@@oscarm.3593 Right now where I live 1 gallon is $2.72. This past month gas has gone up. Yesterday I had about 1 gallon left of fuel and I filled up with a little less than $24. And my total range went up to 589 miles. Hope this helps.

Honda hybrids are criminally underrated. The CRZ, civic hybrid and Insight used to come in manual.

  • @Speedysnail9999

I think the reason it doesn’t sell comes down to a lot of factors:
    1) As you mentioned, some people probably don’t even know the Insight still exists, or only think of the 1st gen.
    2) Going off previous point, for the average car buyer who probably doesn’t know or care much about cars, the only Hondas they only know coming into the dealership are probably Civic, Accord, CRV, and maybe Odyssey. And when it comes to hybrids, they probably think Prius.
    3) Sedans are dying. It hurts to think that, but when normal gasoline powered sedans aren’t selling as great compared to SUVs and crossovers, hybrid sedans are even lower in numbers.
    4) Economy. Don’t know how it is for everyone else in the US, but here in Pennsylvania, gas averages around $2.50/gal right now. With gas being so “cheap,” people are ok spending more money on gas guzzlers and high powered cars. Very apparent when I see probably 3x as many 3rd gen Prius (2009 economy crisis & $4/gal era) on the road than current 4th gen Prius.
Just a few of my thoughts, really sucks because this car is really nice and great for a more mainstream look.

I think you are right. I didn't even know the insight existed until I just happen to see a TH-cam review of one while researching the Prius Prime. When I went to look at one the dealership seemed shocked. They actually wanted to show me a Civic or Accord. I liked the Insight better than both of those cars. It is a good mix between the two. It is a shame they don't advertise and expose the public to this car more. Most people think I am driving an Accord until I correct them.

Got the 2021 insight Touring a couple of months ago. I cant be more happier. My friends were surprised and not aware of this honda model. I think its because it has an identity crisis...it looks a lot like a bigger civic and smaller accord..so when people see it, they dont recognize a totally different car unless they read the back emblem.
Anyway, love the gas mileage, quiet cabin, ample power for my need, awesome exterior and great interior designs. 👍👍

Hey I have a 2020 Insight touring. Got it in October of 2020, and so far put 9000 miles on it. How much mpg do u average? I drive mostly in the city and get 40-42 mpg, I can never get near the 51 city mpg rating. Also the engine does get kinda loud when accelerating, kind of annoying.

I used to have a heavy foot, but after learning how to drive "normally" on this car (which i admit theres a learning curve) coz this is my first hybrid, after a while ive gotten used to it...im quite happy with it. I use cruise control whever possible-the adaptive Cruise control makes it easy too.

You have very good pacing. One of the biggest detractors on videos like this is people dwelling or moving to fast. I give your pacing and detail a 10/10. My only bit of advice would be to include the paid add at the end of the video (if the sponsor allows it). Keep making good videos. You had Doug Demuro vibe going on!

12:20 I believe size is a primary reason Accords have sold better. We Americans generally prefer larger vehicles, even when smaller ones are more practical. There isn't too much difference in the price or fuel economy and the Accord is much more known.
I love my Camry Hybrid, but now realize it's just a bit too much car for me. I never have passengers or cargo. Would love to have an Insight or something its size for my next vehicle.

It’s all branding, the Accord has a decades long reputation, people know about it. I’m about to buy this car and I’d never even heard of it. I only discovered it when looking for Prius alternatives. I think they should have marketed this as a Civic Hybrid since that’s essentially what it is. It would definitely be more popular since that’s their top selling car.

Honda needs to advertise this car more. Interior space (leg room) both front and back are the same as a 2015 era Accord, plenty big. Dealers should be selling way more of these...

Honda is doing a shot job of marketing this car’s redesign. Yeah, the ugly insights from the past are still in people’s minds. I’m in the market for a new car and didn’t even consider the Insight because of what I remember of it. Only when I realized it was redesigned and has gotten great reviews did I decide that this is my next car. I also think the Accord outsells it is because it is a larger car and more powerful. I honestly think if they had called this a Civic Hybrid, it would have sold way more.

My ideas as to why few bought it:
1.) Lack of marketing on Honda's part.
2.) To tie into point 1, when folks think of fuel-efficient hybrids these days, we all know what the first car that comes to mind is: the Prius.
3.) I think some hybrids have an identity crisis regarding who they're for. The folks that are really stressing about their gas mileage are the low-income drivers that often find themselves priced out of getting a new hybrid, more often than not feeling like they're more expensive than a brands base trim entry car, but maybe not as expensive as the mid-tier sedan that said brand offers.
