Did all of the above and no issues now. Appreciate it. There was quite a bit of build up on the fan. Most likely the cause of the issue. Super easy to break it down and clean. Don't be scared to do it! Thanks for the walk through

I would have played until something came up and taken it to a repair shop but after watching this demonstration I feel I can do in on my own too which will be more timely and doesn't take much time either. So glad to see they made the PS5 a lot easier to get to parts for servicing. The PS4 was a whole other story and I was frighten to opening it up.

Good vid, but an easy way, buy a small fine brush (kindof like the ones used to paint corners of interior walls) the fibers will go deep enough to scrub the fins and knock the dust loose, take your time on both sides and use a vaccume to catch the rest. This way you avoid breaking anything. I did it two days ago, fan looks brand new.

Commenting to add to the algorithm. I came here to figure out how to remove those vent pieces when I was cleaning and didn't realize I had enough wire to set the fan aside to clean it instead of risking removing it from the board it's on, which was what I had planned. Great video and kudos to Sony for the design/engineering.

If you don’t have the right screwdriver setup for the fan screws, then you can still get the job done by using an air duster spray can to spray the blades. and you can catch the dust with a vacuum hose. Usually the top back vents of the console.
Try to spray only in the direction the fan is supposed to spin.

Thanks so much man. Gained a subscriber. Got my PS5 for 15 months and dust was starting to be unpleasantly visible on grid and part of the fan. Followed this, and now is as clean as new. The only part where I struggle was removing the front plate.
Important: the screwdriver that fits better is a T8 security torx. To clean the fan properly help yourself with canned air and a dust catcher to reach the tricky part between the blades. I used the screwdriver to help me push the dust catcher deep between the blades. Hopes this helps!

Had mine since Day 1 of launch and there wasn't a lot of dust in there so probably wasn't worth the hassle for me but its easily done and designed to be cleaned without voiding the warranty hence why the sticker is not touched. Just thought I give people an idea to how much dust will be in there after this period of time, however it really depends on the conditions you keep it in and whether you do plenty of dusting around where it sits.

    • @DreadBoi504

Thanks to this video, I was finally able to clean it and make it look brand new. I got a whole entire toolbox with wrenches, sockets and bits so I already had all tools necessary. Eventually…you’ll have to do the same or have it done for your PS5 too. No matter how clean, there’s just no escaping dirt/dust buildup.

Why unplug it? The cable is very sensitive and it’s easy to break it if you pull on it plus the pins could bend if you wiggle it. Theres literally no reason to unplug the fan since you can access it while it’s still plugged in like he showed in the video…

Thank you. I have sudden power-off issue. Took things apart and evicted some dust bunnies. Y’all make sure to look inside where the bottom would be. There grill is a grill there with tiny round holes that was stuffed up. It catches everything that flies into the ps5. But also chokes the air going to the power supply. I suspect that will solve my issue

Dude.. never use a standard vacuum cleaner to suck anything from a sensitive electronic.. so unless yours is a specially made vacuum cleaner that is designed to clean electronics. Don't do it. You risk ruining your electronics due to the static electricity a vacuum cleaner creates..

    • @RAFEXKX

I cleaned my ps5 with a normal vacuum cleaner multiple times, BUT ONLY USE THE HOSE ON THE HOLES, NEVER ON THE FAN. The holes were meant to be vacuumed, and should be the only thing vacuumed.
