In my opinion its not quite what the WRX is to the STI when being compared to a Evo, but its defiantly a cool alternative. As some one once told me "The WRX can hold its own when being compared to the STI, but the Lancer Ralliart is more of a warm Lancer." Not trying to be a Subaru fanboy here, I actually considered a Ralliart for quite some time. I just didn't see to many positive things said about it. It really does have that look people look for in the Evo, so its got that going for it.
Joe Lor The only big performance difference between a GSR and an MR is the 5-speed manual on the GSR vs 6-speed TC-SST on the MR. While its engine performance is decent, WRX is missing all the essential performance parts on the STI - diffs, big brakes, suspension, so your comparison is really far off. On the other hand the Ralliart is also down on brakes and suspension compared to the Evo, but it does have a near identical drivetrain with front and rear diffs, same TC-SST as the MR, and same engine with different turbo system.

I got a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart as my first car . I got it with the “sport package “ which included recaro seats and a premium sound system . And it’s been one of the best cars I’ve ever had . I daily drove that thing for years .
You were not doing his SST any justice being in just Sport mode and hammering it. If the owner flashed S-Sport into it, you would feel an even better response. These cars have so much potential and are often under estimated. While its no EVO, it can be a contender if built right.
I gave the Ralliart a try, test drove it... and for it being about 10k less than an Evo X... thats not too bad. Down the line, you can always put $$ into it to make it just as fast as an Evo X (stock). I guess it all depends on preference... The Evo X is far superior when it comes to the complete package right from the dealer, and your paying $10k more for it. I enjoyed the test drive, it was very comfortable, a nice daily... and the twin clutch transmission is the same as what's in the MR i believe...

I had a Lancer, then upgraded to the Ralliart, and now have the Evo. I loved my Ralliart, but it's definitely not an Evo like you said. Lol still a beast though. Bmw hasn't used SMG or steptronic for literally over a decade. Now they use M-DCT which is also a dual clutch tranny made by Getrag. Getrag also makes the TC-SST that's in the Ralliart & Evolution MR. Great review tho man!

NO. Quite a few differences. The Ralliart is the lancer body, suspension, etc. with the engine and drivetrain from the Evo MR. It has a different turbo, different header, and a few other things. I have a 2010 GTS and a 2014 Ralliart and I love them both.

The J Media I just bought a Lancer GT about a month ago. I actually love it. I envy this Ralliart and of course an EVO but it has enough power and style considering where I live.
While the transmission can shift automatically, it is NOT a typical 'Automatic'. There is no torque converter or planetary gears. Shifts are nearly instantaneous, getting faster in sport and s-sport mode (Evo MR or flashed TCU)
the steering is electric and the brake disks are as large as the Montero sport suv. I believe the weight of the car is 2,888 also but the but the es sport and the ralliart was made to enjoy the winding backroads, to fall in love with driving again. the Evo is for serious inquiries.
Hey TJ! I have a question for you. I am a huge car guy and love sports cars and tuners and everything of the type. I would love to have one myself. However, i am still in highschool and live in Michigan. We get multiple feet of snow where im from and don't think anything of it. My question is, what do you think would be the ideal car to buy and modify that is fun to drive but also can handle the weather? I have a 10 thousand dollar budget in the form of my suv, and i am torn as to what car i should pursue. I would be grateful and happy with anything fast or fun to drive and modify. I dont have many opportunities to ride in fast cars because here we all drive trucks and only adults have sports cars. Hopefully someone could help? Thanks a million

I never understood why ralliart is not more badged on the Evolution. since its kinda strange all the technologies are from ralliart international. I don't get the connection for the name Evolution since it not always used in the Ralliart's race cars. IMHO the evolution starts with the lancer and ends with the ralliart...since its the name of the source rally car homologation. not to mention the name of said R&D. I have googled and looked though translated sites and can find nothing that explains the name evolution's roots. it boils down to this word. Ransâeboryúshon (ランサーエボリューション) which was a prototype name for a car Mitsubishi used many times, and once in the movie FF Tokyo drift car. I cant find out why or where the evolution name came from.

He needs to drive more than 20min's to really have an idea of the car, he was a tad off on power numbers. He needed to put it in Sport Mode/Auto from a dead stop and see how he likes it then. Plus the reason he really didn't hear the turbo spool is two reasons, it's a small turbo, and he had it in Sport Mode and the engine drone is pretty loud.

Those two things in the front of the hood are called vents, not "grills". They are designed to extract heat, not suck in cold air. Just saying.

I had an 08 GTS lancer. Felt a little sluggish to me. Unless I used the paddle shifters. Then again the transmission was bad.

that ralliart suspension is more comfortable than evo. daily driver is very nice

Too bad i can't seem to find any second hand evo's (at all) in my area. I'm only 14 but already on the lookout for cars with nice performance headroom
Ramses De Vuyst Where do you live? I have seen tons of Evo's not too far from my area. They are far but If I was old enough to get my license I would be willing to drive for an hour or possibly more.
SmoothAsButter SN. I live in Belgium an i can only find about 10 evo's which all have quite high mileage, but i have to wait another 4 years 'till i can get my license
Ramses De Vuyst Hetzelfde hier lol. Ik ben 13. In Nederland hebben we genoeg Evo's oud en nieuw! Misschien kan je hier komen om eentje te kopen. Ik heb ook veel Evo's gezien die uit Japan zijn geimporteerd.

I dont understand why Ralliart is not popular like WRX, still they are in same class

Milos M Power Because the Ralliart doesn't come with a MT, is slower (0-60=5.5 vs 4.8 and 1/4 mile=14.3 vs 13.8), gets worse MPG (25 vs 28) and doesn't hold it's value as well. (info taken from caranddriver.com)

Milos M Power They took short cuts with the Ralliart. Its worth the extra money to get the EVO every time. Consumers know this and opt for the WRX.
can't wait to get coilovers for my rsx type s. Mine looks like a monster truck right now. Some cars stock are way to high.
