Gran Turismo could learn so much from pc2. I played this game so much compared to gt sport, due to the career. Loved signing a contract, racing the calendar and have to qualify for your starting postition. Having damage and the weather changes makes it even better.
Review is spot on! I Jumped into this after not playing for 2yrs. = WoW i can't believe how the graphics are /were, that good, still today. After playing AC, PC2 is eye candy, then add the night racing & weather its really good. Sound FX (cars) is well done. Using a controller (yea i know) - the problem is some of the Cars setups, some are very hard to setup ie: LMP3 w/ controller ugh! Just never feel right. Also the front end in 90% of cars is numb, no feeling of the road, like ice & most have no FFB, only when braking. Hope for a new PC (#4) sim game
Best Sim Racer ever made, hands down, not even debatable. I still run PJC2 as my Primary. PJC3 was an insult, and even though I run AC, ACC, GTSport, Rfactor 1&2, Raceroom etc, not a single one of them can hold a candle to PJC2. Thumbs on on the CC though, his review is grossly inaccurate. There are no issue with the ai, and the simulation is spot on. I bought it twice at full price, PC and PS4. and would do so again with no regrets. No sim out there is as complete and some are worthy of refunding. Bottom line PJC2 is THE STANDARD, everything else including the new titles need to catch up.
I bought Pcars 2 as my first game when I still used a Dual Shock 4 controller on PC. Multiplayer was basically non existent. I upgraded to Assetto Corsa while still on the controller. AC was way better feeling and easier with a controller and had more content. I revisited Pcars 2 with wheel, and the FFB just felt wack. The FFB basically feels like a centering spring almost as if it has a steering damper on it. No FFB fine tuning fixed this for me. TLDR: Don't but it if you don't already have Assetto Corsa. Even if you do, I don't recommend it. Assetto Corsa is only 5 bucks for all content + free modded content.
I have a g29 and in pc2 i found some great ffb settings that allow me to feel the kerbs, feel the car slipping and a good amount of bumps. From time to time i have some clipping, but i solve this by lowering a bit the ffb intensity. With some cars i feel more, with others i feel less, but in average i have a pretty good amount of infos about the car from the wheel I prefer to sacrifice a bit the intensity of the ffb to have a more clear and consistent feeling of the car It took a lot of time for me to find these settings, but they are good imo. It's easier to go fast, to be consistent and to catch the car

On console, GT Sport kicks PCars2 to the curb. Everything is just so polished on it. But PCars2 has absolute flexibility in picking any car, any track, and time (day or night) and any weather. That's a huge tick. It also allows you to fill the rest of the grid out with AI when you play online with friends, so even if there's only the two of you, the grid can still be filled up. That's a big tick. The inclusion of classic versions of tracks is brilliant. Classic Spa comes with the base game, while classic Le Mans is paid DLC. The range of cars is also very good, with Group 5 vehicles a brilliant addition along with the classic Lotus F1 cars. Some great cars like classic Porsches and the Group A R32 GT-R are behind paid DLC, which is a shame. The highs are sadly let down by big deficiencies. You don't have confidence in the predictabilty of how each car will handle, whether that be braking feel, traction or turn in grip. Without that confidence, the whole point of a driving game goes out the window. AC and GT Sport are peerless in this regard. The track models in PCars2 are patchy, too. Bathurst is dreadful and does not replicate the sheer steepness and narrowness of the track. Similarly, the climb to turn 2 at the Red Bull Ring is too flat. Faults like this are disappointing. As a console user, if you can pick up PCars2 second hand on disc cheaply, it's worth a look. If you enjoy it, buy the DLC. But it's NOT worth full price in 2021. The video is absolutely right.
Loving these videos on specific sim games, it can be hard to find recent info on them outside of forums/reddit posts which sometimes only shows the issues people have and not how it stands up overall this long after release. Would love to see more on games like RFactor 2, Forza's, Gran Turismo's, etc. Even just as a video hitting them all back to back would be good.
PC2 was my 1st driving game after GT Sport on PS4. Love the increased sim-ness of it. Not played in a while as I do GT Sport for racing and ACC for driving. PC2 feels like it's somewhere in the middle. Still was worth the £22 I spent on it (£11 for disc and then another £11 for the Deluxe edition on digital download. Deluxe Edition currently showing as £70 on PS4, definitely worth waiting for the sales. Before ACC released the British DLC for PS4 I used PC2 to drive Oulton Park in preparation.
I think as a simulator on Ps4 it is still the best. as mentioned the variety of cars is great and the same for the tracks. I still play regularly mostly in free practice mode with a mix of assorted cars to simulate an uncompromising track day.
PC1 was the first game from this golden age of racing games I tried and I absolutely loved it. So, when PC2 came out I bought it on launch day and was not disappointed. It corrected most of the issues of PC1 and had way more content of the same high quality. I still play it today, even though I own many other more modern racing games. Although I enjoy PC3, I think PC2 is better and definitely worth your time if you like sim-style racing games.
Definitely worth it.. Still some great content in there. Still some shocking cars physics/ffb wise but theres is plenty that is good enough and really great immersion.
For PC users: Reiza studios got the license of Madness Engine and enhanced it, creating their new game, Automobilista 2 It's actually project cars 2.5, with improved ai, realtime weather and so on

I play with the Quest 2, and this is the most immersive game I've played. Better than ACC, everything. Although I am waiting for the F1 series to support VR.
ACC is crushingly boring - it's not called a dad sim for nothing. Its whole premise is to drive undramatically lap after lap after lap. Only the GT4s are its minor redeeming feature... and even then.
After watching this video i reinstalled Project cars 2 and i must say that most of the cars feel better than Automobilista 2 😂 For example i tried formula trainer in both titles and Project cars 2 feels 10 times better than AMS2 !
Bought it last year and currently have 890+ hours of playtime with it, yes it's good. Just get the FFB mods and bam! you're good to go. PC2 and ACC are my default games for sim-racing now (because i love GT3 cars) while AC become my favorite photography simulator now lol.
The funny thing is people talk about it not being "simmy" enough, but A. They're wrong, and B. They never explain why when PC2 simulates more and does a better job at simulating than many of the "hardcore sims" including RF2 and AC. You can fix the broken real weather system using a 3rd party app thing tied to a new weather API to feed into the game. I used it to race at Road America in the snow on Christmas, it was pretty cool. The game also changes the environment and foliage based on season. The FFB is a lot better with custom profiles. Popsracer and Christiaan are both really good and add in missing effects which make it feel a lot more natural. Good luck to console players though. Gonna have to give a hard disagree on the game not being worth it, it still has a lot of features newer games don't, and just the volume of content available across more than just a single class division give it a lot of value.
It's fun to dip into, esp with new FFB files. Great value for money when on sale, and a nice companion to also dirt cheap AC. Not a sim to be taken as seriously as others but still has better content and graphics than AMS2. Some track and car combos are plenty of fun. The LMP3/LMP900S are impressive.
Why should it not be taken seriously? It has a huge range of cars and tracks for now a knock down price, and as to seriousness, at least half of those cars drive as well as many other sims, and some better. THE Force feedback issues have been solved years ago if you can be bothered to download the many fixes. Graphically it is still miles ahead of others. The curbs are a bit of a problem but these are not a deal breaker. It's a fabulous racing sim. It gives many hours of pure pleasure and that cannot be said of rfactor and iracing which are either a pain to set up or are outrageously expensive.

Sure, PC1 wasn't great, but PC2 is way better and has way more features and smaller details than pretty much any other game. With the custom FFB files the physics actually become presented a lot more clearly and it's actually really good to the point where you can feel the difference in very small setup changes. Also, just as a super cool thing, the default setups aren't total shit, the race engineer helps newcomers make custom setups, and road cars have actual OEM setups available instead of the usual middle of the given range setup most sims have.
AMS2 has given me so much more enjoyment in the brief time I've owned it then multiple years of not playing PCars2 because it just doesn't feel like driving a car. Way too arcade like in it's physics/handling characteristics for me.
PC2 is my favourite Racing Sim on PS4 along DiRT Rally 2.0. Assetto Corsa is boring without mods and the bad graphics, AC Competizione is too limited and GT Sport is still not a true successor to GT6, it lacks cars, tracks, options and damage. I'm hyped for GT7 though... while PC3 is obviously a joke. Really recommend CarX Drift Racing Online and Wreckfest... It's Arcade but with a Sim-like touch.
PC2 is my favorite simulator, and yes I say simulator because it is a simulator. If you turn off all the assists and help tools it becomes a real experience without a doubt. The content is awesome and graphics are still at their best so I would recommend Project Cars 2 to absolutely anyone who loves racing.
Making it more "difficult" by turning off all the assists doesn't make it a sim. A sim is where the component are based on real datas, not just a bit. For me ProjectCars always been a mix between arcade and simulation.
@@SnaxDesAvions Project Cars is the only sim to use actual OEM data in car setups by default. It also has a full soft body tire carcass simulation which also takes into account grooves for wet weather driving, and as the brake rotors heat up they dissipate heat into the wheel rim which effects tire temps. Which of course is affected by how open the brake ducts are. Not to mention it's ridiculous transmission and differential simulation. What components does it not use real data for?
Ams2 is what project cars 3 should and could of been but slms were more bothered about money than making a sim as good as it could be. I still love pc 1 and 2 but if anyone reads this comment give Ams2 a go nowadays its amazing. The force feedback makes you feel so connected to the cars, especially the newer cars. I have been playing sims on PC for years and the 1st PCARS was my favourite single player sim out there - mainly due to its career. I love how you sign a contract and you race around a calendar. I switched to PS5 recently and picked PCARS 2 and it is still my favourite sim, this time on console. Great game with great content. I still love the singe player career but I also started doing some organised league multiplayer races and it is amazing
I went back to it a couple of days ago- its fun on controller but the main reason I like it is because of all the options when it comes down to tracks, cars and weather!
I have a ps4 and I play ac, acc and pc2, and pc2 is definitely the most fun, I don’t like to play it serious like I might do on acc but more like making fun of the ai or actually just drive: the immersion is great, in an indicar you feel that the car has no powered steering while in a road car you have a lot of assists, it’s a lot of fun to just drive and feel the different cars
Easily one of the most immersive games in VR in my opinion. I personally get better performance on my VR headset on PC2 compared to other sims. Yeah maybe not the best for handling characteristics and other things but I think for $20 the visuals and performance and variety it has is what does it for me. Great video Brother!
I got this for free with a subscription thing called Xbox live which gives you 3 games per month and lets you play online on Xbox. Wont even let me pair my wheel to it. Have no clue if it’s a bug or if it’s on my side
As some one who plays on controller, I enjoy the game but I find myself but I always find myself coming back to the same car and track combinations. If u don’t play on a wheel some cars are hard to drive while the AI are inconsistent (for me at least) and as u said the kerbs can be a bit hit and miss, so even tho there are a wide range of cars and tracks, some rarely get used. The multiplayer has always been a bit bland but especially now as people have moved, the majority of races where gt3 cars at monza and there was always one guy who just cut the chicanes because the rules were turned off. Overall, it’s a good sim racing game on console and the race engineer is really helpful and should be added in more racing games in one way or another, but for 60 quid it’s a bit expensive and it would be better to wait for a sale
Yeah I agree. I wish i could just set the ai at a level that I don't have to change every track or car and stay consistent. I spend more time trying to find the best difficulty than racing.
I play with controller and I finally got the controller settings to a point where it’s possible to drive good consistently. F1 2020 and project cars 2 definitely top 2 favorite racing games
bought this on christmas sale, it was like 6 usd, all you need to do is get custom ffb, reshade to increase sharpen/gamma/saturation to your taste, and select your real FOV on cockpit/helmet/chase camera and you will have loads of fun. I'm not going to pay full price for ACC to only get gt3/gt4 cars, or forza bullshit.
Honestly i came back to pc2 for this reason its got alot of good series and they are all so fun plus i dont have to be a racing god and own a wheel to be half decent like i do in acc plus at least i get to drive stuff like wec and formula 1 and stuff like a great variety and no modern game yet offers any ability to be A "factory driver" which i love it
Project Cars was my entry to simulation. As console user I only had project cars 2 for online racing for quite a while... Never liked GTS. I enjoyed AC but the online on the console universe was dead. Now we have ACC which is with no doubt an incredible detailed simulation. Even so I still use PC2 for casual racing on different circuits, and car classes. Driving the BMW 320 group 5 on the green hell is one of the best combinations. In my opinion the phisics feel ok when compared to ACC although you don't feel the weight transfer as much. And the force feedback doesn't seem to me to be as bad as everyone says, although it is indeed a steep or two below ACC. You just need to tweak a lot on the settings, as AC fell great right outside of the box. For me PC2 it's a must have for console users. Absolutely. Never even tried PC3...
I love this game myself and still play league races on it to this day, but I felt like a positive you could've mentioned is that this game is very good for people who are completely new to sim racing and want to get into it. The learning curve isn't as steep as in other games, although sweaty aliens with good setup knowledge will still have the edge of course. Some major negatives I'm surprised you didn't mention are the penalty system and the large amount of bugs the game has. The penalty system is absolutely abysmal, even penalizing you for going off track while you lost time instead of gaining time. You can also get your next lap invalidated for leaving the track in sector 2 and getting the penalty in sector 3, which is absolutely ridiculous. There are too many bugs to mention in a single comment, but this game did not receive enough developer support after its release, resulting in the game still having very obvious and easy to fix bugs like broken online lobbies and AI rolling starts crashing before you've even been given control of your vehicle. It's less buggy than the first game, but the existing bugs can still induce lots of rage lol.
The bugs are definitely the major killer. The overt twitchiness and the weird collision physics especially. That being said for a console user it's the closest thing to a sim that actually has an interesting range of cars and with that a good time can be had.
You keep talking about better and most serious racing sims. so whats the best? I have a basic rig, a Logitech G29, I love to play PC1 and PC2 seems to me like a downgrade in terms of realism, so what shoul I play next?
PC2 is a necessary game along the way, it has many different classes of cars, a well developed career mode to guide player through a believable racing career and it's as realistic as it can get for a game with this many variety of cars, it gives us the information we need to take the next step into more focused game whether it's to turn it down a notch to an arcade sim or to a more class focused game or even step up to play in more authentic simulators. In my opinion the car setup concepts in PC2 are realistic enough that I can migrate it into another driving sim without much changes, the cars may not feel like a real one, but its concept behind it is realistic and is something we can learn from.

The default car setups for 80% of cars are awful, tire geometry travels laterally a bit making it the driver to overreact.this last coment is for advanced the center pivot of turning rigth or left is wrong for all cars.making cars turning like if the diff was at the center of the vehicle.
Man I just bought a steam key for 11$ for the deluxe 90$ edition I’m pretty excited to run this in VR I’ve bought all these awesome VR ready pc dim racers with the exception of iracing I don’t like the 100+ dollar a year sub fee and r factor 2 it’s only 7$ on steam so it’s probably getting bought
The track and weather variety make this seem very enticing. I’m currently mostly an Assetto Corsa guy because I like the tweaking and experimenting, but the quality and quantity of tracks is honestly pretty sparse. The mods can be hit or miss. Project Cars seems to be a more user friendly and chill experience, sort of in line with Gran Turismo.
I bought the game for 10€ because i wanted a game to play with gamepad when i don't want to mount my simracing setup. And it very nice to relax and play some when you don't want to go tryhard. For me is worth
I prefer PC1. The physics of PC2 is a soap track until in dry roads and the first version have more detail. Only on rain PC2 have more situations. Madness engine is very good. Today use in AMS2 the same of PC2 , but better
As a firm PC2 player because im broke and cant afford anything else: fuck no, go straight for ac or acc or anything else, the game is full of bugs, you cant really push the tracks and the cars because the game is very punishing on the penalties, i genuinely went wide, gained maybe a tenth and got a 5 second penalty despite slowing down 2 seconds, so, its fun to dip into every now and again, but dont buy it if you want to do proffesional racing, if its a fun little game to play on your logitech or a game you use as a refresher on any sim, go ahead, get it, but not for daily use
this isnt coming from a pessimistic view, i league race every thursday in an indycar league, and genuinely dont have a good time 5 times out of 10, because not only is there penalty system thats broken, theres a physics change between practice/race and qualifying, theres a physics bug if your lobby goes from 12 people to below 10 that makes cars undriveable, we have constant online lobby issues, its definitely fun when it works, but alot of the time it doesnt work

@@MrWhitePerson and there are so many major issues that have been there since day one, like the physics bug where it makes the car undriveable when going from 12 players to about 10 players (which happens very often!!!)
I fired it up 2 weeks ago and really had fun. The games shows its age here and there, but generally, there is still a lot of fun driving on the vast selection of tracks.
Well it is 2024 and I still feel Project Cars 2 game is still very good plus it works in VR. It may not be the best SIM racing game, but I still bring it up and do quick races with it. The new Project Cars 3 is a joke and is only an Arcade game for kids. AI are easy to beat, graphics are washed out, and there are no pit areas to pull into on any of the tracks. If you have any GRID games, that is what Project Cars 3 is.
Today i was looking in the PS store for a racing game and found this for 10€ (normally 60 €). After reading the comments here i am excited to play! Didnt play racing games in years and this is my first 1 after a long time. 50 minutes download to go, i cant wait 😎
The biggest issue I have with this isn't what most people would think. It's not the physics. It's not the FFB. It's the SOUNDS. They are FUCKING TERRIBLE. They are the worst, in line with games like Forza and Gran Turismo. Every other major sim has superior sounds to this game. The sounds are so bad they are actually immersion-breaking. The game has a great selection of cars and tracks, it holds up very well, graphically, and it offers terrific VR support. It's also really easy to set up online multiplayer with friends. But, the sounds! Just unforgiveable, how bad they are.
for the AI behavior. i just play classic races like old Le mans or drive the 70s car ,an accident there is quuite natural and so if the AI pits you it "could" happen irl with those old beautiful death machines
Of course this is a badass game! Same as previous version. Project cars 2 counts with a huge library of dope cars. Also the FFB on this game is superb 👌 so many ways to dial the settings to please your driving needs. Overall great game! Still relevant and fun to play. 💯 recommend this game even if played on a belt driven system.
Multiplayer setup and interface is clean and has most of the options you'd want. It's still in the rotation a lot with my group of friends. It has a ton to offer compared to other sims even 4 yrs old. It's not perfect but it's better than most in a lot of ways that matter. Value for $$ for sure.
i bought pc1 near release but wasn't a sim racer. but i wanted to get into it, just never did recently got a rig and now sims are all i play. finally tried pc1 and it's soooo fucking good, even in 2024. so i want pc2 but, how do you even get it? do i have to settle for a playstation version? or sketchy sites that sell pc keys? it's a travesty this was taken off the steam page. i have zero interest in pc3 as i've heard it's more arcadey
got project cars 3 on sale and I can't stand it!! don't get these developers. why change what works. cars now drift, has stupid red crash effect in cockpit view, cars seems to be floating in 3rd person view, can't customize camera view like pc2. wasted $15 on it, I guess it was like I went to movies and it sucked. hope PC 2 goes on sale, I have it from games with gold, but cant play because I ended xbox live, stupid.
I got this for free on Xbox gold and jump in and out of it, we play cross platform on NFS and compared to PC2 it's actually just graphically a major let down, I played some Horizon 5 and yes it looks amazing but it's not what I'm looking for.
I think it's the best sim racing you can get on console, motorsport is a joke, assetto is good but lacks content and quality, pc3 is another joke, pc2 has variety, good graphics, good physics, good tracks, good sounds.
I've been playing Assetto Corsa lately coming from PC2. They both have VR but i think Assetto car physics might be better + the car customization rocks.

The physics of the game is quite different on consoles. The computer is better I don't know why.
On console, GT Sport kicks PCars2 to the curb. Everything is just so polished on it.
But PCars2 has absolute flexibility in picking any car, any track, and time (day or night) and any weather. That's a huge tick. It also allows you to fill the rest of the grid out with AI when you play online with friends, so even if there's only the two of you, the grid can still be filled up. That's a big tick.
The inclusion of classic versions of tracks is brilliant. Classic Spa comes with the base game, while classic Le Mans is paid DLC.
The range of cars is also very good, with Group 5 vehicles a brilliant addition along with the classic Lotus F1 cars. Some great cars like classic Porsches and the Group A R32 GT-R are behind paid DLC, which is a shame.
The highs are sadly let down by big deficiencies. You don't have confidence in the predictabilty of how each car will handle, whether that be braking feel, traction or turn in grip. Without that confidence, the whole point of a driving game goes out the window. AC and GT Sport are peerless in this regard.
The track models in PCars2 are patchy, too. Bathurst is dreadful and does not replicate the sheer steepness and narrowness of the track. Similarly, the climb to turn 2 at the Red Bull Ring is too flat. Faults like this are disappointing.
As a console user, if you can pick up PCars2 second hand on disc cheaply, it's worth a look. If you enjoy it, buy the DLC. But it's NOT worth full price in 2021. The video is absolutely right.

Loving these videos on specific sim games, it can be hard to find recent info on them outside of forums/reddit posts which sometimes only shows the issues people have and not how it stands up overall this long after release. Would love to see more on games like RFactor 2, Forza's, Gran Turismo's, etc. Even just as a video hitting them all back to back would be good.
PC2 was my 1st driving game after GT Sport on PS4. Love the increased sim-ness of it.
Not played in a while as I do GT Sport for racing and ACC for driving.
PC2 feels like it's somewhere in the middle.
Still was worth the £22 I spent on it (£11 for disc and then another £11 for the Deluxe edition on digital download.
Deluxe Edition currently showing as £70 on PS4, definitely worth waiting for the sales.
Before ACC released the British DLC for PS4 I used PC2 to drive Oulton Park in preparation.

I think as a simulator on Ps4 it is still the best. as mentioned the variety of cars is great and the same for the tracks. I still play regularly mostly in free practice mode with a mix of assorted cars to simulate an uncompromising track day.
PC1 was the first game from this golden age of racing games I tried and I absolutely loved it. So, when PC2 came out I bought it on launch day and was not disappointed. It corrected most of the issues of PC1 and had way more content of the same high quality. I still play it today, even though I own many other more modern racing games. Although I enjoy PC3, I think PC2 is better and definitely worth your time if you like sim-style racing games.

PC1 was amazing especially because you felt like you actually going fast, I don't know how they did it but in the go kart racing it was just immense.
To be honest, I find PC2 has the best clutch feel. You actually get good feedback when you rev match.
Definitely worth it.. Still some great content in there. Still some shocking cars physics/ffb wise but theres is plenty that is good enough and really great immersion.

I play with the Quest 2, and this is the most immersive game I've played. Better than ACC, everything. Although I am waiting for the F1 series to support VR.
ACC is crushingly boring - it's not called a dad sim for nothing. Its whole premise is to drive undramatically lap after lap after lap. Only the GT4s are its minor redeeming feature... and even then.

Try automobilista 2, in VR it blows project cars 2 out of the water and you are able to get skins for nearly every generation of formula one cars.
After watching this video i reinstalled Project cars 2 and i must say that most of the cars feel better than Automobilista 2 😂 For example i tried formula trainer in both titles and Project cars 2 feels 10 times better than AMS2 !
Bought it last year and currently have 890+ hours of playtime with it, yes it's good. Just get the FFB mods and bam! you're good to go.
PC2 and ACC are my default games for sim-racing now (because i love GT3 cars) while AC become my favorite photography simulator now lol.
The funny thing is people talk about it not being "simmy" enough, but A. They're wrong, and B. They never explain why when PC2 simulates more and does a better job at simulating than many of the "hardcore sims" including RF2 and AC.
You can fix the broken real weather system using a 3rd party app thing tied to a new weather API to feed into the game. I used it to race at Road America in the snow on Christmas, it was pretty cool. The game also changes the environment and foliage based on season.
The FFB is a lot better with custom profiles. Popsracer and Christiaan are both really good and add in missing effects which make it feel a lot more natural. Good luck to console players though.
Gonna have to give a hard disagree on the game not being worth it, it still has a lot of features newer games don't, and just the volume of content available across more than just a single class division give it a lot of value.

Project Cars 2 is what I wanted GT Sport and GT 7 to be. Actual offline single player sim racing content.
It's fun to dip into, esp with new FFB files. Great value for money when on sale, and a nice companion to also dirt cheap AC. Not a sim to be taken as seriously as others but still has better content and graphics than AMS2. Some track and car combos are plenty of fun. The LMP3/LMP900S are impressive.

Why should it not be taken seriously? It has a huge range of cars and tracks for now a knock down price, and as to seriousness, at least half of those cars drive as well as many other sims, and some better. THE Force feedback issues have been solved years ago if you can be bothered to download the many fixes. Graphically it is still miles ahead of others. The curbs are a bit of a problem but these are not a deal breaker. It's a fabulous racing sim. It gives many hours of pure pleasure and that cannot be said of rfactor and iracing which are either a pain to set up or are outrageously expensive.
The best part imo is vr, it's vr ui is as good as dirt rally 2. I try to play asseto corsa vr but the ui makes me want to die and so I run back to pc2
@@fingerhorn4 Everyone always says it's not "simmy" enough, but never has an actual reason. Sure, PC1 wasn't great, but PC2 is way better and has way more features and smaller details than pretty much any other game. With the custom FFB files the physics actually become presented a lot more clearly and it's actually really good to the point where you can feel the difference in very small setup changes.
Also, just as a super cool thing, the default setups aren't total shit, the race engineer helps newcomers make custom setups, and road cars have actual OEM setups available instead of the usual middle of the given range setup most sims have.
AMS2 has given me so much more enjoyment in the brief time I've owned it then multiple years of not playing PCars2 because it just doesn't feel like driving a car. Way too arcade like in it's physics/handling characteristics for me.
PC2 is my favourite Racing Sim on PS4 along DiRT Rally 2.0. Assetto Corsa is boring without mods and the bad graphics, AC Competizione is too limited and GT Sport is still not a true successor to GT6, it lacks cars, tracks, options and damage. I'm hyped for GT7 though... while PC3 is obviously a joke.
Really recommend CarX Drift Racing Online and Wreckfest... It's Arcade but with a Sim-like touch.
Just gave it to my friend as present as a xbox key. He bought a wheel and a playseat so i was like lets do this game and F1 you wil enjoy it
PC2 is my favorite simulator, and yes I say simulator because it is a simulator. If you turn off all the assists and help tools it becomes a real experience without a doubt. The content is awesome and graphics are still at their best so I would recommend Project Cars 2 to absolutely anyone who loves racing.
Making it more "difficult" by turning off all the assists doesn't make it a sim.
A sim is where the component are based on real datas, not just a bit.
For me ProjectCars always been a mix between arcade and simulation.
@@SnaxDesAvions Project Cars is the only sim to use actual OEM data in car setups by default. It also has a full soft body tire carcass simulation which also takes into account grooves for wet weather driving, and as the brake rotors heat up they dissipate heat into the wheel rim which effects tire temps. Which of course is affected by how open the brake ducts are. Not to mention it's ridiculous transmission and differential simulation.
What components does it not use real data for?

Ams2 is what project cars 3 should and could of been but slms were more bothered about money than making a sim as good as it could be. I still love pc 1 and 2 but if anyone reads this comment give Ams2 a go nowadays its amazing. The force feedback makes you feel so connected to the cars, especially the newer cars. I have been playing sims on PC for years and the 1st PCARS was my favourite single player sim out there - mainly due to its career. I love how you sign a contract and you race around a calendar. I switched to PS5 recently and picked PCARS 2 and it is still my favourite sim, this time on console. Great game with great content. I still love the singe player career but I also started doing some organised league multiplayer races and it is amazing

I have a ps4 and I play ac, acc and pc2, and pc2 is definitely the most fun, I don’t like to play it serious like I might do on acc but more like making fun of the ai or actually just drive: the immersion is great, in an indicar you feel that the car has no powered steering while in a road car you have a lot of assists, it’s a lot of fun to just drive and feel the different cars
Easily one of the most immersive games in VR in my opinion. I personally get better performance on my VR headset on PC2 compared to other sims. Yeah maybe not the best for handling characteristics and other things but I think for $20 the visuals and performance and variety it has is what does it for me. Great video Brother!

I got this for free with a subscription thing called Xbox live which gives you 3 games per month and lets you play online on Xbox. Wont even let me pair my wheel to it. Have no clue if it’s a bug or if it’s on my side
It's helped me with my real life racing but it's given me a phobia of curbs and rumble strips
As some one who plays on controller, I enjoy the game but I find myself but I always find myself coming back to the same car and track combinations. If u don’t play on a wheel some cars are hard to drive while the AI are inconsistent (for me at least) and as u said the kerbs can be a bit hit and miss, so even tho there are a wide range of cars and tracks, some rarely get used. The multiplayer has always been a bit bland but especially now as people have moved, the majority of races where gt3 cars at monza and there was always one guy who just cut the chicanes because the rules were turned off. Overall, it’s a good sim racing game on console and the race engineer is really helpful and should be added in more racing games in one way or another, but for 60 quid it’s a bit expensive and it would be better to wait for a sale

Yeah I agree. I wish i could just set the ai at a level that I don't have to change every track or car and stay consistent. I spend more time trying to find the best difficulty than racing.

I play with controller and I finally got the controller settings to a point where it’s possible to drive good consistently. F1 2020 and project cars 2 definitely top 2 favorite racing games
bought this on christmas sale, it was like 6 usd, all you need to do is get custom ffb, reshade to increase sharpen/gamma/saturation to your taste, and select your real FOV on cockpit/helmet/chase camera and you will have loads of fun.
I'm not going to pay full price for ACC to only get gt3/gt4 cars, or forza bullshit.
Honestly i came back to pc2 for this reason its got alot of good series and they are all so fun plus i dont have to be a racing god and own a wheel to be half decent like i do in acc plus at least i get to drive stuff like wec and formula 1 and stuff like a great variety and no modern game yet offers any ability to be A "factory driver" which i love it
Project Cars was my entry to simulation. As console user I only had project cars 2 for online racing for quite a while... Never liked GTS.
I enjoyed AC but the online on the console universe was dead. Now we have ACC which is with no doubt an incredible detailed simulation.
Even so I still use PC2 for casual racing on different circuits, and car classes.
Driving the BMW 320 group 5 on the green hell is one of the best combinations.
In my opinion the phisics feel ok when compared to ACC although you don't feel the weight transfer as much. And the force feedback doesn't seem to me to be as bad as everyone says, although it is indeed a steep or two below ACC. You just need to tweak a lot on the settings, as AC fell great right outside of the box.
For me PC2 it's a must have for console users. Absolutely.

I love this game myself and still play league races on it to this day, but I felt like a positive you could've mentioned is that this game is very good for people who are completely new to sim racing and want to get into it. The learning curve isn't as steep as in other games, although sweaty aliens with good setup knowledge will still have the edge of course. Some major negatives I'm surprised you didn't mention are the penalty system and the large amount of bugs the game has. The penalty system is absolutely abysmal, even penalizing you for going off track while you lost time instead of gaining time. You can also get your next lap invalidated for leaving the track in sector 2 and getting the penalty in sector 3, which is absolutely ridiculous. There are too many bugs to mention in a single comment, but this game did not receive enough developer support after its release, resulting in the game still having very obvious and easy to fix bugs like broken online lobbies and AI rolling starts crashing before you've even been given control of your vehicle. It's less buggy than the first game, but the existing bugs can still induce lots of rage lol.
The bugs are definitely the major killer. The overt twitchiness and the weird collision physics especially.
That being said for a console user it's the closest thing to a sim that actually has an interesting range of cars and with that a good time can be had.

Assetto corsa or Assetto corsa Competizione would be a good jump!
I got it gifted and its very fun but not multiplayer because of the low ammount of servers and players
PC2 is a necessary game along the way, it has many different classes of cars, a well developed career mode to guide player through a believable racing career and it's as realistic as it can get for a game with this many variety of cars, it gives us the information we need to take the next step into more focused game whether it's to turn it down a notch to an arcade sim or to a more class focused game or even step up to play in more authentic simulators. In my opinion the car setup concepts in PC2 are realistic enough that I can migrate it into another driving sim without much changes, the cars may not feel like a real one, but its concept behind it is realistic and is something we can learn from.

Group C cars at Daytona race course is a great combo I would recommend.
Does PC2 have customization for every car ? Or its just comes up in another version like road, circuit and rally car ? Still searching for racing games with shift2 feature because shift2 is outdated in terms of car

The default car setups for 80% of cars are awful, tire geometry travels laterally a bit making it the driver to overreact.this last coment is for advanced the center pivot of turning rigth or left is wrong for all cars.making cars turning like if the diff was at the center of the vehicle.

Man I just bought a steam key for 11$ for the deluxe 90$ edition I’m pretty excited to run this in VR I’ve bought all these awesome VR ready pc dim racers with the exception of iracing I don’t like the 100+ dollar a year sub fee and r factor 2 it’s only 7$ on steam so it’s probably getting bought
Someone should update project cars 2, like PURE and Peter Boese, something like that. It would be awesome, like we have in AC today.
The track and weather variety make this seem very enticing. I’m currently mostly an Assetto Corsa guy because I like the tweaking and experimenting, but the quality and quantity of tracks is honestly pretty sparse. The mods can be hit or miss. Project Cars seems to be a more user friendly and chill experience, sort of in line with Gran Turismo.
Its 2022 and last couple months it went from 8 servers average i see to 16 average i see online at the same time. More players are returning
I bought the game for 10€ because i wanted a game to play with gamepad when i don't want to mount my simracing setup. And it very nice to relax and play some when you don't want to go tryhard. For me is worth

I prefer PC1. The physics of PC2 is a soap track until in dry roads and the first version have more detail. Only on rain PC2 have more situations.

In Project Cars you fight the horrible tyre physics, not the other cars.

As a firm PC2 player because im broke and cant afford anything else: fuck no, go straight for ac or acc or anything else, the game is full of bugs, you cant really push the tracks and the cars because the game is very punishing on the penalties, i genuinely went wide, gained maybe a tenth and got a 5 second penalty despite slowing down 2 seconds, so, its fun to dip into every now and again, but dont buy it if you want to do proffesional racing, if its a fun little game to play on your logitech or a game you use as a refresher on any sim, go ahead, get it, but not for daily use
this isnt coming from a pessimistic view, i league race every thursday in an indycar league, and genuinely dont have a good time 5 times out of 10, because not only is there penalty system thats broken, theres a physics change between practice/race and qualifying, theres a physics bug if your lobby goes from 12 people to below 10 that makes cars undriveable, we have constant online lobby issues, its definitely fun when it works, but alot of the time it doesnt work

@@MrWhitePerson and there are so many major issues that have been there since day one, like the physics bug where it makes the car undriveable when going from 12 players to about 10 players (which happens very often!!!)
I fired it up 2 weeks ago and really had fun. The games shows its age here and there, but generally, there is still a lot of fun driving on the vast selection of tracks.
Well it is 2024 and I still feel Project Cars 2 game is still very good plus it works in VR. It may not be the best SIM racing game, but I still bring it up and do quick races with it.
The new Project Cars 3 is a joke and is only an Arcade game for kids. AI are easy to beat, graphics are washed out, and there are no pit areas to pull into on any of the tracks. If you have any GRID games, that is what Project Cars 3 is.
Today i was looking in the PS store for a racing game and found this for 10€ (normally 60 €). After reading the comments here i am excited to play! Didnt play racing games in years and this is my first 1 after a long time. 50 minutes download to go, i cant wait 😎

The biggest issue I have with this isn't what most people would think. It's not the physics. It's not the FFB. It's the SOUNDS. They are FUCKING TERRIBLE. They are the worst, in line with games like Forza and Gran Turismo. Every other major sim has superior sounds to this game. The sounds are so bad they are actually immersion-breaking. The game has a great selection of cars and tracks, it holds up very well, graphically, and it offers terrific VR support. It's also really easy to set up online multiplayer with friends. But, the sounds! Just unforgiveable, how bad they are.
for the AI behavior. i just play classic races like old Le mans or drive the 70s car ,an accident there is quuite natural and so if the AI pits you it "could" happen irl with those old beautiful death machines
Of course this is a badass game! Same as previous version. Project cars 2 counts with a huge library of dope cars. Also the FFB on this game is superb 👌 so many ways to dial the settings to please your driving needs. Overall great game! Still relevant and fun to play. 💯 recommend this game even if played on a belt driven system.

Multiplayer setup and interface is clean and has most of the options you'd want. It's still in the rotation a lot with my group of friends. It has a ton to offer compared to other sims even 4 yrs old. It's not perfect but it's better than most in a lot of ways that matter. Value for $$ for sure.

recently got a rig and now sims are all i play. finally tried pc1 and it's soooo fucking good, even in 2024. so i want pc2 but, how do you even get it? do i have to settle for a playstation version? or sketchy sites that sell pc keys?

I got this for free on Xbox gold and jump in and out of it, we play cross platform on NFS and compared to PC2 it's actually just graphically a major let down, I played some Horizon 5 and yes it looks amazing but it's not what I'm looking for.

The GTE cars feel so good
I think it's the best sim racing you can get on console, motorsport is a joke, assetto is good but lacks content and quality, pc3 is another joke, pc2 has variety, good graphics, good physics, good tracks, good sounds.
I've been playing Assetto Corsa lately coming from PC2. They both have VR but i think Assetto car physics might be better + the car customization rocks.
