      the problem with turbo charged engines is the heat soak. when cars sit in traffic or in the drive thru lane, they generate a lot of engine bay heat. that heat builds up. it then will "soak the engine" in heat. high intake temps for turbo charged engines is NOT good. it can cause decreased performance. and decreased overall lifespan of the engine. the goal with a turbo charged engine is keeping it cool. NEVER idle like its a N/A engine. Turn the engine off, even if its for 1 minute.

    • @TheBRUINS1337

    The advantage of a small displacement turbocharged factory motor is it will have great low end torque which helps for fuel economy.
    The downfall of a small displacement turbocharged engine when towing is that in order to maintain freeway speeds, the motor is almost always in positive boost pressure from the turbocharger. A naturally aspirated engine will typically run around 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio when cruising. A small displacement turbocharged engine will be programmed to run around 12.5:1 when under low boost. So, it will always be less efficient while towing.
    Plus, that route on 287 from D/FW up to Raton, New Mexico and then up to Denver is gaining in elevation the entire way, which is also going to hurt fuel economy.

    • @toneyo4794
      @toneyo4794 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes! I live in Albuquerque and drive to Denver often. Elevation changes from 5,000 feet to 7,500 feet multiple times. From west Texas you go from 3,000 feet to 7,500 feet in a short distance.

      Crack-o-roof. GM was using cheaper sheet metal for the roof and a large number of Silverados suffered a significant crack in the metal. The repair was to drill holes in front of and behind the crack. Fill the mess with sealer and bondo over it and repaint it.

    So glad to hear you made it home safe. Also glad to hear that the new Tacoma’s seats and engine are better. The small gas tank in our 2019 Tacoma becomes a source of frustration whenever I’m towing our gear and motorcycles for trips or events. Especially when we’re headed out for 6-12 hour drive it feels like we have to stop for gas every 75 miles because we’re worried we might not make it to the next gas station 50 miles away. Can’t wait to see more!

    If i were to ever buy a new truck to replace my current truck, which happens to be a 2011 Tacoma it would definitely be this. A new TRD off road i love the 24 mpg number and for me personally and i think the majority of Tacoma buyers the towing mpg numbers dont matter that much. Most people in the market for this size truck aren't towing regularly what matters is the fact the truck can tow a trailer of this size if you wanted to. Folks towing regularly i think obviously would be looking at Tundra's or even larger. Great video guys keep the Tacoma content coming, cant wait to see it off road where this truck will hopefully shine.

    Adaptive cruise control is one of the few tech options I would pay good money for. I've been to Florida, Texas and back from Michigan several times and ACC makes driving So So much more stress free and easier. You can set your distance spacing from vehicles in front and the system will speed match up/down for whatever is in front and emergency deceleration is pretty strong in case you're not paying attention. Pay attention! My 8700 lb 2020 Ford Transit 350 HD dually camper van has the optional 31 gallon fuel tank with a range of just about 400 miles. It's sad that truck gets a smaller tank. I mean, most people buying trucks now won't actually use it for truck stuff, so when you aren't towing the improved fuel economy with the smaller tank gives you solid range. Many people who live in cities are going to be using this for their daily commute to work or to the store. This being an off road variant, it wouldn't be out of the question to have fuel cans on it for when you're wheeling or camping.

    TFL guys thanks for the video showing off the new Taco. I love the boxy outside and boxy inside lines. I'm a GM guy and my next truck will be a Colorado Trail Boss but DANG that new Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road looks good, but specced the way I want it would be about $48,640 before the mark ups most Toyota Tacomas get, then my 10% sales tax so over $55K compared to a Colorado Trail Boss specced the way I want it for $42K, so after tax would be $47K and I am much more likely to get the dealer to go below MSRP on the Colorado than the Taco. But man that Taco does make me consider it. The Taco you pay more but you do get more in the off road suspension, and sway bar if optioned, I wouldn't pay for it, and the best part a manual transmission, but I don't want to pay over $45K for a truck so the TB is more in my price range.

      What are you driving? A 1989 Ford Ranger? Yes dont' trust the Toyota engineers. Trust a random post on you tube. He "knows" it needs an oil change at 3000 miles cause daddy did it 45 years ago. @@andersonrodriguez8258

    value your channel. The variety🙃 is great. Gosses Garage was a long running info source for me. He said topping off gas tank after the initial full shutoff will soak the charcoal canister .and cause gasoline fumes.
