  • ■ HONG HA, VIETNAM: After 2 hours of sleep it was time to hit the road for a Vietnamese breakfast. The only problem was, I don't know anything about what people eat in the morning. I was curious to find out though.
So after a brief stop at a gas station I scouted out 3 little Mom & Pop roadside restaurants, all preparing for a morning rush of hungry customers. Eager to experiment, I chose the most exotic looking dish on offer.... does anyone know the name of it?

The absolute most beautiful things about Vietnam, and especially the rural areas like here, is that you can get by so well without a common language. It's amazing how a smile and open attitude can get you so far. Look how welcoming and friendly literally all of these people are to Harald because he shows an interest in them and happily approaches them. Let's compare this to China for example where people would be talking and snickering about him and trying to rip him off at every given opportunity. Vietnam is a fantastic country.

Kind of scary to find out how we Americans have been told a very different story about how the people in other countries are isn't it. Think of the stereotypical messages we've been told about Cubans, Iranians, etc and it sort of explain how our troops go into those regions with guns ready to fire. People in general just want a steady job and food for their children, they really could give a rip about democracy, republic, socialism, etc

In this case, the «proper» way of eating is rolling the vegetables with banh cuon (pancake) and dip it with the sauce.

Our world is not so segregated as our media and governments would have us believe. It makes me emotional to see how friendly people are around the world, and that you are so generous to help them monetarily. You are a world ambassador worthy of recognition, and admiration. I long to travel the world, but because of my work and my position in life I can’t, so I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experiences. I can’t stop watching your videos!
