    I remember when we got our 336 baler. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven.
    Haying became a much more enjoyable experience.

      I grew up with a New Holland 273, but this 336 has been solid for years.

    Fun to watch. I remember lot's of grasshoppers would make it through the combine. Thank you Dave.

      Yeah we had tons of them. They hop into you and grab with little claws and surprise you when you’re working.

      That second load was very nice. It sold quickly to people with gardens to cover.

    Another harvest season done👍
    Ya, husks and hulls don't do much, but they do still make feed, just not as good without the grote.

    Nice bales of golden straw. A little more rain this year sure would have helped yields. But, it could have been worse

    Excellent video - we run a JD square baler with pan kicker.

      The 336 has been a very reliable baler for us.

    Well Dave, the 4400 did its job again. I'm currently in the process of changing out the water pump in mine - was trying to track down a coolant leak a couple weeks ago and finally realized that the water pump was going bad - the pulley shaft wobbles and I'm sure now that that is the leak problem. Your straw looks very nice. Glad you have a market for it. I got a nice crop of straw too and there is an old "mom and pop" hardware store in town (open since 1936) that buys all my straw from me and pays very well. It's good to have a market for things.

      Nice that you have a market. We got a good price for the oats, but I’ll have to advertise the straw. Thanks for the reminder, I should check my water pump. I had to replace one on the old 4400. I wonder if it’s a weak point.

      I had the radiator recored last year and my friend Cory told me that I should just go ahead and either change or rebuild the water pump. Problem was, a new pump wasn't available and the local JD dealer couldn't garentee me that they wouldn't crack the old pump if they tryed to press it apart. Then I would be out of luck with no replacement. At the time it seemed to be working, so I left it alone. Luckily, this year, a new pump IS available, so I got one and am ready to put it in. In the case of my 4400, I don't think it's a weak point as much as it was old. Looks original.@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn

      I have a full combine spare out back but it’s a gas engine so I’m not sure the water pump would fit the 329 diesel in the newer 4400.

    Some very nice looking straw! Have you gotten any measurable rain lately?

    • @Rollinghillsfarmsmn
      @Rollinghillsfarmsmn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We got a half inch couple days ago. Enough for the lawn to green up, sort of.

    Good morning Dave.
    We are down to feeding the cattle bales of CRP to supplement the failing pasture.
    We have had on .7 inches of rain since the 2nd week of May. We are fast approaching 9 inches below average rainfall.

    • @Rollinghillsfarmsmn
      @Rollinghillsfarmsmn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      CRP is nice to have as a backup. I hope we get enough snow to recharge the soil moisture, or we’re going to have serious issues planting in the spring.

      @@Rollinghillsfarmsmn , I wonder if we could even get a planter in the ground in the spring. Man oh man! Is it ever hard right now. Glad I don’t have any steel posts to drive.

  • @tractortalkwithgary1271

    The bales are much nicer to unload if they are hand stacked on the wagon.

      @Rollinghillsfarmsmn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it makes it a lot more efficient, plus it’s good exercise.
