    I have an '04 sc430 and yours is the first video, and I watched many, that actually gave me a good idea of where these things are located. Thank you!! Also, thanks for the reminder to take my time and not to get frustrated.

    Are you saying the 2 front sensors (toward front of the engine) before cat are the same 02 sensor part #? I bought 2 was able to get the one in front right of the Heat Shroud, however the other upstream lower left... (the one going right into the pipe) that connector did not fit? so I had to return one.. I removed it and the holes on the tip of the sensor were different than the one on the right of the heat shroud.... Any info will help.. thx

      The air/fuel sensors (before the catalytic converters) are the same. However, the engine is placed in the vehicle sideways. That means there are air/fuel sensors on each side of the engine. One is in the front (first one I described in the video) and the other is in the back of the engine, right next to the firewall (fourth one I described in the video). Hope that helps.

    after using the o2 socket where does the other side come unplugged from? i got a 04 rx330 and don’t want to just pull it out without undoing it

      I would recommend unplugging the wiring harness before you use the socket. Otherwise, it will twist the wiring and make it more complicated.

    Hello! I have a 2013 Lexus es350 with 108k miles, I’m the second owner and I got a check engine light. I went to autozone and the codes were P0441 P0455. The worker who has really helpful told me that it was probably an 02 sensor. Any thoughts as to what it could be? Im going to the mechanic shop two days from now. Thanks!!

    • @gdupler1966
      @gdupler1966  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The combination of those codes usually means you need a new gas cap. I would look at that, check the vacuum lines, and probably a PCV valve.

      I changed all 4 on my 08 GS350 with 123k 2 upstream and 2 downstream the way I change them because I was getting puff white smoke on warm startup and the mechanic told me your o2 sensor might causing this but he was wrong , good luck 👍🏼

      Just my opinion, more emission issue than drivability, but I don't like having the codes. If it were me, I would try a cat cleaner in the gas tank first. If that doesn't work, replace the sensor. If that doesn't work try: th-cam.com/video/t4MCUwaeqA4/w-d-xo.html

    I heard there’s something called “ adaptation values “ which you should do it with your OBD after replacing any oxygen sensor so they can read the new date but not the stored old data. Any idea on this one ? Great video by the way 👍🏼

    • @gdupler1966
      @gdupler1966  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! I have heard of the term with certain codes like P2097. Whenever I have replaced sensors on Toyotas I let the PCM figure it out and see if it resets. If not after some short drives, I reset it with my scanner.

      @@gdupler1966 in my case acutely I never had any codes or any engine light but my car was puffing white smoke at startup and the mechanic says your down stream O2 sensors are bad and that’s what cause that smoke ! He says it need to be performed manually and have it reset to factory something like that still getting the same smoke after new sensor were replaced 🤔 the codes he found was p0131 and p0134

      @@costantineyoussif6679 those two codes point to the upstream pre-cat air fuel sensor on the left side not the downstream. If it were my vehicle, I would replace that particular sensor and see if that solves the problem. You should only see smoke at start up on cold mornings. Also need to check the coolant to make sure the heads and gaskets are ok.

      @@gdupler1966 I have 08 Lexus GS350 and it has so many oxygen sensor, the one who diagnosed says bank 1 sensor 2 & bank 2 sensor 2 , he mentioned that’s the 2 sensor by the exhaust so I went and bought 2 of them OEM ones. Do you think I might give a try and change the front one ?

Due to the age of the vehicle, and probably the mileage, I would replace all 4 sensors with OEM units to eliminate any issues from them. G, About how long would you say this took you? 1 hour? 2? Mechanic wants to charge $750 for this job (parts+labor) and I'm thinking the parts are under $200 and no way hes gonna spend 4 hours on it LOL

    • @gdupler1966

      Maia, good question. I would think an experienced mechanic would take 2 hours tops. I purchased the Denso OEM sensors from Amazon for right around $200. I understand that mechanics have to make it worth their while, but if it were me, I would check some other estimates.
