I have a 2017 Buick Encore. I got a P0299 code last September. I tried all the checks recommended by various mechanics. I came to the conclusion it has a bad turbo - at less than 40,000 miles. I recently received a letter from GM that if the vehicle has a bad turbo before 10 years or 120,000 miles, GM will replace it. It's been at the dealer 3 weeks now. They have determined it's a bad turbo. They're really dragging their feet, but I hope they will replace it. Obviously, GM has lost a lawsuit.
This is literally what I am hoping for our 2018 Encore that is throwing this P0299 code. ONLY because it will be covered then and not something else to pay for. Thanks for the additional bit of hope for Monday's appointment 🤞🏼
@@simoncesABCthey should send you that letter in the mail but considering your 3k miles away from voiding the turbo warranty I'd set up an appointment at your local dealer. They most likely gonna make you pay diagnostics fee between $100-$200. Call and tell them your mechanic said your turbo are bad but he told you they are still under manufacturer warranty...
Hi. Thanks for a great video. Im getting this P0299 only when its minus 10c outside. The car looses power but works. Is there any ways to know why this only happends in the winter? Its all good in summer.
I just had this code after fixing my car for timing chain cover leak. The code came together with P227900 Intake Air System Leak. I can hear the air leaking (loud hissing noise) when paddling above 2.4k rpm. This is not common. Need to further checking with the mechanic tomorrow. The mechanic suspect have issue with the N75 air hose vent. Need to further diagnose. I am driving 2013 Jetta. Thanks for your tutorial.
Easy to check hoses or to clean the intercooler but how do we check if is a bad sensor ? I got this code yesterday on my 2012 hyundai ix35 1.7crdi..it’s raining right now so i couldn’t go and check on it.
My van throws up this code when it’s cold. It has no power then once it’s warm it’s fine and if I reset the code it won’t come up again when the van is already warm? Changed air filter and MAF sensor already
Hello Sir, Thanks for the video. How long can I ride with that code before getting it repaired? All the lights in my dash are on. It's running fine. I can't understand how I got a brake job 3 weeks ago then 2 weeks later all the lights in the dash of my 2022 Honda Accord are on. I have 162k miles on it and have taken good care. Now this trouble. They're telling me it's 2400 to repair it at the dealer. In face all the codes state "see dealer "
Just got this code on my wifes 2018 equinox. I got the P0299 and P0132 Permanent O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 Air filter was pretty dirty, would the P0299 code cause the P0132 code? The car only has 38k miles.
Hi I have a 2013 dodge dart rallye 1.4 turbo I have that code sometimes when I drive I loose power I just pull over turn off the car then turn on and drives like nothing happened it could loose power in less than 2 minutes or I can do a 2 to 8 hours drive with no problem any idea you can think it is

I have a 2022 Chevy Trax that has a po299 code coming on I buy the most expensive oil that I can but then I also bought some oil additive for the turbo pretty brand new turbo it's not making any sounds I don't really seem to be having lots of power I don't know what I could be I do feel like I'm having problems with the wastegate controller that would be fairly hard to push an open and close by hand right
I have a 1.6 tcdi fiesta and I’ve got two codes for turbo been to mechanic three times and still hasn’t been fixed codes are p0299 and p132b-22 also another code p2599-00
Thank you for a great video. I have that code on my 2014 pro master diesel going to be working on it today. Hopefully it will be that waste gate issue.
I have a 2005 T1N 2500 van.. I got this P0299 code. I couldn’t find a leak and also I hear the leak only after I drive for an hour or 2 and then all of a sudden I hear it leak and my turbo don’t kick in. I have to turn on and off my engine and then it works fine for 30 to 40 miles and same thing repeats.. any idea what might be the issue?
@Beast-rz9cd What was the issue specifically? Bad blades? Scratch up housing? Hard to believe the entire turbo needs to be replaced unless you're getting one pulled over your eyes by the mechanic
I've just been to the garage with this code.tells me I need 2 new injectors???on cylinders 2 and 3.gona get it checked at another garage. so far I've changed the air filter, fuel filter map sensor ,cleaned egr valve, and put a very good injector cleaner through the system. van runs a little better but still not right. I don't want to spend 500 buks on injectors if its not the problem and if the injectors snap on there way out .cylinder head will have to come off😬
Yes usually you can diagnose a problem with another code If there is one. As long as they appear close together in on the timeframe that it happened on.
Bro I get that problem too on my Chevy trax 2018 1.4 lit 4cylinder, it will come on for a little bit then turn off for a while, so I assumed it might be sensor related or something with the waste gate
I am receiving error code P0299 in my 2020 1.6 Diesel Opel Insignia vehicle. I can't solve it. Turbo was overhauled, Particle filter was overhauled. Turbo hose changed. But the problem did not go away? Maf sensor and egr valve changed. Please can you help me
Damn I wish all videos were this informative… awesome job brotha
Ya dig
You didn't mention oil feed line that runs under manifold. I heard if you don't change that out it clods and causes turbo to fail
where does the wastegate vacuum line go to mine popped off and i have no clue where it goes.

I had a similar issue but it ended up being a turbo clamp for mine. Replaced it myself and my turbo has been boosting normally
Can low boost pull oil from the corrugated PCV hose to the intak manifold and ON the oil light?

Hey, I have this code in combination with a P0101 code..what action should I take ? Is this a sensor problem when combined with the P0101
They likely are separate issues, but I would clean the MAF sensor, clear the codes, and see if they come back.

What if the engine light turned off but I used scanner and it still came up and that’s the only code

No its common if there are little drops
