True. Project CARS 2 even is as amazing as GRAN TURISMO 4 to 7! Ayumu Uehara and Shioriko Mifune surprisingly, loved Project Cars 2 due to its infinite replay value on Custom Race mode.
I mean I love project cars 2 (>300 hours) but... that statement is a big push. One thing that they surely did right was to make sim racing possible for console users. The original Assetto Corsa never quite did it. It has too limited in content. ACC is beautiful right now...but you just stick to GT racing. Anyway just of my online hours in Project cars where on GT3 servers.
I play AMS2 and it has nice eye candy but on my end some of the cars are so slow and sluggish. with their new GT series?! And what happened to AMS2's sound or volume , audio?! I don't play any more mods on AMS2 since those orange cone pit crew. I sick of having to reinstall mods with content manager from time to time as it appears it is not welcome by Reiza? I seem to have drifted back to a more ligit produced product meaning , for me, I'd rather play a car that was produced by the sim makers as that for me works best if the makers make a good product. Sometimes AMS2 is super slow, sluggish. In PC2 the GT's are older yes, but loud and I can drift and their fast! But I like AMS2 , mostly their new and older F1 rides and those older Indy rides. They did beef up their tire model so it grips nicer. So what the heck I guess. I play both. I also enjoy my TrackIRv5
I still play project cars 2 to this day. The track selection is amazing. Car selection is amazing. Setting up races and multi class races is super easy. The graphics paired with a vr is hands down the best immersive sim experience ever.
Same I’m playing it right now it’s such a good game I only wish it had a few more road cars and modern cars but this game is amazing especially for its time
Appreciate the shoutout to Driveclub, still genuinely one of my favourite racing games. Each of the tracks/countries were so unique, and the environment and weather effects are still among the best of any racing title. I just regret Evolution Studios never made a next generation Motorstorm with Mudrunner physics.
I remember one day after feeling inspired after watching the Indy 500, I thought I’d do my own Indy 500 in PC2. It was going great all until sometime between laps 180-190 when on the last corner of the lap two Ai cars had such a severe crash I simply couldn’t avoid it. I somehow ended up on my roof and I couldn’t figure out a way to effectively wright the car without having to restart the race. My race ended there. I was so frustrated😂
Something nobody ever talks about is that project cars 2 has the best sense of speed and camera angles of any game I've played. That helmet cams lean when you come to a turn, the hood cams seem like you're going really fast, it's just great to have a variety. And the fact that you have a cockpit view that views the passenger seat as well is insane to me
Very nice in depth video! Project CARS 1 & 2 are underrated in my opinion, I started a career mode series on this game in 2018 and I’m still in the process of completing all the championships, I’ve also done GT3 league racing and endurance racing including 2 24 hour races at the Nurburgring online with a friend and a Le Mans 24H in endurance in career mode, the immersion and the handling & ffb is very nice imo and I love the original Project CARS as well :)
To this day I still thank pc2 for really getting me into sim racing. I was always a Gran Turismo dude back then with a controller. For pc2 I got my first setup (g29). I have all the major Sim titles and I play them all, assetto corsa being the main one due to mods ofc but I've always said, if it wasn't for project cars, I wouldn't be able to know how to drive in any of the other titles. Just for talking about it...I got to go revisit that game.
it is not a game from the same franchise, but it uses the same engine as project cars, and the company has one of the games that is considered one of the most realistic. for those who want to forget Project cars 3, you can search for automobilista 2
Kudos, it was an amazing effort to present the short comings of PC franchise. I do want to mention that, you forgot the chance to mention Automobilista 2, which revived Project Cars using the same Madness Engine. AMS2 did exactly what PC wasn't able to.
Cool video, wish you would mentioned GTR2 and Shift2 a bit more and did a comparison since they are the base which Project Cars was built off of. There are features in all 3 that didnt carry over to each one. Shift even has models carried over from GTR2 and Project Cars has models carried over from Shift 2 lol. They all have a similar feelings too since its the same developers. Idk if you are referring mainly to the console version of the game but on PC, PC2 was perfectly playable on a controller. Idk if they patched it at some point but Im playing through the career again and it handles fine on a controller even in 2024. Its funny that part 2 is always the better version of their games lol. GTR2, Shift2 and PC2. PC3 gets a bad reputation solely on the name, its actually a really good game and it feels pretty much like PC2 once you turn off the assists. The structure of the game was what was different and the sim crowd was just not happy about that, even though it was still a good game. It was indeed more of a GRID type of game but thats not a bad thing. All the negativity could have been avoided had they simply named the game something else. Much like the NFS players hated NFS Shift because it had NFS in the title and it wasnt truly a NFS arcade game. They wisely dropped the NFS label for Shift 2, but it should have just been Shift the whole time. With that experience you think they would know to name PC3 something else but some people never learn. I always played the Project Cars games more like an arcade-sim style of game because they allow you to do so, thats why I didnt mind PC3 being closer to Shift2. I prefer that kind of career anyways where you buy and build your cars like PC3/ Shift vs the GRID/Toca/PC style where the cars and events are preselected for you. I can enjoy both but some people just cant enjoy anything it seems lol.
I would say that GRID Legends is the modern spiritual successor to the NFS Shift series. Great physics, Great content, and really challenging AI. Sadly, the game got timing'd and didn't sell too well.
PC2 is what made me upgrade from the basic Xbox One to the OneX. Though I've moved on to ACC, PC2 will always hold a spot in my heart, for the variety in tracks, cars, and disciplines.
Here again in January 2024, after the announcement of LoveLive Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Season 4 Trilogy Movies: THE FINAL CHAPTER. PROJECT CARS 2, Seven years after its release, still is very impressive! Even as amazing as Assetto Corsa Competizione!
Still use PC 1,2 and if you ever, PC3 for practice for other platforms. I have a lot of love for the first 2, not so much for no 3, but hey. What a Trio of Fun they are and in my humble opinion, still way ahead of many modern sims. Cheers man 👍🏁🇬🇧❤
Ian Bell said on an interview about his upcoming game that he wanted pc 3 to have a different name to distinguish it from pc 1+2. He would have called it project cars sideways. Like forza is doing with horizon. Imagine if they release the next horizon as forza Motorsport. The outrage would be similar
PC2 was a great bang for buck, lots of tracks and car categories to choose from, the weather, oh the weather, it's spiritual successor has been Automobilista 2, they took the Madness Engine and polished it's features to shining mirror, both physics and weather, they update the game regularly and at each update you can feel the difference, it's not available to consoles though, it would be great to have a sim title with crossplay, but all we have is arcades like Grid Legends and The Crew Motorfest (both great games though)
Nfs Shift was a really fun and entertaining game, in some places bit crazy, but still based in believable setting, it had a pro street feel to it. Shift 2 was somewhat an improvement, the tittle screen presented the game as more serious, with toned down festival vibe of pro street and more of an official racing leauge, which it didn't feel like, the side challenges were boring and some even unable to complete, the overall carrer felt stretched up, and the first person camera was also less shaky, it no longer felt as dangerous when driving over 200km/h. as in first game. PC2 it takes itself more serious it does feel like a proper sim, with actual option to use pit stop (unlike in shift series where there was just a barrier), change your assists in go, more variety in car selection, it adds up to a really good, and average consumer friendly sim racer. The progression is more streamlined, completing a championship is really self rewarding, the e-mail system also adds a bit of depth into the racing. Another thing worth mentioning are mods, they feel like proper dlc's with new and returning cars, all of them are high quality and bring even more variety to the game, I myself found endurance racing the most fun, with 2019 porsche 911 gt3 R
Automobilista 2 uses the same game engine and is what Project cars 3 should have been. BUT a name is just a name. You will find Project cars 3 when you play Automobilista 2!
GTR: Revival, rumors say it's aimed for a release at 2024 holiday period, this will be the sim racing I need for 5 years to come, ACC and AMS2 feel plain, PCARS2's experience is second to none, the other titles are looking for a piece of the action in sim racing tournaments, like iRacing, ACC or that new comer Rennsport, they are about a business model, but Slightly Mad Studio aims for a realistic racing experience for the people, the whole package not just the handling, yes being taken apart by EA during PCARS 4 development was sad, but they've gotten back up and GTR: Revival could be the real Project CARS 3.
Iam not a hardcore simracer but I was looking for a modern alternative to my beloved GTR2. Assettos mod community is great but I just couldnt get warm with the stiff driving physics. So I got Project Cars2 and iam happy with it so far. Its a good balance between sim and arcade and can even be played on a latop with keyboard when I travel for work ( shameful I know). Yes Automobilista2 is better in some apsects but I like Project Cars2´s content a bit more and I like having a little structured career mode that throws me into races at a button push after work...
0:32 I don’t know what kind of set up this is, but I don’t think any race car is going to be doing all of that type of motion on a race track. This looks like it should be a flight simular, as one is experiencing turbulence 😂
Initially, rFactor was the game that made me interested in sim racing. But Project CARS 2 made me even interested. Shame that a masterpiece like this game had to be wasted by EA, which is literally the Hitler of gaming. When I got the news that the Project CARS franchise would stop, it felt like a massive punch in the stomach. Especially when I remember that Project CARS 2 was my first sim racing game that I played on an actual sim racing setup. I know this sounds crazy but when PC3 was launched, I felt like I was targeted by simply hoping that PC3 would be better. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who thought so. But will it change that Project CARS has done what another company would do to bring sim racing to consoles? I think it never will. Project CARS might be a dead franchise but its glimpse of fairness of bringing sim racing to consoles will never die.
Absolutely, that’s even more true now that we have Automobilista 2 to carry on the Project CARS legacy, since it uses that same engine. I just forgot to mention it in the video.
I prefer PCars1 because of more interesting AI and way more consistent car setups. I think PCars2 physics engine was too complex to be balanced properly on wide range of vehicles. Also there are clearly break points (limits) to the math of it. Judging by ongoing struggle of AMS2 some stuff is just impossible to do using this engine. Like karts for example. Other stuff needs years of balancing. But when it works it is brilliant!
I am a NEWB. I learned about PC2 after it was pulled. I searched for a PC version outside of Steam and to my surprise ignorance, I found PC2 Delux Steam Key?! So I bought it along with a Japanese addition and I have it on Steam. I play it in 4K. Even though it's been left behind I have KAOS's IR-18 Indy Mod on it. I usually run GT races. I actually found some activity on it's servers and Qualified 2nd out of 3 online drivers for the long Nurburgring! I've got nothing but great things to say about PC2! Sim community states it's arcade like or outdated?! I say Bullshit. The car quality and action is better than AMS2 in my opinion. iracing has good stuff and I'll comparer PC2 with it as well in many ways. I think what we use for our gear makes a difference too. I'm running a GT-DD pro with VRS Pedals and a Club Sport V 2.5 rim. I'm looking to upgrade to a Simucube 2 Pro here pretty quick. I want to run a Simucube 2 cause it runs two power supplies "Mean Well" power units at 48 volts a pop at 280 watts! So running both is approx 560 watts! That's probably why the Simucube does so well with it's filtering. WA killed this game cause it's about technology, marketing and making money compared to a smaller population that has a passion for racing. PC3 is proof of this. If they sell enough of a product they don't care considering their overhead. It is written that Assetto Corsa is the most played sim around. The beloved Mod community" & AMS2? AMS2 has nice eye candy but it's GT cars are sluggish and something happened to AMS2's audio?! I think the Mod community ought to grab a hold of PC2 if possible. For me, PC2 is one of my main sims. That and ACC , I like the new F1 older vintage 70's Senna cars they just released. But I love PC2's vintage Lotus 60's F1 and their vintage Le Mans!! I'm personally buying a more vintage wheel and stick shift just for those in PC2! I've recently purchased the VRS clutch pedal to add to my Gas n break for those cars. In the later years here licensing fees , corporate marketing and larger sales dictate the finish line on a product so that's where it gets ugly for our passion. Hopefully Assetto Corsa EVO has not fallen as well.
@@labpong7562 I found it on one of those key sites where I bought my PC2 Steam key. I can't remember so just search and see if you can find it. Sorry, I can't remember which site it was.
Happy owner of the three as well...plus dirt 2.0 obviously! Let's see if EA will fuck up the upcoming title. Hope not. Always wanted to have the WRC licence with Dirt Rally engine
@@84Justino good to know! I have all the dirt series except dirt 5 & i'm following EA's WRC as well. I don't want to pre order it until i see the actual gameplay and some reviews before purchasing it
After playing GT7 i just had to re-download PC2 and remind myself how much better this game is even with the wacky FFB once dialed in a bit.. u just can beat the fact you can experience any and weather any season .. also redownloaded assetto corsa on ps5 and to my suprise the soun in that game OH MY GODDD moder games like Gt7 and FM have nothing on these
Like shooters, more realistic titles tend to not do so well and get canned or expanded too wide to be a sim anymore. Idk why this is. And rarely hits a good mix of arcade and sim.
sure would be nice to actually have full control over the car when you're driving and not have all this annoying computer assisted crutches that take all the fun out of driving. Anyone that likes driving likes it because they feel that they have control over the machine. If you don't like having control over the car then maybe a Train simulator would be better for you. Controllers have analog sticks as well as triggers. These analog controls are designed for racing games in particularly the triggers which work for throttle and braking. They are analog and can regulate the pressure applied for your brakes and throttle. Trials Rising the game created by Ubisoft Masterfully makes use of the controller and its analog abilities. You can perform nose wheelies on the front tire by applying brake pressure accurately if you have the skill or you can wheelie on the rear tire. In trials rising there's no computer assisted crutches for less skilled players to cheat their way through the game and making the game super Boring. Being a purely Skill based game Trials Rising is one the best games ever made. It would be nice if these driving game software companies could take note. Maybe make a game that gets played for a decade instead of slapped together hype train fad game thats hot for a week or two and then is completely forgotten about like fast food software.

True. Project CARS 2 even is as amazing as GRAN TURISMO 4 to 7! Ayumu Uehara and Shioriko Mifune surprisingly, loved Project Cars 2 due to its infinite replay value on Custom Race mode.

Project cars 2 lives on in Automobilista 2 since 2021. They are using the madness engine so if you want a modern project cars game thats the game.

The lobbies used to be so populated, everyone’s moved onto Automobilista 2 on PC which runs on this game’s engine.
Lanzhu Zhong, Yuu Takasaki and Rin Hoshizora (diehard racing game fan) also liked Project CARS 2 despite the AI is quite inconsistent at times.
@FadedMxstery until AMS2 has a equal or better career mode, I'll keep playing PC2
Stillmplaying this game on PS4 and hands down the best motorsport game ive played. Lobbies are thin these days but still a hardcore bunch around
I still love this on my PS5 for it's track selection alone 💟
True. Same goes to the 208-car list in PC2 despite it still only 45 percent of the cars list from GRAN TURISMO 7 (GT7 has 525 cars in total).
Something nobody ever talks about is that project cars 2 has the best sense of speed and camera angles of any game I've played. Yeah, SMS did the same in the NFS: Drift games. It does give you both a sense of speed and increase the immersion in my opinion.

Project CARS 2 should've added Dragon Trail and Tokyo Expressway from GT7.
Toca3 best track and car list ever. Only Pcars2 has ever come close.

Project CARS 3 reminded me a lot to Forza Motorsport 8. Completely broken on almost every single gameplay standpoint.

Where did you buy the Japanese car pack? It's the only dlc I don't have.
@@labpong7562 I found it on one of those key sites where I bought my PC2 Steam key. I can't remember so just search and see if you can find it. Sorry, I can't remember which site it was.
Awesome video, trying to buy the game and can't find it ..
It’s been delisted due to licensing for the cars and tracks. The only way to get it is find a physical copy or pirate it.
I have Project Cars & Project Cars 2 on PS4 & i'm playing on PS5! After i saw the reviews and gameplay of Project Cars 3 i didn't purchased it
Try assetto competizione or gt7
@@denykristanto46 Thanks for the suggestions i have them both as well! ACC & GT7
I don't want to pre order it until i see the actual gameplay and some reviews before purchasing it
Does online still work?
@@bodycountplays2915 the game was delisted in stores so my guess is no
After playing GT7 i just had to re-download PC2 and remind myself how much better this game is even with the wacky FFB once dialed in a bit.. u just can beat the fact you can experience any and weather any season .. also redownloaded assetto corsa on ps5 and to my suprise the soun in that game OH MY GODDD moder games like Gt7 and FM have nothing on these
Like shooters, more realistic titles tend to not do so well and get canned or expanded too wide to be a sim anymore. Idk why this is. And rarely hits a good mix of arcade and sim.
❤ IT'S THE BEST ❤
Great presentation!
It's still better than Project Cars 3
If only it worked with a wheel on pc
It works with my G29. :-)
100th LIKE!!!!!
EA...is where car games go to die!!!
can't even play it even if i want to buy it :(
Easily some of your best work!
Wow, thanks!
I can speculate that what held the Project Cars franchise back was only the name which is not sexy.
This is a sim?? Being serious.
It’s closer to assetto corsa than it is to iRacing
sure would be nice to actually have full control over the car when you're driving and not have all this annoying computer assisted crutches that take all the fun out of driving.
