Farrell KILLED IT...his portrayal and that chase sequence is easily the best part of the movie for me..that Batmobile entrance was sweeeeeet. Makes sense they're doing a Penguin show.
how are people not liking the ending! imagine if the movie se7en ended when kevin spacey went to give himself up. that's the twist he gave himself up because he knows he's doing something more. and in the case of the riddler he wanted to destroy gotham by "cleansing it", it's a city that gave him nothing but suffering and sadness and he didn't have faith that there will be change with the new mayor. the riddler won in this movie. what batman learned at the end is that vengeance is not the way to go and he has to be a symble of hope to the people of gotham. i still think that this film is a masterpiece.
Ikr. I don’t understand how people don’t like the third act. People don’t understand the concept of character development. It didn’t need a typical cgi fest or batman just punching the riddler end of movie. IT NEEDED BATMAN TO GROW : him saving the people like Moses in the flood, becoming the idea of hope as well as keeping vengeance. Trying to balance both. Not only batman as a superhero but as Bruce Wayne as a character as he talked to the riddler about the Waynes/ Gotham not caring about the city. So Edward made the batman and Bruce that we eventually love. like batman influenced riddler and him thinking they were a team to bring down the “cesspool we call a city”
I think the sequel will show Bruce working on the Bruce Wayne persona and that’s where he sees Selina again, having now stolen her way into high society
It was eerie watching this movie because of the amount of things that lined up exactly with things I’ve daydreamed about having in a Batman movie. I’ve been joking about that with my brother ever since the news started trickling out and everything was stuff I’d told him they should do. When the toy for The Riddler leaked, people were wondering what the weapon in his hand was. I laughed because I was a carpet installer and thought it looked like a carpet chisel. Hilarious that the whole mystery hinged on the same tool I was using while dreaming about seeing this movie. Even all the interviews with them talking about “Matt’s vision for The Batman”, I chuckle because that’s my name.
Haha. Reeves is just working on a different level right now. Love his work. By the way, if you haven't had a chance to check out Friday Night titans, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
HBO Max just launched in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 today; super happy. Looking forward to watching the DC universe (especially Justice League which I’ve never seen). Hopefully the new Batman comes in 45days.. I can also finish watching Sopranos (rewatch) and then dive into Many Saints.
this batman movie is the best adaptation of the graphic novels to film. from the long halloween, hush, year one and court of owls. i loved it. if your a reader the reveals were great fan service of these novels. This is my favorite Batman film watched it three times along with Batman Begins.
It's fair to say that The Dark Knight series can't really be compared, but I think it's also fair to say that The Batman did justice to Batman, the character, like no other film has. We explored themes that we haven't before, and I'm so excited for what comes next after this. Also, Pattinson is now my favorite batman. That man nailed it.
No its not fair to say that the Dark Knight series can't really be compared because it's a SERIES...lol the Batman is just the first movie. On the other hand, It would be fair to compare Batman Begins to The Batman.
Watched it last night, about 2/3 of the way in fire alarm went off and the theater had to evacuate. Luckily, we were allowed back in to finish. Was so invested in the movie that I was really dissapointed if we weren't able to go back in to finish the movie. It' may be a little long, but it was very well done. Loved most of the performances. Reeves took much care with this one. Great job, DC.
I agree for sure. Handled with care. By the way, please check out Friday night Titans, would love to hear your thoughts!th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
Oh man, he has been fantastic in a lot of stuff he is in, but he was great in this for sure!! If you haven't seen Friday Night Titans yet, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
I enjoyed that shot of the motorcycle leaving. . It made me think of the old cow boy movies. Shots of people leaving in their horses. The view of Batman’s boots while he was walking is similar to the camera angles of cowboy movies. Even the cape blowing in the wind reminded me of a poncho . I am sure the director was doing this.
THANK YOU, Fellas. A great review!!! I absolutely loved the rawness of the Bat universe. Good Lord, the Batmobile. That bleeping engine almost deafened me. A different but very enjoyable film and take on Bats.
Is the Wayne Family's wealth passed down through generations or did Thomas Wayne somehow become a billionaire while he was a doctor? Just curious because in the scene where Alfred tells Bruce he needs to meet with the Wayne Foundation accounts or else he may potentially lose "everything" I started wondering why wouldn't the accountants meet with a board of trustees? Like there's no way he can run a company or hold that much influence if he's out on patrol all night and sleeping through the day.
I saw The Batman 3 times this weekend. Throughly enjoyed this film. Thank you very much gentlemen for this wonderful review. Hope you guys have a lovely week!!! 🙂👍
Kristian, as a fan of your content across several years I have to implore you to see this movie in theaters one more time if you can. My taste is usually in line with yours and I went from really liking this movie to LOVING it after my second viewing (also enjoyed the pacing much more). I believe you felt the same way about Interstellar after further viewings, which I did as well. Keep up the great content!!
Might be hard for me to catch in theater again, but I completely understand! Thanks Goopie!! If you haven't seen Friday Night Titans yet, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
I don’t get the pacing issues complaint. That’s one of its strong points. It creates the mood. I get it’s not for everyone, but like how do you guys sit through Coen brother films if you can’t stay with the long shots?
Liked it, but it felt so claustrophobic, as they kept going from scene to scene back to Falcone, the nightclub and the story got convoluted especially about Selina & Falcone. It looked stunning though, very atmospheric, so.moody and respectful to the source material. Score was insanely good too.
Losing your parents especially at a young age is a slow burn. I can't imagine losing both at once especially through murder but having lost both by 32 I can only feel for his mental and emotional state only 12 years later after seeing them killed at 10
Forgive me if someone in the comments already said it but in the Long Halloween/Dark Victory/When In Rome arc it is HEAVILY implied that Selina is Carmine's daughter. Its not something stated in the mainline comics though. So the movie is being faithful to the graphic novels.
Yes seems like a lot of people have been aware of this. Thank you for sharing this! Please check out Friday Night Titans, would love to hear what you think! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
The Batman is now easily in my top 3 Batman movies of all time with Batman 1989 and Batman Begins. There isn't really much I can pick apart. You guys summed up pretty much everything I like about it too. I'll add that the Batmobile is certainly one of the best ever designed. I'm a fan of muscle cars, so I really dug that. The look of Gotham City was also stunning. It has the balance of keeping the spooky appearance while also looking like a real city that could really exist. That's one of the things I loved about Begins. If I had a couple of criticisms, it would be the score. I know I'm in the minority, but I wasn't too crazy about it, which I'm sorry to say because I'm usually a fan of Michael Giacchino's work. It wasn't terrible, but it could've been better. The other criticism is the climactic action sequence. I was hoping it'd be a bigger scene. I think I've become a bit spoiled from the 20-30 minute climaxes of most blockbusters these days, but I still feel like more could've been done with that. I'll disagree about staying on certain shots too long. I didn't notice that at all. The editing and cinematography are spot on. However, I will agree that the Arkham scene probably should've been a mid or post credits scene. That might've been more effective, but it didn't bother me. I also agree that we should wait a bit for Joker. He's my favorite villain in the Batman universe, but I'm fine if we don't see him until maybe the 3rd or 4th movie. We don't need him right away. Anyway, I give this movie 4.5. out of 5 Schmoes. Definitely one of my new favorite Batman movies.
The one thing that I would have changed in this movie is that when they’re interrogating the Penguin, I would have had the interrogation go down on the highway with police cars and ambulance and fire brigades on the scene and would have had one of the cops come up to Gordon and Batman and say, “what the hell is going on. It’s a miracle nobody got killed.” Then have Police arrest the Penguin after the interrogation for causing a pile up, Penguin going off defiantly in cuffs wattling along saying that he’ll have bail posted by the end of the night. Would have tied up that loose end about accountability for the massive accident nicely and further emphasised the point that Batman doesn’t kill.
Haven’t seen the movie; and to be fair not sure when I will see it. But it was nice to get some information on the movie. Good discussion. Also; class was given (as usual)
Favorite scenes: Batman and Catwoman when she says, you really don't care about me do you? And he just says "look at me...... Looks good". Iceberg lounge Batman shows up: "Do you know who I am"? *Slowly looks up*
Best part of penguin is when Batman and Gordon are interrogating him about being the rat and Gordon shows him the pictures of the commissioner death and penguin is like “Jesus what you showing me that for” very Tony soprano. And also he kinda sons them for not knowing Spanish which was dope.
I love that Batman already met a (future) Robin in this movie (kind of), because the recruit of the "joker" gang, with half his face painted, is the same actor that plays Tim Drake, a.k.a. the third Robin in the comics, in the TV show 'Titans'.
Did I miss it but did you guys not talk about that batmobile scene? When that thing started up, I was blown away. Saw it in imax and holy shit. My favorite batmobile. The tumbler was my favorite before this one. Don't know what that says about me.
If this movie was cut down to two hours and 15 minutes then had an extended cut everyone would be talking about how they should have never cut it in the first place.
I wouldn't change a thing about this movie, the shots go on for a while, but they're such beautiful shots, and the fact that they take their time makes it feel way more impactful to me. These scenes actually say a lot without saying anything if you're paying attention. The cinematography is art just like the writing and the acting, so it doesn't make sense to me to say it's unnecessary or should be shorter. Why not just enjoy the beautiful shots and revel in the mood / message they're getting across. Like for sure there ARE unnecessary scenes in movies that do go on too long, the difference is that in this case each shot, even the ones that go on, are consistently telling you something or providing new info. Dude on the right was 100% when he was explaining all 90 seconds of the motorcycle scene lol each shot showed something different and wouldn't work if it were rushed. It was supposed to be a melancholy, tender moment, which can't really be achieved in 30 seconds, at least no the degree that they did with 90

Are you guys gonna do another rewatch of
The Snyder Batman films before the flash?
The Journals will end up coming back to haunt him in future films. Someone will get ahold of the journal and expose him as Batman.
I loved this movie, and the pace was one of those things. Particularly those motorcycle shots at the end were gorgeous. It really let the audience sit in the moments. I don't mind movies taking their time.
Absolutely agree the motorcycle shots at the end were so poetic and hit me emotionally
I wholeheartedly agree!!!!!!! Didn’t bother me at all! This is his director’s cut. He put in everything he wanted. This was a masterpiece.
I agree as well
I don’t mind movies taking their time.
@@JessieBanana I completely disagree on all of your points.
Carmine Falcone is Selina’s father in the “Batman: Dark Victory” and “Catwoman: When in Rome” comic books.
This is what I hear! Thank you! Please check out Friday Night Titans, would love to hear what you think! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
The movie ended and i thought...damn! That was 3hrs!? Couldve been longer and i wouldnt have felt it
Its a completly valid critisism.
There is no other cut of the film. What we got was Reeves directors cut.

Happy you loved it!!
Selina being Falcone's daughter is not a "liberty." That's straight out of Long Halloween and Dark Victory (its direct sequel).
Exactly. I almost turned this off when nobody knew that lol
Word!

@@TheKristianHarloff I definitely will! You guys are awesome!
I liked Pattinson take on Bruce Wayne, he ignored that aspect of his life to just be Batman all the time. The movie is also him realizing he's going to bed to work on his Bruce Wayne persona and i think it did a good job showing that realization and growth building up throughout the movie
True
Really loved Patinson as Batman. I was one of those fans that was skeptical when they cast Twilight Boy! He brought the best Batman to date as much as I love the Bale Batman movies.
He was great
Don't know if any of you noticed this but, when Falcone goes down.
@@KingAtreides03 Hell Yea!

Colin Farrell’s performance in Minority Report is still my favorite of his. Adding his take on the Penguin at a very very very close second.
His best performance to me was "Phonebooth" and "S.W.A.T"
His best performance was obviously in Daredevil ;). Taking people out with projectile peanuts is pretty hardcore
@@dws0828 🤣🤣🤣
His best performance is The Lobster and In Bruges
He was great in Minority Report, but his best role will always be Ray from In Bruges. I also like how he played Bullseye in the Ben Affleck Daredevil lmao
I loved that shot of him looking back it said so much without words and so much of this film was like that. Appreciate when filmmakers don’t spoon feed us. Beautiful movie!

The Batman is tied with Mask of the Phantasm for number one Batman movie with me. Definitely will be seeing it again. Great discussion, guys.

Great show

Yes he’s the best version of Batman and it’s not close. He’s so convincing as Batman it’s insane!!!

I'd love to see scarecrow in this universe. It opens the gateway to what would be some wild nightmare scenes

I equate the people that thought The Batman was boring to the same people who thought Blade Runner 2049 was boring. Both are amazing IMO
Why do people think The Batman was boring?
I wish I knew…
Most people go to the theater to have fun. The Batman is many things but fun is not a word I would use to describe it.
Liked both a lot
The beginning reminds me of Rorschach journals. People always thought the Owl represents Batman but he was just a rich guy in a suit, Rorschach was the rage and vengeance
For sure
Another great show…gotta admit I’m with Coy I really loved that ending how they kept going with the bikes and when they separate at the tunnel I eat all of that up it was poetry and really hit me emotionally…but the joker riddler scene should have been post credit that didn’t need to be there 👍👌🎥❤️but this movie really overwhelmed me…can’t wait to watch it again…I think it’s a film that will grow on people more…I have this as my second favourite behind the dark knight but tied with Batman Begins need to let this movie marinade on me to see if it’s higher or lower than begins.
I'm glad you picked up on the visual poetry of the bike scene. Absolutely beautiful and brilliantly done.

Oh yeah?
I loved Affleck's batman voice cause its a modulator
Fair
I loved this movie more than any movie in the Nolan trilogy. I did not think that would be possible. Ever. The world Reeves created, story, pacing, etc. all placed me in that world. I was fully engaged. The motorcycles at the end were taking more than a ride through the graveyard. Selena and Batman were jockeying for position, challenging each other subtly. Which way would Batman go? Only plot point that bothered me was that there was no way the cops don’t unmask Batman when they had the chance.
Glad you enjoyed
I loved it more the second time it moved a lot more and flowed including the ending

Dope movie but I think it's better than begins and dark knight rises but not better than dark knight.
it's all subjective though, Pattison sunrises me might be the best batman since Keaton.
Think so
It grabs me from the beginning, I didn't mind at all its slower pace or long running time.

It. Was. Perfect.
Damn bro..you should write poetry about batman lol good stuff 👍

I've already seen it twice and plan on it a 3rd time. It has narrowly become my favorite Batman film. This is what they imagined when they first thought about making comic book movies. I loved Batman's character arc in the film, how Bruce's humanity was absent but slowly throughout the movie he regains his humanity and you see that in the scene where he's comforting Alfred in hospital and then he realises what kind of hero he needs to be by the end and great discussion Kristian!

I was thinking the same thing about Mad Hatter
GREAT idea
Haven’t heard anyone talk about how batman was just ever so slightly hesitant about intimidating the penguin when he first met him at the club. LOVED that detail. You could tell there was a moment when he had to remind himself that he was in charge of the situation, and not this notorious gangster he’d only ever really heard about up to this point. It was a pretty subtle shift in his demeanor, but it was fantastic

Good to know!
Professor Hugo Strange is a MUST for me in this Gotham they've created.
They r making an Arkham tv show set in the batman verse so I hope to see Hugo strange
Hmmm
how are people not liking the ending! imagine if the movie se7en ended when kevin spacey went to give himself up. that's the twist he gave himself up because he knows he's doing something more. and in the case of the riddler he wanted to destroy gotham by "cleansing it", it's a city that gave him nothing but suffering and sadness and he didn't have faith that there will be change with the new mayor. the riddler won in this movie. what batman learned at the end is that vengeance is not the way to go and he has to be a symble of hope to the people of gotham. i still think that this film is a masterpiece.
Glad you dug it!
I just watched this movie again today in IMAX. This is the best Batman film to date and Pattinson is the best Batman.

Probably passed down
Cause didn't they found the city
But 75 percent of the people lose their families money in about 2 generations

I don’t get the pacing issues complaint. That’s one of its strong points. It creates the mood. I get it’s not for everyone, but like how do you guys sit through Coen brother films if you can’t stay with the long shots?
Liked it, but it felt so claustrophobic, as they kept going from scene to scene back to Falcone, the nightclub and the story got convoluted especially about Selina & Falcone.
It looked stunning though, very atmospheric, so.moody and respectful to the source material. Score was insanely good too.
What do you think about Batista playing Bane as a fan casting?
Hmmm
Losing your parents especially at a young age is a slow burn. I can't imagine losing both at once especially through murder but having lost both by 32 I can only feel for his mental and emotional state only 12 years later after seeing them killed at 10
True
Love hearing it!
I never noticed this until now....
Is Winston in front of the garage door?
Not anymore
The one thing that I would have changed in this movie is that when they’re interrogating the Penguin, I would have had the interrogation go down on the highway with police cars and ambulance and fire brigades on the scene and would have had one of the cops come up to Gordon and Batman and say, “what the hell is going on. It’s a miracle nobody got killed.”
Then have Police arrest the Penguin after the interrogation for causing a pile up, Penguin going off defiantly in cuffs wattling along saying that he’ll have bail posted by the end of the night. Would have tied up that loose end about accountability for the massive accident nicely and further emphasised the point that Batman doesn’t kill.
True

Haven’t seen the movie; and to be fair not sure when I will see it. But it was nice to get some information on the movie. Good discussion. Also; class was given (as usual)
Thank you for showing just a little!! If you haven't seen Friday Night Titans yet, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
Favorite scenes:
Batman and Catwoman when she says, you really don't care about me do you? And he just says "look at me...... Looks good".
Iceberg lounge Batman shows up:
"Do you know who I am"? *Slowly looks up*
Great one
Best part of penguin is when Batman and Gordon are interrogating him about being the rat and Gordon shows him the pictures of the commissioner death and penguin is like “Jesus what you showing me that for” very Tony soprano. And also he kinda sons them for not knowing Spanish which was dope.
Was a great scene.
The motorcycle scene at the end was them flirting one last time, and a beautiful goodbye to each other. I had zero issues with it.
Fair!
Giacchino composed Doctor Strange as well.
Yup
I love that Batman already met a (future) Robin in this movie (kind of), because the recruit of the "joker" gang, with half his face painted, is the same actor that plays Tim Drake, a.k.a. the third Robin in the comics, in the TV show 'Titans'.
Yup
I feel like that “adrenaline” shot was actually a Venom shot, the same stuff bane juices with.
Could be!
Did I miss it but did you guys not talk about that batmobile scene? When that thing started up, I was blown away. Saw it in imax and holy shit. My favorite batmobile. The tumbler was my favorite before this one. Don't know what that says about me.
Not in depth no
If this movie was cut down to two hours and 15 minutes then had an extended cut everyone would be talking about how they should have never cut it in the first place.
I’m so excited for this iteration.
Same. By the way, if you haven't had a chance to check out Friday Night titans, please give it a shot! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
It was supposed to be a melancholy, tender moment, which can't really be achieved in 30 seconds, at least no the degree that they did with 90
Thank you

Shit man I am so sorry

People say so but I couldn't hear it!
