    I bought a close to perfect 2004 Lexus RX330 with 135K miles, early this year for $6200. It's been great! It's very comfortable and low maintenance. Also, I've always liked the classy style to it and the dependability of Toyota. In the past, I've owned both Benz and BMW suvs and they had many issues and costs and arm and a leg to repair. I wished that I had gotten the Lex sooner. :-)

    My current daily driver since 2018 is a 2002 RX300 with 87K miles. It was bought new by a family member for around 30K and when I got it it had 41K miles, garage kept and almost perfect. I've changed the oil every 5K, put in new battery, a couple bulbs, wiper blades, and the biggie a $900 engine computer PCM/ECU. Less than $1,500 in 4 years and 46K miles.

    My wife has a 2004 Lexus RX330 that she has owned since 2007. It’s pushing 180,000 miles & runs like brand new. Super comfortable & very reliable with just routine maintenance. Change the oil every 5,000 miles. It does have a timing belt ( not a chain ) that you should change every 100,000 miles. You just can’t beat Lexus & Toyota.

    I am not a fan of luxury cars, but I like Toyota's, so when I had the chance to buy a 2006 RX330 in mint condition that had been garaged and immaculately maintained since new by an old man who drove it gently... I had to buy it. That was 100k miles ago, and I'm now at 226k miles. To this day, the car has never broken even once. It has never had anything done to it other than all routine maintenance and when people ride in it, they think it's a new car because it still drives like new in every way.

    That rear door will power open with the Key fob. you haven't o push the unlock 2 times so the doors are open then push the POWER DOOR on the key fob and it will open automatically.
    To do it without a key Fob control, from the drivers side door open all the locks - on the drivers side up under the dash a bit where your left knee might be pointing if you were sitting in the drivers seat there is a PWR door button, it's actually kind of big, I have to bend down under there to see it though. push that and hold it for 2 seconds and the rear door will open.
    Just writing this because I have seen other folks that thought the door fkd as well but if it will close with teh auto button on the rear it will open as well if the doors are all unlocked.

    Great video really feel the car!!
    My Honda is 20 yrs of and the other day I thought I’d like to look at some used car lots. Knew I wanted another suv so I drove some 2004-2005 models on the lot as that’s all I can afford but I ended up feeling happy that I could afford a mor luxurious one, just higher mileage and feel safe that if the make is good, then higher mileage won’t necessarily be bad.
    The first one I drove was a 2005 Honda Pilot EXL ….I currently have a CRV that has done me well but loved the V6 engine in this pilot!!
    Before I buy that one I’m looking also at this Lexus model your showing. But haven’t test drove one yet.
    What do you think about the Pilot???
    I really like the feel, it was not as luxe as Lexus, but felt so stable strong and well built and had a lot of appointments because it’s EXL model.
    Have you, or could you do a video review of the Pilot too??
    Thx🙌

    • @carsquad_
      @carsquad_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those Pilots from that generation are an excellent option.I drove an EXL as well a few years back and agree with what you said in terms of the driving feel and being a solid vehicle. I think a few things to consider if deciding between that and an RX. 1 would be size. The RX will be a little smaller. The Pilot is larger but offers more space to haul more people around. Both can be great options depending on what your needs are. The Lexus of course will be a little bit more on the maintenance side cost wise, but if you have a good local mechanic of course you can save some here. And I will try to get my hands on a Pilot to review.

    Someone is selling me an 04 triple black with 180k timing belt and water pump has been done ,camshaft position sensor , battery, crankshaft sensor , speed sensor ,oxygen sensor and right side catalytic converter . He wants 3900. Is that a safe bet or stay away. Paint and interior are 8.5

      I just did a quick search of 04 RX listings and price wise that seems reasonable as long as things check out mechanically

    While Lexus are a lot of $$ up front they out last any other luxury brand. I have 04 rx330 with 174k on the clock. The next model up the rx350 is probably slightly better because it has a timing chain and you don't have to replace that like the timing belt on the rx330 which is about $800 every 100k miles.

    • @carsquad_
      @carsquad_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. Spend a little more up front but it'll save you spending more in the long run.

    • @jackbteaching

      But I think starting with '06 the RX's require premium fuel. '04-'05s use regular 87octane fuel (based on what I found), so can an RX owner confirm this? One reason I'm seeking an 04-05 model now. Cheers.

    Right side mirror is BURNT UP, the heater inside of these notoriously burns that up. Pisses me off - I dont know how to stop it from happening. You can buy and install a new one but it will happen again. it's not supposed o be all orang and rainbowed like that.

    • @carsquad_
      @carsquad_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sucks that it keeps happening. I guess is the grand scheme of things, a car this age with this many miles, in my opinion that is pretty good, that that seems to be one of the few problems.

      I found a cover on ebay for $127.49. They recommend professional installation. Sadly the cracked dashboards are very common. There was a time when Lexus would repair them even when the guarantee ran out.
