I have a very fond memory about Sheathipede. I RPed an ex-Inqisitor character, making my way across the Galaxy after battle of Endor. We got invited to a high-stake auction on Muunilinst and successfuly bid for two lots: Sheatipede-class shuttle and restored Crab Droid. On the way back over Muunilinst capital, we were attacked by local biker gang. I asked DM: "Can Crab Droid magnetize?" She answered: "Yes, why?" Then I opened a cargo bay and order Crab Droid to fire on bikers. They stood no chance to Sheatipede-turned-Technical.
I love smaller ships like these... they make me think about liveaboard sailboats and van life lol. If you ever compare to ships from other properties, you might want to check out the ships of Star Citizen.
I have one for you. The Incom A-24 Sleuth. Length of 14 meters, top speed of 1000 km/h and equipped with an x1 hyperdrive and two fire-linked laser cannons. Often used as a courier ship or a hyperdrive-enabled life pod.
The star wars equivalent of a pickup truck. (the falcon is more of a big rig, which makes it significantly more hilarious when Han snuck up on Vader in it.)
I swear the hwk-290 is like a bag of holding, that bad boy has so much space in it and can carry so much for being a supposed small "light freighter" it's insane
For some reason Star Wars measures cargo by mass instead of volume, so perhaps the HWK has powerful repulsorlifts and can carry very heavy cargo only as long as it isn’t very big.
@@RadioFreeCoruscant I understand that and know that's most likely the case, but it's honestly kind of funny and mind-boggling to think of it just being able to carry all of that stuff easily. Good little ship.
Personally I like Luthens Fondor Haulcraft. It’s been modified enough to do some serious damage, more than fast enough for the getaway and it’s got room inside for traveling. Plus it’s very unique looking.
I love this video and I've been dying to see what the inside of a quadjumper looks like for the last 20 years. Any way you want to make a video on the inside of a quadjumper maybe do the inside of all the ships I know none of us have ever seen them. Thanks again and again I totally dig your channel man
@@RadioFreeCoruscant HOLY SHI....CRAP! That video is what directed me to Redbubble to order those stickers for my helmet! Looks like Henry inspired two people to action! Congrats on your channel! Now Subscribed!
Kinda like the Dayvan. I agree with you, the tail would be a good place to mount some hookups for cargo containers. Sort of a flying road train, like. I haven't got into Star Wars since I was a kid, but I still love all the designs! The Dayvan is my favorite here, with the Hawk and Quadjumper tied for second. Anyone exploring the galaxy would be pleased to have a ship like these! (Well, they might need some paint and upholstery!)
I’m using the Imperial Light Shuttle in my roleplaying game - I’ve named it the Iota-Class Light Shuttle - also managed to include a rebel broadcasting station for exposition, that I call RFC ;)
Great video as always. I would be interested in a size comparison because I'm guessing you'd include some of the more interesting ships, instead of just the same ones that are in every size comparison. Also, I'd be interested in a video of a starship you designed, but I know something like that can take way too long.
I think the 'Mobile Tac-Pod' from Andor could also function as a suitable small transport, if sufficiently modified i.e. a small bunk for the pilot, and a small aftermarket hyperdrive.
I have a thing for this kind of ship. They're small enough to be operated by a single pilot, just big enough to be live aboard ships or be used to rescue someone in a pinch. Even better, some of them like the Breon HDY-39 and the Quad Jumper are cheap enough that someone who was less than wealthy could own one. I think I'd probably go with the Quad Jumper. It's common enough to not raise an eye and with the largish engines it would have to have some performance potential. I wonder what could be done with varying engine thrust to improve the ship's agility? A properly set up one might give TIE jockeys a little trouble.
One of my fav for table to and rpg, was the little yt-600. A 20m x18m x4m cec freighter... it was the box van of ships. Unarmed and unshielded, it would haul freight between systems on feeder routes. However like all cec ships it could be customized. Bigger engines, shields, weapons, and carry out a ton of jobs
if you want to do size comparison videos, then a great start would be to re-visit older videos (like this one will be by the time you do one) and add a size comparison segment at the end. seeing these different ships when you talk about them is cool and all, but also seeing them, from smallest to biggest would be neat at the end. :D
Bro it’s a great topic! I’d like to see a video on airspeeders that can also reach orbit. I like to speculate about T-47 Sniwspeeders because they are similar to T-16s like Luke had and they can reach orbit. Also I wonder about rebels wearing x-wing “space” flight suits in ESB if Snowspeeders are just glorified gliders. They have two ion thrusters to the Skyhopper’s single. Something is up!
I was hoping to see the Delta-7 from Jedi Starfighter in here but I guess that's more of a fighter than a personal transport (although it is used for both). Cool little ship, though
My understanding is that the Dayvan in Andor was fitted with engines from an old Y-Wing that was also in the ship yard as the Dayvan was. If you look at the scenes of the ship yard in Andor, you'll notice a Y-Wing missing its engines.
There’s another ship further down the row that *also* has Y-Wing engines, and we know from a blurb from an upcoming reference book that the Dayvan is a Koensayr product, so I think it is more likely that the Dayvan had these engines to start with and the unidentified ship took the Y-Wing engines.
I know, it’s ridiculous! There was the Dawn of the Rebellion Visual dictionary from last year, but that was only about Andor, Kenobi, BB S1-2, and Rebels, but I’ve heard it was like 99% Rebels content and stuff that we already knew, so I haven’t checked it out yet. There’s also going to be a new Encyclopedia book coming out this winter that looks promising, but it’s about all of Star Wars and it looks like the amount of info it gives on each topic is going to be slim.
You may have covered this subject b4 but im curious. Did flight suits by either side actually give any protection in outer space? And would there have been search and rescue teams to maybe save pilots from either side, especially to gain enemy intel after a battle?
I also like small ships, and like you, on this list my favorite is the Breon Dayvan. I do have a question, wouldn't Dooku's Punworcca Solar Sailer be counted on this list? If it were, that would be my favorite
OT/ But how much would it cost and how difficult to modify one of these size ships into a hotted up hero ship? Upgrading sublight drives (and manoeuvrability) shields, and adding weapons, plus the usual upgrades like sensors and targeting systems ect. The hyperdrive would be a separate upgrade because its a fixed cost item that is slotted in, and some ships don't the upgrade. And hyperdrives matter only for FTL travel time, not for survival in a combat or other precarious situation.
What are the small, modular cargo shuttles all over the place in Star Wars Outlaws? They look a little like sheathipedes but are very clearly not that class.
Those are Utilipedes, one of my favorite ships of the last few years! That model was originally designed for one of the restaurants in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World, but the Outlaws version is a little more refined since you can see it a lot closer up. It is a similar ship to the Sheathipede, and was made by the same company.
That, I’m not sure. Maybe the boarding ramp matches seamlessly with the hull, or it’s on the inside in the cargo area and you need to drop a cargo pod before you can get out or something. Or the canopy opens like a starfighter, but that almost seems less practical.
@@RadioFreeCoruscant they’ve shown them with the canopy hinged forward but not enough to allow access from the side. And from the top seems ridiculous. Probably just a game oversight.
They don't need to. Repulsorlift technology means they can fly up above a planet's atmosphere while still only going at sub-sonic speed. At a climb rate of 100 m/s, reaching a height of 64 km/40 miles, (which is above any significant atmosphere on an Earth-like planet) takes just over 10 minutes. Once you're in space, the in-atmosphere speed no longer applies.
