@@CinemaBlend Every time I watch a Tarantino movie in order to enjoy it I have to put myself into the mindset of 17 year old in other words a child. He is the end result of a long process that divorced movies from their roots in theater, literature, poetry, etc. He is pretty images but functionally illiterate. The dialog is inane & puerile. His movies are full of live action cartoon characters. They take a person back to a time when they wore a diaper & ate pablum, picked their nose & ate the snot, & gorged themselves with candy bars & soda pop. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy a Tarantino movie but when I watch one of his films I find the same thing in them as I do when I watch The Three Stooges.

I will try once more, Quentin Tarantino represents one of most laughable & ridiculous things in our society today, the person who is physically & chronologically an adult but thinks, behaves & has the tastes of child. A person can enjoy his movies but must know that he/she is watching something that is childish kids-stuff. Opinion?

One thing I love about Quentin Tarantino is that not only does he not overplay any false modesty, but he absolutely 150% gets why people love his movies.

Because he also loves his movies, he almost treats his scripts as a fan. Very important to be behind your ideas 100% rather than insecure about how your art will be viewed. he's a master at that for sure

Quentin Tarantino would be so awesome to chill at the bar with talking about movies over a bottle of whiskey or brandy. I don’t get how some people can vehemently dislike him, he’s a cool dude.
He can be a bit cringey. I agree with you, but I get why some don’t like him all that much. I like how he is always himself. People react negatively to people like that.
I just think some people object to his dialogue because virtually everything seems to sound like him. I think he's a great story personally.
This is america. People are sheep. No one is who they're suppose to be based on being coerced by such a structure. That people who do find themselves are always out of balance to everyone else because of people's automatic insecurity.

That story about how Leo complexified Q's understanding of the character is amazing, really shows what a great actor can bring to a project.

@@EC-ol8nz Just to be clear, it was an expression of appreciation, respect and gratitude with a comedic spin. The comedic spin rubbed many the wrong way because it didn't look respectful at all. I typed this all to say that at no point did QT seek to disrespect him but I can see why in terms of optics some may get upset ✌🏾
@@EC-ol8nz i've heard no one else mention this yet, but the Movie Lot scenes (so Kurt Russell character, Bruce Lee (etc)) all comes right after Brad's character is shown on the roof recollecting what happened, so what is shown in the movie is not actually within the reality of the movie's events - what is shown is actually Brad's character's recollection of those events. Memory is often subjective and rarely fully accurate so what we see as the portrayal of Bruce in the movie is not actually how Bruce behaved in the timeline of the movie but how Brad's character remembers him behaving.
The question topic they asked him to start the interview was VERY good. It got immediately into the interview, got Quentin loose and was relevant, not hack and pretty thoughtful. Really appreciated the ACTUAL interviewing skills here.
Forrest Gump is a very fine movie. Pulp Fiction was the movie of the decade.

I think Mel Gibson would be perfect in a Tarantino film. Whether you like him as a person or not his acting skills are amazing, I'd love to see him speaking QT's dialogue.
Mel is great. He just has a real drinking problem. How many of us know a person who drinks way to much and has said awful shit.
@@iphonewalkthroughs I have seen that movie with Vince Vaughn and Michael Jai White. It was a good ass movie. You should check out Brawl in Cell Block 99 if you liked that one, doesnt have Mel but Vince is great in it and it's kinda similar in tone and violence.

Loving this interview. The only thing that would make it better would be video. I love Quentin's mannerisms. I think that he will get a Lifetime Achievement Oscar, btw.
I'd love for OUATIH to win the big Oscar categories for Quentin and his career the same way LOTR: Return of the King did for Peter Jackson, a sort-of salute to that entire trilogy's success and achievement.
Wow! This is the first time I’ve listened to you guys, and you did excellent work under adverse circumstances. Every minute was riveting.
When he is done with movies (hopefully never) he should open a school/institute for movie making. He knows so much and so much he could share and teach future filmmakers about themselves, the process, and creativity. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about movies. I just think there is so much he could give and aspiring filmmakers could learn.

@aprillong everyone has different tastes but even skillfully and craftsmanship of the film is not his worst... but if ur talking about story-wise or entertainment wise it's his worst then yea I can see your point of view cause everyone's tastes are different. But it being his worst film is inaccurate.

Minus Gilbert Grape, every other actor around him is so much better than he is. He can get your movie made but there are better actors out there.
@@thingshappen4062 I actually think he has evolved alot. Gilbert Grape was great, but in most occaisons his newer performances are stronger than the older.
The Revenant, Django and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood were all amazing on Leo's part. Watching his older work I agree with your statement. It feels like he is playing himself in all of them. His new stuff is amazing.

One of the best touches of the film is definitely Rick coming back from the line drop. Really upped his stakes...brilliance on both DiCaprio for coming up with it and Tarantino for seeing it's wisdom.
PS: "Can you blame a Borgia for being a Borgia?" Maybe the most important Dramatic question...Mr. Tarantino is one of the last of the Mohicans. Hope I'm wrong but hats off to him BIG TIME..!

Great interview! Once Upon A Time in Hollywood was my #1 for 2019, so I especially enjoyed this conversation. The movie has so many layers and subtext that even on my 5th viewing I still pick things up.

Great interview. Love OUATIH. I absolutely loved the ending. It was releasing watching Cliff simply destroy the murderers (along with an awesome PitBull 😄. ). It was a release of stored aggression for so many people against those criminals. I was born shortly after the Murders. But growing up all I heard was how it changed America. Q gave us back that America- if at least in a Movie. I love how Q explains how the ending basically neuters Manson and the family. There needs to be a short clip in his next movie showing the 3 way fight between Leo, Brad and Leo’s “wife” on who kept the dog after Cliff got out of hospital 🤣🤣

In thinking about why he likes you guys it’s pretty obvious you are very intelligent professional people who love film and QT. You have good questions and you are respectful and professional. I also think being a visual artist who don’t like to have his picture taken (nor do I) I think he likes podcasts without the camera and the ability to go long and deep on ideas. Great job guys. Nobody ever asks Tarantino to expand on how much he admires Elmore Leonard, and how much Leonard's work has influenced his. I feel bad for Tarantino fans who have never read Leonard. His books influence Tarantino's films more than the films Tarantino samples from.

Good questions, Good interview, only problem I had is that everytime Quentin told a joke or answered a question, somebody shifted the conversation to another question. In a short interview, I can understand that, but in a podcast that's well over 2 hours, you should allow us to process what was just said
