I've researched this for a few yrs. Ever since Toyota worked on my mother's 06 RX330 this has been a problem. Plus dumped over $700 into it trying to resolve. It's also a part of 04-05 recall that they refuse to honor in the 06. Ty for the video!
@GypsyDiy Correct, and they won't honor it for 06. What I never figured out is.. Is this only issue w/ those built in Canada or also those built in Japan?
@brianchrisenberry4227 yeah man, I'm still getting that code from time to time. It can be due to a gas cap, o2 sensors, mass air flow, dirty air filter, loose hoses and who knows what else. The computer says it's the catalytic but if I reset the code it just goes away and I can pass emissions no problem.
I have same 2004 rx330, I don’t have any lights on but when I scan using BlueDrive it keeps showing Oxygen Censor scan not complete , but Ixygen Sensor Heat scan is complete, do you think I need to replace the Oxygen sensor like you did?
It's very hard to say what the issues are for sure at this age. I still drive my lexus rx330 everyday. Something new pops up once in a while but after I did the o2 sensors a ton of issues with the dash lights went away and the car seemed to have a tiny bit more power, which if the sensors were bad, would cause fuel air issues. Small other things to look out for is the gas cap. You would think it would make the computer go nuts but if yours is leaking air it will throw a code or 2. So in the end, it's a fairly easy repair and cheap parts so if you have high mileage and never replaced them, I'd do it. Also I'd replace the mass air flow unit as well. Let me know what you find
Didn't check to see if cruse worked during the lights but they were O2 sensors that were the cause so can't see them being linked together. But I've done a bunch of research and some people said that it was their gas cap that wasn't holding a seal as well as other said it was due to a vacuum leak in the main air intake. Some needed to get to the mass air flow sensor and clean it and they put it back together and it was fine. However, troubleshooting 101 sometimes requires us to simply take it apart and put it back together. By doing that, the loose bolt or screw that looks fine at a glance ends up being the problem gets solved simply by taking it off completely then knowingly putting it back with intention. Let me know how it works out
@monkeyflowz3894 i actually think all i did was search on Amazon for my year make and model o2 sensors and it came up. They have a feature that confirms your vehicle if you enter it
I would but the ones I bought since this video aren't the same. I bought them on Amazon so just look up your car and make sure it fits your vehicle. If we could speak on the phone I'd be happy to help but what if do is go to a local car parts store and tell them what you need O2 sensors and they will tell you the parts. Then, go to Amazon and look them up.
@@AndrogyneStudiosLLC didn't need to change any more sensors so far. Passed emissions and no more lights. I'll be sure to post an update if things progress. Thanks for checking!
When all them lights turned on on my 06rx330, i had to replaced my throttle body because i lost a siganal from gas pedal to throttle body.. since the tps is built into the throttle body. Solved the problem.. but i still noticed from time to time my abs. Vsc, trac off and that tire pressure light flashing would come on. But no check engine light tho. Do you Have any suggestion what to look into fixing it?
It's funny but I think those lights come on for a million reasons. Basically I think when anything goes wrong, those lights all turn on. So many people have posted they had completely different issues but those lights came on just the same. 1st time for me was a leaking gas cap.
Yeah, but ever since inreplaced my throttle body it had only turned on once after a yr. It was break switch. But when i turned the key off and turned it back on it gone and haven’t turn on since then till now. Knock on wood. Lol
Does anyone ever think about the yaw sensor? Yaw sensor is what control and balance ur car according to center of gravity to keep the all 4 tires to the ground. So if vehicle stability control (vsc), traction control and engine light is on then replace the yaw sensor....
@user-in9zv2qe6b go to know, but that error comes on for many other reasons and this was one one them. A bad gas cap can cause too much air in to system and cause this error as well. The VSC error is almost as general as a check engine light. So never needed to replace the yaw sensor and this fixed the code and light never came back on.
great video, same lights have stayed on as well. was told it was a cat replacement. will try this! specific brand of 02 sensor you used or recommend? always can ask the associates in store but just to have something to off of instead of asking google. lol thanks in advance
I just bought them off Amazon, half the price of the auto parts store and worked perfectly. Make sure you get one for the pre cat and post cat as they have very different connection points.
Do you have the bluedriver? You can get them on Amazon for 100. Works on both iPhone and android. Reads the deep codes and even shows where to get the parts and links to support sites. Saved me thousands
I had got the o2 sensor but a shop told me I didn't needed them I guess cause I'm a lady n I replace the cat 1st n then I seen for myself that the o2 was definitely bad... are you in atl area
P0171/P0174 system lean, actually is you have a vacumm leak in the emission system. Make sure the vacumm hose is connected correctly their is a diagram on the hood. I fix my P0171/P0174 problem. O2 sensor will give you a specific code just for that.

Ha! Mine is a 2004 so I should have had them fix it. Oh well, I figured it out and now I know more!

@GypsyDiy Correct, and they won't honor it for 06. What I never figured out is.. Is this only issue w/ those built in Canada or also those built in Japan?

@tengzturiagaiii3185 here's hoping
Thought you can access these sensors from the bottom not the top.
I guess that depends if you're jacking the car up in a home garage vs. having access to a lift. But no matter what, it's gonna be painful process
There are actually 4 of the sensors. Two up stream (pre-cat) and 2 post. I'm going to do like you and replace the two easy ones, yes easy ones first.
I didn't know that, thanks!
