  • I had P0299 check engine DTC Code in muborak 2014 Ford Escape. In order to fix it I had to replace the Turbo Charger Intercooler Hose on the passenger side. That fixed the Turbocharger Underboist Condition.
    I hope this helps, thank you for watching!

    Just adding my experience in case anybody else is looking for possible causes of a P0299 on an Escape. My friend heard a pop when driving and the turbo stopped working, vehicle was very sluggish. The check engine light wasn't on (yet) but I found a P0299 stored in the PCM. It had just happened on that drive cycle. It also had a loud whistling noise when above about 3500rpm, which I felt was coming from under the air box.
    I ended up finding that the outlet hose on the Charged Air Cooler had popped off. It can be seen from the top if you shine a flashlight down. It was the hose on the driver side of the vehicle and the CAC is in front of the radiator. It has a worm-drive hose clamp but it was an odd size (9/32" I believe instead of the standard 5/16"). It was a bit awkward but I was able to get the hose back on and the clamp tightened down, and all is perfect now.

    I have the same code as yours P0299. I check the Intercooler and it’s bent, so you think replacing it will fix the problem?

  • @ricardosom7766

    Here’s my situation, my car has the light on and the code that it shows is p0299. I did a first check and didn’t see any broken hose, but saw a lil leaking of a green fluid which I assume is the coolant. Don’t know where it’s coming from yet, but do you think that’s the problem for the engine light on and the mentioned code?

    Nice video! i have the same code but i still can't solve it, did you felt some lack of power during it? because I do.

    • @fixit3879
      @fixit3879  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I felt occasional lack of power because of the leak, yes. The leak on I need was not very huge, thus power loss was mild and small and occasional. On my 2016 Cruze the power loss was drastic because the hose was disconnected. Here is that video:

      Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. Good luck !!!

      @@fixit3879 dude, you’re like me, I also have a 16 Cruze and a 14 Escape 1.6.
      Escape just had the Transmission rebuilt twice, thought we were good, then we got a combo P0299 and P0752 just today (P0752 seems to be another transmission-related issue, shift Solenoid), the running theory is if the solenoid is the issue, it should fix the P0299 code...but there was literally nothing wrong until today, no leaking on the garage floor, nothing.
      I have to say, I hate the escape with a damn passion...it’s been a complete burden on finances through all this covid mess.

    Maybe you should explain that you have to take half the front end off to access the area you want.. at least it seems you did. This is not a job for a lot of DIY'ers out there.

    Quick question I have the same code on my escape my said we have to remplace the turbo is that true?

    • @nickyic
      @nickyic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We replaced our turbo then they replaced the turbo sensor then still happened so then coded the purge valve. And you know what it happened again
      They then said there is short so replaced the wire harness and finally picked up yesterday. All was good this am then leaving work at 430. Guess what. Yes. Happens on start up only and shudders light is on. Only think left thats reasonably priced is gas cap. Turbo sensor and wire harness they did free but dang it this is my mom mobile. Cant take much more. I know they are just about to kill the car out of kindness at this point. I wonder how much they would buy it back for?

    That radiator hose will collapse if you don’t put the metal spring from the bad hose inside it. Boost hoses have a metal coil inside them to keep them from collapsing.

    I got this code only after I noticed my boost was not going to its usual 3/4 hash mark. Then the code 0299 came up after about 30 miles of "actual" low boost. Boost that was there was full and strong just not reaching normal target. The P0299 is not for a boost leak.

    Looks to me like he wrecked the car, tearing the hose. That's why there's still protective plastic on the new headlights and the airbag light is on (you can't just reset it).

    Hello,
    I own a 2014 Ford Escape 1.6 L- FWD, My engine failed due to being out of time. I order a used engine with 94000 miles on it, the engine was in working condition before being removed, I had it installed by a mechanic at a shop. However, within 1 minute of the car being started, there is a notification on the screen that read: High Engine Temperature Stop Safely. Upon scanning the following code came up P1299 Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection Active. The coolant level sensor, the coolant temp sensor, and the Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection sensor were replaced. The shop also reset the PCM however the issue is still there. The engine does not overheat while it is running from the data received on the tech computer. So far the tech at the shop told me the issue is electric and he will continue to work on it. My car does not have a remote start and is out of warranty.
    I would appreciate any opinions on resolving this issue.

    The video wasn't a diy, he was just showing what some of the problems were and how to possibly fix it. If you can't figure out how to take a bumper cover off maybe you shouldn't be replacing a simple hose 🤣
