Orwell being an older rig will obviously have its issues but all these idiots saying that it needs to be retired or it doesn't have any life left in it are clueless. Orwell today in 2024 will outwork any of these plastic computers with wheels that are so prevalent on the highway today. My grandfather ran a 1977 Ford LT9000 dump truck on his potato farm from 1980 when he bought it until the day he died. It's still there today and my uncle puts it in parades. Some of these new rigs they're running now have been in the shop more in the past 2 or 3 years then that thing ever was in 40. They truly don't make them like they used to

Hi Steve, love your videos and Orwell is a credit to you, although you could find time one day to at least paint that odd wheel 😂, I ran a 1980 Ford Transcontinental which was the European version of the 9000 . I had a big cam Cummins only rated at 290hp but with the weight difference over here I could pull 44tons which is over 90,000lbs and I dragged that around Europe and the Middle East for more than 20 years. I eventually changed my Ford for a Scania with a 333hp six cylinder and it was a little better on fuel but I missed the room in the Ford.Anyway retired now and enjoying watching you,Tim,James Pretty,Chad Keegan and many others on your travels around the USA, I have been over there a few times but only for a holiday in Florida, enjoyed every minute. I keep track with the videos by following on
Google Maps and I think I can find my way to most of the places you all travel to,so keep the shiny side up,looking forward to the next one 👍

I know Orwell is a working truck, but working trucks can look good too. Recent issues made the mechanical side of the truck more important but now that that is taken care of, don't you think you could show some love to that rusty driver's side drive wheel? I now Orwell would appreciate it and the truck will probably gain 10 or 15 H.P. (lol).

Didn't know jakes having issue not working, That also adjusts engine idle speed and getting jam nut close is fine. But you will still have to set it to where you want engine idle RPM at. Tightening jam nut will change idle speed slightly just like tightening jam nut on rocker arm adjusting screws.

Comments on part one and part two
Get a radiator psi pump and adapt it to a number four line. Take the tube off the FRC and pump up the FRC and check for leaks. Naturally if the diaphragm is blown, it will not pump up. Could have a small leak on the fitting, gasket or internal leak on the valve, it will slowly leak down. You wasted money by buying the aluminum housing. If I was going to replace that part, I would have gotten the later design with no holes and the outer cover that uses an o-ring. On the outer cover you see a screw and nut (big Nut). That was used on CARB engines. Since you don't run in California, I take them out and throw them away. It can cause the valve to stick. You stuck it back in and it is an adjustment. The valve that you did not remove has an internal oring that can leak. Parts book shows a 7J0204, which is a bad seal. Cat replaced it with a 3E6760. So Cat has not updated the books or SIS. On your 7FB engine this is true on a lot of orings. They have been updated but when you buy parts from Cat. The parts guy and new tech's aren't aware of this and you purchase inferior seals. You don't have to take the snap ring off. Just remove the brown seal and install a new one. You only have to remove it, if your replacing the stem valve. Hope you got all the paper out, I have never used paper to put the stem valve in. The aluminum housing that the diaphragm slides over contacts the spring retainer. It cause a sharp edge on it. If you don't remove it your diaphragm can touch it and tear the new diaphragm. Also in your governor housing is a filter, 6N6680 and 2D6392 seal. I like to replace it as it is plastic. Your mounting seals for your FRC, has to be serial number specific. what you installed was correct. Few changes over the years.
On the low idle Jacobs switch, you could take the tach drive adapter off for more access
The sealing washer for a low idle Jacobs switch uses an oring made into it. I just use the Cat nut off a non Jacobs Brake engine. After I install the LI switch, I start the engine and make or check the low idle speed and adjust if needed. Setting is 700 RPM's.

A lot of the truckies i worked for had me jubilee clip a cole hersee 2 x speed diff switch to the gear lever just below the high/low knob and wire to the jake brake then they could use it to switch between auto and manual over ride, without reaching over to the dash switch.Very lazy truckies in Aus.

The daughter-in-law named it. It's for her use mainly.

Watching you “fix” the Jake brake switch made me wanna cry. Like come on do it right don’t have to worry about it later. Gasket schlack doesn’t work when you have to thread it in. It just smooshes the “schlack” out. The amount of pressure that’s there is pretty good and the side of that 3406b will look like Valdez
