- ■ HANOI, VIETNAM: After having the conversations from the $2 shave video translated by you guys I realized that the awesome woman who was selling those postcards was even more awesome than I'd initially thought. She thus warranted a Harald Investigates! The only problem was she wasn't selling the postcards at the same location next to the barber. Dismayed I decided to cross the road for some of Hanoi's finest Noodles known as Fo (probably not the proper spelling), as I didn't want to have travelled across town for nothing.
As soon as I'd crossed, I heard a familiar voice say Hello....

Hello Phuc Baldr. Another amazing video. I was in Vietnam (Saigon) about 15 years ago and I considered an "education", not a "vacation". Learned a great deal about the people in Vietnam and it's a constant struggle for them to survive. Life is not easy there. It's honorable to see that you support (financially) only hard-working and honest people only. Keep up the good work.
He understands which ones are basically honest and treats them well. The phony ones do not get the large tips. :)

I want to say thank you for the video. I love the quality and lots of fun to watch
Vietnamese people really love their camo! I counted about 7 people wearing full camouflage in this video.
We have quite many reasons for that. Some make sense and some are not:
1. Military surplus are quite a lots. Its cheap, reliable and easy to buy. In 20 years most of family have at least one man serve in military or police due to conscription. They pass their uniform and equipments to their family when they finish.
2. Some one serve in hospitality industry or want to look more "Western" or have radical thinking. They think camouflage clothes is quite "cool" and "sporty" and "Western".
3. Militarism mindset. Long time in war and Vietnam in that time is still poor country. For most of people military clothes is the most quality clothes they have. And even now they still think those are the best.

So cool to see Norwegian with a questionable hairdo roaming around Viet Nam, being in good humor, un-self-conscious (if there is such a word), curious, friendly and kind. Thumb up from me for the excellent attitude. At 22:29, Harald asked "What's the name of this place?", and proceeded to read a sign that says "Chu Y Tau Hoa". That makes me smile - that sign loosely translates to "Pay attention to the train" :) Not the name of the place.

Been living in Hanoi for awhile now. One of the more genuine people I’ve seen throughout my travels. Also, it’s probably worthy to note that the people in HCM and Hanoi are very different based on my personal experience.
I love the Vietnamese people. One of my best friends from childhood was a Vietnamese girl. I loved eating at her house because her mother made the best Vietnamese food! They’re very kind and hospitable people.

Phở Gà or Chicken Noodle Soup is one of my favorites. I even made a insta-pot version myself. Looked to me they did you a disservice, didn't show you how to properly prepare to eat it. By itself, kind of bland. Everyone has their own way to prepare it, I like adding a some Sriracha. fresh mint basil, bean sprouts and a bit of hoisin sauce. As always, I enjoy your wit and travel vicariously through your lens.

Those cards are laser cut. I don't know how much assembly is required but certainly no cutting.
Agreed, I wouldn't call it deception, but it certainly smells like a duck and looks like a duck..... Hand Assembly might be attaching the folding parts to the base paper, etc..... but the intricate folding parts are most certainly laser cut.

She can't show you the "family business" because the cards are not made by her sister. They are laser cuts from China. ..
They are not laser cut actually, the laser would leave burn marks on the light gsm of the paper.
Computer controlled knife cutter. She sure seemed a bit evasive about it though, didn't she. Always hard to tell when people are being genuine.

The reason why the guy at the train café suggested the downstair tables is because most of the vietnamese people try to evade long exposures to direct sunlight and heat.
Those cards are sold everywhere, they are even sold in my local market in Melbourne, Australia.
Obviously a laser cut and probably a big factory somewhere (China)
I bought some in Hoi An but saw them being hussled in many places..
They are sold online too but not cheap, but I haven't checked from China sites.
