It wouldn't surprise me that large-scale vaporators will be modeled after Star Wars ones as close as possible, just because there's so many Star Wars fans out there, from the scientists all the way to the product designers.
Also, it'a a smart touch the vaporators are white as to reflect as much heat as possible to keep the bars cool. It was probably unintentional, but it makes functional sense.

1: 57 Yes, it's powered by a large photovoltaic solar panel, which is why there are heavy gauge wires going to the Peltier device under the substrate. This is just a rehash of Solus and Water Seer, which also made outlandish claims about their ability to harvest water using solar power. The MOS increases the condenser's surface area, but I've gone down the rabbit hole for this, and all the links on their website are the same kind of "business networking" rubbish you find for other failed Kickstarters.

  • @hatac

The technology in the real world are called air wells and there are several passive designs predating star wars. The oldest is a free stone dome with gaps in it that shades a free stone block pile inside. The structure self shades so the water condenses and stays cold draining to a cistern. This structure is in the Sahara and is at least 2 millennia old. Another design has a pipe under ground filled with gravel. The intake and out let pipes are at different heights air flows is there is wind. Powered fans are an option. Again it has a cistern. A third design has a polymer condensation surface, similar to a dew collector but in a deeply shaded wind trap.
Powered air well the size of fridges are now common appliances in homes in several desert countries. Various armies have trailer mounted units that can deploy to areas where its needed.

Warmer air can hold more water, which is the reason why summers are far more humid than winters and why summers drive more storms. Water vapor is an essential ingredient for thunderstorms. So when you cool warmer air down, it can't hold as much water and so it coagulates or condensates on a surface. Pretty neat idea for the concept of moisture vaporators.
