  • In this video, I take my 2024 Toyota Tacoma for a drive and address some of the unfair criticisms circulating on TH-cam. Many TH-camrs have been creating negative content about the 2024 Tacoma, focusing on three main areas: claims that sales are horrible and the truck is a flop, predictions of future reliability issues, and highlighting isolated problems caught on video. I believe these videos are often generated for clicks rather than providing an accurate representation of this incredible truck.
Join me as I debunk these myths and share my firsthand experiences with the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road in manual transmission. Discover why the Tacoma remains a top choice for truck enthusiasts and how features like the Safety Sense 3.0 suite enhance its drivability and safety. We'll delve into the facts and separate sensationalism from reality to give you a comprehensive, unbiased review.
If you're considering buying a 2024 Toyota Tacoma or simply want to learn more about its capabilities and features, this video is for you. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more in-depth truck reviews and updates on the latest automotive trends!

You’re will not really know about the faults of this vehicle for about 2 years. There are no statistics about what percentage of vehicles that have problems that I can find. Will these engine last as long as the old ones, only time will tell. Like with any new vehicle you take your chances when you buy the first year. Toyota usually stands behind its products.

It looks like the maximum boost is 15lbs. That is a very conservative number. Keeping the cylinder pressures low says that toyota is focusing on the longevity of the tacoma.

It’s real easy to pick on the new kid on the block, and especially when it comes to cars. I have had my six speed for a little over a month and have almost 3000 miles on it and have had no issues with the transmission or the engine. I think anybody takes a risk whenever you buy a new vehicle whether it’s a first version or 10th version of the car. In the end, no matter what you can’t keep everybody happy And everybody loves to complain

Total bs on the 5 to 1 gear change if you watch the video they have a camera directly on the dash and he barely goes over 4k rpms. Been driving manuals all my life and the gear synchros won't let you just slip into 1st gear at higher speeds from a higher gear. It's not like an automatic where you can slap the shifter to whatever you want just doesn't work like that. Also if the truck cant handle 4500 rpm that's just ridiculous. Great video and agree with what you're saying about everything else.

As a whole, the prices on most automobiles have been raised in 2024 as compared to 2023 due to newly innovations and inflation. The housing market is no exception to this rule as well. I bought a 2024 Tacoma off-road this year with the premium package. I have no regrets. The sticker was approx. $51,000 and with my trade-in, I only financed approx. $32,000 out the door after the paperwork. I never finance a vehicle over 5 years since they drop in value after you pull off the lot. My new Tacoma shifts much better and has faster torque response than my former 2018 Tacoma 3rd generation. I am not worried about the turbo 2.4L engine in my Tacoma. I trust their innovation since I have owned Toyotas since 2004. Yes, anything can go wrong in a new generation of vehicles. However, as low as I financed the truck it's a no brainer to buy one now since I like them, and I have positive equity in the vehicle. The new technology in my Tacoma is great as compared to the 3rd gen. I created a hotspot in my truck for my internet accessories. It works great! I love the JBL system using the Sirius XM radio.

Also point out when TCCN interviewed the chief engineer for the Tacoma, they explained that the reason they detuned the engine with the manual is because they "they couldn't control your right foot' and a TH-camr "The Car Guy Online" came to conclusion is that the transmission isn't overbuilt as they used to be. They could've beefed up the transmission instead of detuning the engine smh

It is all about views and hating on Tacoma, don't really understand that type of thinking. Sales were 69,500 for the first 6 months of the year and it is starting to ramp. Sales are what Toyota expected or you would have seen huge July 4th incentives. It also continues to lead mid sized truck sales, much to the surprise of many of these said you tubers. In my view, a truck breaking during off roading is not really reliability issues. Lots of things break when extreme off roading and most people do not off road so most will not have the issue. I have a 2023 and 2024 off road and love my 4th gen- 4.5 months and no issues as of yet. Oh and finally if you think it is too expensive, don't buy it. Don't worry about what others do with their money.

But they have launched some sweet 36-month lease deals in my region. $279 or $374/mo depending on "due" at signing. That should get more into the hands of fence sitters. Each averages a little over $400/month which is a pretty good deal. I'm not a lease person but for those who worry about a turbo repair at 105,000 miles, there you go. btw - I test drove one and formed my own opinion. I came away with the impression that it is a Tacoma.

@@calembo7124 I don't think there is any question the off road can hold it's own as we have seen on several videos. I should have said more than routine off roading. The amount of torque put on the taco by TFL was crazy in that specific instance. (It should have been in 4 hi in my opinion) and it broke the front wheel drive but still had rear wheel drive. I didn't watch the manual video so cannot comment on that, but it is not uncommon to see the MTS and crawl control used incorrectly and the Tacoma does fine.

I agree with most of what you said. Sales-count videos are mostly ignoring the ramp-up time. I am familiar with both the TFL and Truck King situations, and I'm not totally convinced that Truck King shifted 5-1 instead of 5-3. I've watched his tach during the shift and it did not go near redline. Between 1975 and 2005 I drove a lot of manual transmission cars and trucks, and never - not once - accidentally shifted 5-1 instead of 5-3. Back then the synchros would have made that a very difficult shift. It just seems like quite a stretch; but maybe that driver does not have a ton of manual shifting experience.
However you have missed one important topic. In addition to the Tundra engine issues which trace back to metal shavings left in the engine, there are some number of reports of Tacoma transmissions having a similar situation of metal shavings blowing-up the transmissions in almost new vehicles.
I plan to buy a truck around the end of this year. For over a year I have assumed that I will get a Tacoma. But, now, the Tundra engine issues and Tacoma transmission issues have me very hesitant to buy a Tacoma. Whatever I purchase I plan to keep maybe 15 years. Long-term reliability is very important. I am strongly leaning towards one of two non-turbo trucks -- either the Nissan Frontier or a low trim level F-150 with 5.0 V8. Those two actually get about the same gas mileage and the F-150 has a lot more interior space, although it costs more initially.

I am sure that new tacomas have had some issues with engines and transmissions but remember that any machine is going to have a certain number of failures. The cases are anecdotal (I know it sucks if you are one of them) and Toyota will watch all the data and alert us to anything failures above what is expected. There are almost 70,000 Tacomas out there and will be over 100,000 by year’s end.

The first year of any vehicle is a bit of a risk because it really has to be tested and improved on like they did for 20ish years in the last gen. I agree with you on the early Tacoma sales. Another reason for the low sales is that the EPA prevented them from deliveries. Also because Toyota has been producing so many lower grade models like the SR and SR5. People want the TRD series and sales numbers in the past years has confirmed this so they are waiting for the TRD series and the release of the trucks with the I Force Max hybrids to come out. If you look at the days that the 4th gen Tacomas and all of Toyota in general) have sat on the lots, the number is lower than any other auto maker. You are correct about UTubers. You showed a quick view of the ones that bash the Tacoma and we both know which ones they are. All of these UTubers want Tacoma sales to flop or increase their “wow factor” to increase their revenue stream. A large amount of the negativity of the new gen Toyota are ones that have never driven them or have just purchased a 3rd Gen within the past couple of years. The new Tacomas are higher priced than the previous gens but you get a so much better truck with so much better tech and that is going to cost more. Thanks for your video. It makes a lot of sense.

Last year I test drove the 3rd gen it was dry and tight I actually liked the Nissan frontier better, however I really wanted a Tacoma so I waited for the 4th gen, took it for a test drive and I was sold on it right away. No I don’t have a lot of km on it yet but based on manufacture it is now broken in, I have done my first oil change at 1000 miles and so far I love it. I drove a hemi 1500 for 13 years. Can I compare them? Dah no !!! But I also didn’t need a full size truck no more and gas prices have doubled since 13 years ago. O yea and I’m shy of 40 and I want a brand which is reliable and that keeps its value. With all that said the 4th gen Tacoma is a great match based on my needs. Would I like to have the pro or the trail hunter of course but again I don’t need to tow or go off roading. However because I live in Alberta I went with the off road trim due to snow in and potholes. 😅sorry for the long comment. reasons i hate the 2024 tacoma.
    1. It isn't a small truck.
    2. You can't get a 2wd MT.
    3. The MT only comes with a tiny 5" bed.
    4. It gets less the 20 MPG.

No other good manuals left on the market. So while your complaints are valid, they do need to be commended for at least still offering it.
The Gladiator manual is a horrible experience so it doesn’t count.

maybe not 20K but the new Tacoma offers well over 10k in added capability and features depending on the trim.
We had a 23 SV premium for just over a year and sold it recently. It was a solid truck but after driving several 24 Tacomas it's a pretty stark difference in capability. The taco does everything better. I get the value proposition of the Frontier but the only thing it has over the new Taco is 2 extra cylinders. The 3.8 is still a high revving NA 6 cylinder that makes all of its power way up in the power band. It's a smooth power train but still falls short of the 2.4 turbo in responsiveness. It doesn't even compare to hybrid. Pretty obvious Toyota spent more money on their truck than Nissan did

No hate here, but on that note the new Tacoma is 100 percent built in Mexico, it has a 4 cylinder turbo and is prices are about 8 to 10 K over other mid sized trucks. I believe thats why people are leaving the Taco behind!!

    • @planoman0935
      @planoman0935 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

@@Jojo-ni2cg so a couple of things. The engines and transmissions are built in Alabama and shipped to Mexico to be installed. Some Tacomas have been built in Mexico since 2004 and all of them since 2019 so not really sure what people mean when they say that? Finally, there are 12 trims of Tacoma and the SR and SR5 are selling less than the upper trims so I guess not everyone thinks they are 8-10k more than other mid sized trucks since they are still selling more Tacomas than any other mid size truck. My question to you is how much more of any do you think it cost to make a 2024 over a 2023.? Do you think Toyota is immune from supply chain price increases that we have all seen?
