You can also use a mini vac or vac tube and tape a sturdy straw to the end and reach the straw inside of tight spots to suck dust instead of blowing it all around into other areas of the internals. Js another method I’ve discovered for myself as well that works well.
Definitely one way to MacGyver a cleaning, the only issue is you cant get into the fan with a straw, you'll only be at the surface which with the opening of a straw likely doesnt have enough power to pull the dust from deeper inside the fan ✅Wil
Everyone watching this as a tutorial and attempts to take out the fan. YOU NEED THAT T9 driver. Without it you’re not going to ope sh!t but instead end up damaging the screws by trying ti poke around and seeing if something else might fit. MAKE SURE TO HAVE THE T9!

@PCC-DRiPPy it's not 100% safe, you can mess it up. I saw someone post on ifixit that they removed the yellow part with pliers because they saw pliers being used when unplugging the fan... they ripped out the socket instead of the plug. I can see a lot of people mistakenly grabbing the yellow part of the plug and ripping that out before realizing the plug is just the middle white plastic. That being said, if you're careful it's very safe and not that hard. But be careful!
This is the best video by far if you don't want get to complicated. It was my first time cleaning since I bought it last year, it was much needed it's quite again.
@@iceman62509 The screwdriver is probably a Philip's. But, if you're not sure, just check the screws on your PS5. I am pretty sure it is a Philip's though. Sony would not have used screws like Apple does, either torx or pentalobe screws. They made it accessible for us to be able to clean the fans and the inside.
When you put your side plates back on do not push on them like he does!!! Gently slide panel into place and then gently push upward. When I did it the way he says I bent the circles the snap into place in the top corners. Hopefully none of you have the same issue

Just did it and admittedly was terrified but it’s perfectly safe I couldn’t actually get the screws out to clean the majority of the dust so had to manually clean with a cue tip and a hoover in both hands 😅

I've had mine for over 2 years and I'm barely cleaning it today for the first time. There isn't even much dust. I keep my PS5 covered when I'm not using it, so that prevents dust from getting inside it.

However, I have turned on the iPad and have played a game with it still on, so I have to remind myself to take it off lol PS5 has actually shut off because I kept it on for a long time. Hopefully no lasting damage has been done. It seems to be ok and I have been playing it a lot lately.

We dont suggests using vacuums. Vacuums notoriously create a ton of static which can be discharged into your console and fry the parts. Canned air is usually only around ~$3-5 ✅Wil

A smaller attachement will help get into some nooks, but it's not necessary. Sometimes a regular vacuum is better because it doesnt have the focused force of a smaller one that could break small pieces of plastic. ✅Wil

DO NOT use canned air. It will just push the dust more into the console. Instead use a vacuum
Vacuum does work best just make sure not to put the fan through to much air pressure or stress
If it was me I'll send it to SONY headquarters and tell them to do this for me the hard way as if there was a problem with my console

It's recommended to clean it every month for a good console performance.

Thanks for the video. Mine actually took a T8 safty Torx head bit. The safty bit has a hole in the bit to fit over the tit in the screw. Fyi.

A smaller attachement will help get into some nooks, but it's not necessary. Sometimes a regular vacuum is better because it doesnt have the focused force of a smaller one that could break small pieces of plastic. ✅Wil
Yes i did my ps4 controller before. My ps5 controller needs a clean but im scared. Also i scared to open up my ps5 to clean dust in fans. £30 was quoted 😮

We've done it a few times. This one for cleaning. Another to swap out the plates for black ones. And just recently because we needed to swap them back to white. ✅Wil

T9 Security Torx Screwdriver. Most of the screws are normal T9 but they usually mix in a couple security screws here and there. ✅Wil

i tried my best taking the panels off wasn’t going hard at all and when i took it off those little tips broke off. 2 on each side broke off
You should be okay. At some point we swapped out panels. I just saw the other day that 3 of the tips weren't in their slots.🟢-Wil
