    In all this chat, I totally missed one obvious thing: while I ordered "CJ5Z-9U465-A", the part that came STILL has "CJ5G-9U465-BA" silkscreened on it. So I guess my theories of these two parts being the same is more evident since they printed the one number on a part listed as the other!

      I'm an engineer, and these little nuances in CPM and Spares really annoy/interest me! It can be make or break. Really shows how someone who has their hands on the parts can know worlds more than a spreadsheet-jockey with all the drawings and BOM at their disposal.
      Now. *Sips coffee*. Time to figure out if this is what's broken on my Escape`.

    Thank you! I just purchased a 2013 Escape and began feeling the stumbling. I pulled a data log on the boost, and it looked similar to yours. I went to Ford, and they told me it would need a new turbo. I wasn't buying it. Turbo failure is usually a pretty easy diagnosis just by sound. I found your video and ordered both parts. Of course, Ford said it didn't fit, so I told them I won't be returning it if I'm wrong. Easy change-out, and the car drives great. You, my friend, saved me $2k.

    Two years!!!!! Two years of taking my 2013 Ford Escape to the dealership for diagnosis of hesitation under hard acceleration. They were never capable of finding the problem due to no check engine light or trouble codes generated. I come across this video, ordered the parts, picked them up, installed them and guess what??? The Escape is now running like brand new!!!!!
    Can’t thank you enough for this video!!! You were right. They told me the part wouldn’t fit my 2013 Escape 1.6 but it did perfectly fine, and thanks to that I have a 100% working vehicle again. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!!

    Just replaced mine yesterday. Made the problem worse, very little boost unless I hammered the gas. Boost barely went over 4.5 PSI with lower RPM. Pulled it off today, damn thing melted. Figure I didn't centralize the inner seat and boost leak was Continuous, resulting it hot compressed air melting the plastic hat (round top with holes).
    Be sure that you feel it seat the inner ring before you lock it down.

  • @ricardosom7766
    @ricardosom7766 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let me ask, is that part that I need to change then? I have 2014 with eco boost and 1.6l
    It has the engine light on and when I scanned it it says P0299.
    I don’t see any leaks except from motor mount a lil oil leak there.

    • @VortexGarage
      @VortexGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      For the P0299 you want to locate boost leaks more so than oil leaks. You want to be sure the post-turbo air tubing is all tight - all clamps, fittings, and no leaks in the intercooler. If you are able to data log as we did here with Forscan on a smartphone and you see similar data then it is most likely the BPV. The BPV is a common failure, so chances are it's that, but it's hard to say for sure without having checked other potential boost leak areas.

  • @alaanasserbar

    • @VortexGarage
      @VortexGarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes that is almost always the Wastegate solenoid also called the Turbo Boost solenoid. I've put two on this car so far. I think I cover it a bit in this video but otherwise search Ecoboost p0234 and should be plenty of how tos. th-cam.com/video/IXxxvkSF-UI/w-d-xo.html
      The part number for this on the 1.6 Ecoboost for this generation is CJ5Z-9K378-B. Always double check fitment before ordering though.

      @alaanasserbar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VortexGarage Thanks, I’ve watched the other video and it seems doable for me. Hey I just wanted to run this by you and pick your head before I go ahead with the Turbo solenoid... I actually noticed the plastic lid that covers the air filter loose and isn’t bolted down and the air filter is dirty.. I’ve read that this causes engine hesitation which I think I feel it because when I give it gas the engine takes a second to respond. Let me know what are your thoughts on this?

      Are all of the turbo pipes, connectors, intercooler, etc. checking out ok? Sounds like a boost leak but definitely have data to correlate would help ensure that's the case. Hissing sounds can also come via vacuum leaks, evap issues, etc., so hard to diagnose from the keyboard but if you think it's similar to what was in this video first thing I'd do is check all the flexible connectors, hose clamps, and pipes on the turbo piping to the intake manifold
