    Bug Expert from the south of the continent here. Those are "Blattella Germanica", commonly known as german cockroaches. They're small, like an inch big at most, we call them "Chiripas" over here in Venezuela. They're annoying, and love electronics for some reason, we commonly see them inside air conditioning units, behind refrigerators, etc. Basically any device that produces warmth of some sort, will attract them.

      I have read that bugs love electronic so much because the coating on the wires isn't actually plastic. It's made from some soy compound and when it gets hot, they can smell it. Run right too it like the dinner bell is ringing.

      @@whitegenome22because over time they get dust in them bud consoles have vents on them so they can breath and that leaves them open to dust and bugs not cleaning them will result in over heating fire hazards and infestations if you live in an apt complex with nasty naighbors you can be very clean and these things still get dirty over time and people dont grasp that concept and instead of thinking that way would rather just call the owners nasty and dirty when chances are there probably cleaner then they are 🤷

    • @Smokie_666
      @Smokie_666 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +48

      @@maze1987eb It's possible they live in an apartment where pest control is not covered by management. I lived in one for a short time that had this situation so it was up to the tenants to handle bugs and such. This is a big issue because bugs move and the fact you can clean out one apartment just sends them to other apartments (you really need to handle all of them at the same time). This is the main reason why my stay there was so brief.

    • @Mike-m2i2q
      @Mike-m2i2q 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I had all my stuff moved into an apartment I rented after having a video tour. I was out of state for about a month before I actually moved. Within 20 mins of arriving I saw maybe 70 roaches (it was 1pm) every box I owned turned into a nest. The worst part tho were my electronics, there were roaches crawling ALL over the inside of my desktop, laptop and my ps5/Xbox. I had to legit throw everything out since the insides were covered in a putrid waxy lipid like substance.

    • @justwatch7091
      @justwatch7091 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@ambertheplugYeah, I have lived in apartments in a very hot and humid city for my whole life. We used to do our own pest control but it only lasts like 6 months and we couldn't do it each time due to price. We decided to buy some poisonous bug traps. They are not as effective as full pest control but more accessable. On top of that, we do house cleaning every 2 or 3 days but still not enough to get rid of them. Luckily, cockroaches never get out of kitchen and they only appear during the night.

      A lot of it depends on where you live. In the south bugs are a bigger issue, and in warmer places a lot of people have open air sections of their house causing bugs to be a bigger issue than it is for someone living further north. My buddy lives in Arizona and has a console out on his patio under a gazebo. He has to clean it every couple weeks because bugs will try to crawl in it.

    You could soak the bottom shell with metal part in soapy water too. It won't rust immediately and is perfectly safe to clean it with water, just make sure to dry it well with paper towels and give it some extra time to dry (or use some hair dryer set at the lowest temp). before you reassembly the console. I washed many metal parts by soaking in soapy water, including shields in SNES, and never got any rust when dried properly.
    Also this residue goo from bugs is also their poo ;)

    Unless you live in space, or maybe the middle of Antarctica, there are going to be cockroaches. Those might be either American or German cockroaches - either way, nasty stuff. Peroxide, followed by an IPA rubdown, will make the clean-up easier. Not easy - just easier. It also does a fair job with removing the odor.
    And most southerners won't call them roaches - they call them Palmetto bugs, but those tend to be MUCH larger - same family, different species.

    • @JohnLafitte
      @JohnLafitte ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think those were german cockroaches. Agreed, they do tend to live everywhere, but in colder climates they are not as common when there isn't an infestation. American cockroaches are common in Texas, they are huge. They don't usually infest like german ones do, more often live under decks or other damp places. When they sneak their way inside it can be quite jolting to see such a huge nasty creature.

    First time ever visitor to your channel. I am just sharing my first impression(s). EVERYTHING within your video is great. The background, lighting, the crisp clean sharp quality, the presentation with the excellent monolog and commentary. Let's not forget what I perceive as expert and talented video editing of unnecessary scenes and seamless fade-ins/outs... the fast motion through time consuming tasks in the disassembly and assembly that keeps the viewer interested and not tempted to "click away" is awesome! The only thing - and I mean the ONLY editing choice I have issue with (and this is just me CONSISTANTLY across the board with almost all creators of video) is the edited in of looping background music. That's the only thing that made me want to leave at a couple points. In this viewer's opinion, the music is not needed to "set a mood" or to keep the viewers from getting bored. When the music stopped around 6:17 I was grateful until it resumed later. The soap being stirred into the water made me pause the video and visit the latrine, the truth be told....

    After 15 months of owning a PS5 I finally cleaned it yesterday. Not a deep clean though, just the fan. A bit surprised that it's not as dirty as I thought it should, considering my play room is on the second floot (hotter), not air-conditioned, the console is near always-open windows, and I smoke a lot.
    The fan and ventilation grills are relatively easy to clean, not too many dust have accumulated. But the metal parts are yellowed and somehow a little corroded in a few places.

    Yep. Those are cockroaches. The worst kind…they love to get into electronics and short things out. A lot of people don’t realize this, but they are a fire hazard because of this. And all it takes to prevent them is not leaving food and water out, and some occasional light cleaning. A word of caution, if I was you, I wouldn’t take something like that for cleaning anymore, personally. The eggs those things lay are impervious to almost everything. In order to get rid of them, you have to let them hatch out of their eggs every 2 weeks and poison them before they have a chance to lay eggs. Usually, it takes 3 waves, 2 weeks apart.

    Those are German Cockroaches. They come for the food, and stay for the warmth.
    Also, the power supply is the main thing the roaches are attracted to, so I bet there were quite a few dead ones in there. They go into the power supply because of the heat it generates, accidentally touch two points, and get absolutely fried. That's why a lot of roach consoles won't power on. The power supply gets fried.

That's why Tronics video grossed me out when I saw him open it up and I am still itching from it.

    In the United States under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, manufacturers CANNOT void a warranty solely because a consumer has opened up the device or had it repaired by a third party. However, if the tampering or third-party repair causes damage, the warranty can be voided for that particular issue (this can happen regardless if sticker is removed or not, think of how they say that damage was your negligence, not our defect and void your warranty anyways).

    I think that you should've opened up the power supply and at least clean it off camera. I don't I'd be satisfied with a roachy power supply. I don't know what kind of roaches they are either but they look like the kind that loves to infest electronics.
    A few years ago someone gave me a car that had a tail light rain water leak into the spare tire well and subsequent roach infestation. I fixed the leak and literally cleaned everything inside the car. Several scores of dead roaches and several hundred roach feces got cleaned out. It still took several months for the roach smell to go away. I should've invested in an ozone generator for that part.

    I will have to agree with Shinoda about the bugs being German Roaches. They are extremely hard to get rid of. When you see one, there is a small nest around somewhere, without a doubt. It is not the warmth they seek, but dark & small places they look for. The best way to get rid of them is to get a Bug Spray Boom and place it in the Attic. Leave the home with your pets (even the fish) for a few hours.
