Had a few issues where the screen went black before the recall. I drive it like a sports sedan, and I've been getting 40-45mpg. Occasionally in slow traffic I get 50mpg.

    So glad to see Honda go the opposite direction of the Prius, which looks AWFUL in my opinion. This is looks perfect, and I actually love the wheels so I'll have to give you one zonk there Raiti. My lease is up in December so I was thinking about a Civic, but now this is top of my list. I don't see myself plugging in anytime soon, so this is perfect. I am a little worried about those arm rests though, especially with no shifter to rest my hand on.

    Great review! I’ve had this on my sedan list to take a look at, I actually think this is nicer than the Civic. And 50+ MPG is CRAZY! Curious, have you got the Acura ILX on your review list....or have you reviewed it and I missed it? Would be very interested in seeing a review of that car. You can get one (pre-owned) for about the same price as a used Civic. I think they are basically the same car, but the Acura IMO is much nicer looking than the Civic.

    Been carving traffic on the commute with my 2020 Insight and I'm still getting 41.5mpg. Got the Touring with the ivory leather and the metallic crimson paint. Been driving trucks and my old reliable 2001 Pathfinder 5 speed manual for the last 20 years. Got into this, and well, it's faster than my old type 2 VW Scirocco I had. Pretty sweet ride for $25,288. Offered them $24,888 for the touring and they came back only +$400 so I nabbed it. (Kept the Pathfinder for runs to Home Depot & whatnot. And well, duh...a 5 speed manual with a V6! Very rare & special! Ton of fun on dirt roads. 4WD ain't bad either. But 2WD with that manual is dirt drift city!)

    I own a 2019 insight and love the car, I’ve had it since November and already but 10,000 miles on it for work. Only down side of the car I have seen is the sound of the engine when reach speeds more than 65mph. It just gets loud but I’m use to it now and don’t notice it until someone says something. But I have the EX model which is the one below the touring, I recommend that because you get a lot of the features of a touring but you’ll miss out of the leather seats, nav, sun roof, and other small stuff not really worth mentioning. I love the car and recommend to anyone who wants to save money on gas since it’s only a 10 gallon tank!

      I've had my 2019 Insight Touring since last July and love it also. The extra features on the touring model are more then worth the extra dollars. I get almost 500 miles per tank in the city during the summer in ECO mode even with its small 40 liter tank. I rarely ever go over 65 mph so the engine noise never bothers me. The only down side that I can think of is I'm a little disappointed in the highway mpg but most of my mileage are in the city & I get incredible mpg in the city. If I did a lot of highway driving I would have seriously considered the Corolla hybrid as it gets better mpg on the highway as opposed to the Insight which is much better in the city.

    • @jacobwright9349
      @jacobwright9349 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @henryhonda8408
      @henryhonda8408 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so correct Jacob..... you can't beat the smooth ride of the Insight. I never test drove a Corolla so I have no idea what it drives like, all I know for sure is Toyotas are very reliable & the Corolla gets great highway gas mileage. (they must have the secret sauce for highway mpg) My Insight gets about the same highway mpg as my 2002 Civic EX did in the past as I drove countless highway miles back & forth commuting to work on a major expressway. I'm not a fan of the new Civic as it mostly has Turbo engines & that's a deal breaker for me.

    My 2016 Honda Civic EX deathtrap. If your Honda has an electronic/electric parking brake it might cause you to crash.
    While driving my 2016 Honda Civic EX around 20 mph the electric parking brake engaged locking up and sliding the rear tires. The car was jerking. A light came on the dash saying 'computer error, have the parking brake serviced'. If I was traveling at a high speed and the electric parking brake locked the rear tires the car would go out of control and crash.
    The car is unsafe to drive so I had it hauled to the Honda of Cleveland Tenn service department. They worked on the car and the service department manager said nothing they did addressed or corrected the electronic/electric parking brake malfunction. The car was returned to me on 7/23/2019 .
    I ask the American Honda Motor Co., Inc for compensation,on 8/4/19 and on "08/09/19 they refused, saying the problem with the electric parking brake had been "repaired". Obviously not true. The brake problem has not been repaired and all these cars should be recalled. I'm sure they did not bother to look into the problem at all. The following is their reply:
    "08/09/2019"
    "Dear John
    Thank you for the reply.
    We have received the requested information and after further review of the diagnosis from Honda Cleveland the vehicle was repaired. We have looked into your request for compensation and we regret to inform you that American Honda Motor Co., Inc will not be in the position to provide the compensation requested.
    Kind regards,
    Honda Automobile Customer Service

    Truthfully, the wheels on the Insight are muchhhhh better compared to other hybrids. I feel like Toyota and Kia/Hyundai pick the ugliest rims for their hybrids. Also, the end of the Insight is beautiful. I think the Accord looks fine, but it could look nice on the Civic too.

  • @dsanti4069

    Some hybrids don’t make financial sense if you do the math . Cost of the car , depreciation compare to a slightly used car that is thousands cheaper will save you more money . If you’re buying hybrid to be green and care less about money, than I can understand

  • @WatsitTooyah
    @WatsitTooyah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those wheels aren't bad at all. But otherwise I still prefer the Ioniq. 47 highway is actually a little pathetic in comparison to what the Ioniq brings. This is a result of drag coefficient (which I don't think was stated) and CVT drivetrain losses. DCT's are more efficient, especially at highway speeds. That's not even to mention the difference in feel between a cvt and dct. The interior is a bit nicer in the Insight.

    • @mexkdspEd44
      @mexkdspEd44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference is mpg is also due in part to differences in how Honda's hybrid system operates. Hyundai's is a more efficient system but Honda stuck with theirs because it's proven to be reliable for them. The main difference is the "CVT" you mentioned. Honda calls the car's transmission an e-CVT but it seems that's mainly in an effort to use a term that's familiar to most people. As Raiti stated though, the car doesn't have a transmission, it's direct drive. Which is more reliable than an actual CVT but gets worse milage at high speeds. But avoiding an actual CVT is always a plus in my book lol.

    $29K and no lumbar and no home link. Don't nickel and dime us on the spare wheel, at least give us a donut wheel. The paddle style is great , but one of those paddles should be on demand full on braking similar to the volt. You don't need two separate paddles. Other than that, love the styling for a hybrid and to break the 50mpg marker is great.

    It's 1.5 seconds faster to 60 than a Prius and a Corolla hybrid too! Driving Dynamics of a Honda, good tech, good room, best and I mean the best looks, excellent pricing, latest safety features. Why even argue at this point? I like the way the world is shifting to hybrid cars. It's not so different from petrol cars in that you don't need charging, and now they look even better, are faster and more responsive, still not expensive, and have fuel economy breaking records.
