You were not doing his SST any justice being in just Sport mode and hammering it. If the owner flashed S-Sport into it, you would feel an even better response. These cars have so much potential and are often under estimated. While its no EVO, it can be a contender if built right.

In my opinion its not quite what the WRX is to the STI when being compared to a Evo, but its defiantly a cool alternative. As some one once told me "The WRX can hold its own when being compared to the STI, but the Lancer Ralliart is more of a warm Lancer." Not trying to be a Subaru fanboy here, I actually considered a Ralliart for quite some time. I just didn't see to many positive things said about it. It really does have that look people look for in the Evo, so its got that going for it.

MrGovenator1 i always thought of the wrx to the gsr and the sti to the mr. i really like the ralliart but i wished it had a manual option.
Joe Lor The GSR and MR are both Evolution trims though. The WRX is its own trim.
Joe Lor The only big performance difference between a GSR and an MR is the 5-speed manual on the GSR vs 6-speed TC-SST on the MR. While its engine performance is decent, WRX is missing all the essential performance parts on the STI - diffs, big brakes, suspension, so your comparison is really far off.
On the other hand the Ralliart is also down on brakes and suspension compared to the Evo, but it does have a near identical drivetrain with front and rear diffs, same TC-SST as the MR, and same engine with different turbo system.

You just got yourself a new subber! =) Found out about you through Evan's videos. I've only seen a couple of yours but I like it so far. I had a Lancer, then upgraded to the Ralliart, and now have the Evo. I loved my Ralliart, but it's definitely not an Evo like you said. Lol still a beast though. I ended up going with the Evo MR.. same trans as the Ralliart. ^_^ anyway!!! Keep the videos coming! I've got a lot of catching up to do! =)

All wrx before 2010 are slower than ralliarts stock, after 2010 theres no comparison

WRX's are not reliable dumbass I should know I have friends that had them and got rid of them I have a Evo 2015 final Edition and never had no problems out of my shit!!

Bmw hasn't used SMG or steptronic for literally over a decade. Now they use M-DCT which is also a dual clutch tranny made by Getrag. Getrag also makes the TC-SST that's in the Ralliart & Evolution MR. Great review tho man!

I gave the Ralliart a try, test drove it... and for it being about 10k less than an Evo X... thats not too bad. Down the line, you can always put $$ into it to make it just as fast as an Evo X (stock). I guess it all depends on preference... The Evo X is far superior when it comes to the complete package right from the dealer, and your paying $10k more for it. I enjoyed the test drive, it was very comfortable, a nice daily... and the twin clutch transmission is the same as what's in the MR i believe...

I got a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart as my first car . I got it with the “sport package “ which included recaro seats and a premium sound system . And it’s been one of the best cars I’ve ever had . I daily drove that thing for years .
hazard4417 I own the same car and it’s amazing. My L was suspended for 3 years and it started right up when I could drive again.

Scott Brixey it was an opinion based off visual observation. not once did i say this car was slow or slower than his brz. im sure its a great car but you can clearly see on his first pull he wasn't too thrilled. watch the review of the wrx hatch or the supercharged brz. TJ nearly creams his pants. you will then understand my logic. fuckin hater, maybe next time you wont be such an asshole when the internet voices an opinion you don't quite understand.
granddaddyHerps lol well the thing about those two cars, first, they are both manual, secondly, they are both pushing at least 75 more hp? which makes a huge difference lol. I have watched both reviews.
granddaddyHerps maybe he wasn't as amused because he's used to that kind of power from his brz? I'm not saying you're wrong in your observation, while I agree, you're hinting at the fact that the car was slow and that he didn't like the car, which defiantly wasn't the case...
granddaddyHerps He might be a little bias towards to brz as he has one, plus the wrx has more power anyways than the RA. He needs to drive more than 20min's to really have an idea of the car, he was a tad off on power numbers. He needed to put it in Sport Mode/Auto from a dead stop and see how he likes it then. Plus the reason he really didn't hear the turbo spool is two reasons, it's a small turbo, and he had it in Sport Mode and the engine drone is pretty loud.
First video of yours that I watched that ultimately made me buy a Lancer! Couldn't get the Lancer Ralliart brand new so I went with the Lancer GT!

The J Media I just bought a Lancer GT about a month ago. I actually love it. I envy this Ralliart and of course an EVO but it has enough power and style considering where I live.

Tj Hunt What did you think about that seating position and non telescoping wheel?
While the transmission can shift automatically, it is NOT a typical 'Automatic'. There is no torque converter or planetary gears. Shifts are nearly instantaneous, getting faster in sport and s-sport mode (Evo MR or flashed TCU)
The cool thing about the Ralliart is that there's a hatch version too, I really wanted one at one point
isnt the only real difference between this and the evo is basically the ralliart has a smaller turbo? i think swap out the turbo, and exhaust from the evo, and u basically have a tamer looking evo.

NO. Quite a few differences. The Ralliart is the lancer body, suspension, etc. with the engine and drivetrain from the Evo MR. It has a different turbo, different header, and a few other things. I have a 2010 GTS and a 2014 Ralliart and I love them both.

+Mykok810 after upgrading the intake and getting a turboback and a tune it is everything I could ever want. But if you're going to buy one make sure its got the sports package with the Recaros and Projector headlights
the one im looking at has the rockford sound system with the recaro seats. Now this is where im unsure, can you get those as an option or do they only come on the sport package? i only ask because the description they have doesn't mention the projectors.

dont see why Mitsubishi focused only on the lancers instead of the eclipse or GTO, putting all their eggs in one basket was a huge failure on their part.
I never understood why ralliart is not more badged on the Evolution. since its kinda strange all the technologies are from ralliart international. I don't get the connection for the name Evolution since it not always used in the Ralliart's race cars. IMHO the evolution starts with the lancer and ends with the ralliart...since its the name of the source rally car homologation. not to mention the name of said R&D. I have googled and looked though translated sites and can find nothing that explains the name evolution's roots. it boils down to this word. Ransâeboryúshon (ランサーエボリューション) which was a prototype name for a car Mitsubishi used many times, and once in the movie FF Tokyo drift car. I cant find out why or where the evolution name came from.
Add a lip, spoiler and an exhaust and it would look beast!!

Those two things in the front of the hood are called vents, not "grills". They are designed to extract heat, not suck in cold air. Just saying.
I had an 08 GTS lancer. Felt a little sluggish to me. Unless I used the paddle shifters. Then again the transmission was bad.

Milos M Power Because the Ralliart doesn't come with a MT, is slower (0-60=5.5 vs 4.8 and 1/4 mile=14.3 vs 13.8), gets worse MPG (25 vs 28) and doesn't hold it's value as well. (info taken from caranddriver.com)

Milos M Power They took short cuts with the Ralliart. Its worth the extra money to get the EVO every time. Consumers know this and opt for the WRX.

I think ralliart is the better way to go. Cheaper, still handles and runs great, better on the insurance and a bit better ride. Evo's are awesome but as an everyday car for years to come idk lol. Only downside is the auto only. I was an idiot when I got my car because I'm fairly certain they had ralliarts on the lot but I just all out brain farted because I wasn't that into lancers at the time.

I drive a ralliart. Because I daily drive a lot. I bought my ralliart brand new and zero problems. At 70k miles.
the steering is electric and the brake disks are as large as the Montero sport suv. I believe the weight of the car is 2,888 also but the but the es sport and the ralliart was made to enjoy the winding backroads, to fall in love with driving again. the Evo is for serious inquiries.

Hey TJ! I have a question for you. I am a huge car guy and love sports cars and tuners and everything of the type. I would love to have one myself. However, i am still in highschool and live in Michigan. We get multiple feet of snow where im from and don't think anything of it. My question is, what do you think would be the ideal car to buy and modify that is fun to drive but also can handle the weather? I have a 10 thousand dollar budget in the form of my suv, and i am torn as to what car i should pursue. I would be grateful and happy with anything fast or fun to drive and modify. I dont have many opportunities to ride in fast cars because here we all drive trucks and only adults have sports cars. Hopefully someone could help? Thanks a million

I was interested in the Lancer and Impreza when i was looking for a new car I test drove WRX and then went to Mitsubishi to test drive this. After I was done I sped back to Subaru to finalize paperwork on my 2013-14 WRX last gen model.( i hate the look and feel of the 2015 model and its whiny 2.0l dit engine. Dont get me wrong the interior is way nicer and its built better but its fugly looks turned me away also any vehicle with a new engine model i will stay clear of for a few yrs until proven reliable. Anyway. The last gen WRX just feels plain stronger and more aggresive than the Ralliart's Also the seat destroy the raliarts in comfort and bolstering. . Still, the Ralliart is not bad at all, I just felt the WRX edged it out in most categories so i got it $26k out the door for an outgoing model is not bad at all either =)
I had my 2010 Ralliart up to 105 MPH on the 101 near Los Angeles. Didn't even know I was going that fast.
had an 08 ralliart, got into a car crash and it was totalled. bought an 09 evo 10 mr and i love it, its definitely better, but for daily driving its not a huge gap.
