    Cam phaser issue simple fix is to hold the gas pedal down while cranking for 3-5 seconds to build oil pressure then take your foot off the gas pedal then it will start with no rattle. Helps the phasers build oil pressure before it starts.

      I’m actually replacing my phasers next week along with timing chains and all that. But with these push starts, do you just hold the gas down for a few seconds and then push start it and let off the pedal? Is that what you’re saying basically

      I blew a hole straight through one of my phasers so be careful cause it can definitely get worse if you don’t get it fixed.

    I had the cam phaser issue on my 2015 Expedition with 3.5 ecoboost. I bought the truck with 150k miles on it and solved the problem by flood starting the engine by holding the gas pedal to the floor and cranking the engine until the oil pressure showed normal. I also switched to Penzoil full synthetic oil with the OEM Motocraft filter and changed the oil every 5k miles. After about 20k miles, the rattle is gone and I no longer flood start the engine.

      How long did you do the flood for ? Every day for a few weeks?

    • @Roy-ij1wq
      @Roy-ij1wq 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@cheizaguirre5494 I set my gauges to display the oil pressure on startup and kept the gas pedal to the floor until the gauge read Pressure OK. I did this for several months but it gradually took less time for the pressure to build. It also built pressure quicker in warm weather. The rattle was pretty much gone by my third 5k oil change. It's been below zero for the past week and the oil pressure is there every time without having to flood start and no rattle.
      If you have a catch can like I do, you also need to be sure to empty it at least every 5k miles when you change the oil. Otherwise it does more harm than good because all that gunk gets recycled in the engine. The can was full when I bought the vehicle and the dealership didn't empty the can when I had them change the oil because it is an aftermarket part and I don't think they knew it needed to be emptied.

    • @Roy-ij1wq

      @@cheizaguirre5494 It may impact the starter. I just had to have mine replaced at 175k miles. My 2007 Expedition with the Triton V-8 went 220k before the starter went out. I think salt and corrosion are bigger factor.

    Great video! Just wanted to clarify that the IWE delete does not leave the truck in 4WD 24/7, it just locks the hubs in 24/7. When the knob is set to 2WD, it also disconnects via the transfer case. Which means that an IWE delete allows the front wheels (as they roll on the ground) to spin the front diff - but the front diff is disconnected from the transmission in this scenario. Meaning if you want to use 4WD, you'd still have to use the knob to engage 4WD, and the the transfer case will activate, connecting the front diff to the transmission. Some people have reported great success from this! Others (specifically with lifts) have reported the pinion bearings failing much sooner than expected on the front diff with IWE deletes.

Maybe if they didn’t become so expensive there’d be worth it, but if ima pay 80k I’m gonna get a v8, forgot to say. Only thing that’s rattling is the skid plate. the 4x4 sound is because that vacuum pulls it out of 4 wheel drive. if you lose vacuum it goes into 4 wheel drive. as they wear out they leak a little and slightly engage and the teeth on the gears is what you hear making noise.

    Nice truck. Just a heads up, the 4x4 switch randomly goes bad. This past weekend mine gave me a locker warning and when I slowed down under 20mph to take a turn the locker came on. Lowes didn't have in stock so had them shipped. Going to try to install them this weekend.
    There is another short where someone made a fix to the wastegate but didn't show how. Commenter's said he tightened up on the adjustment nut (I believe).
    I'm coming from an 09 escalade that had the notorious (but unknown to me until it happened) lifter fail at 153000 miles. I could go on and on about it and add how it could be deleted but ultimately it came down to cost and reliability. Nothing that I've researched gas indicated that theses noises lead to failure. They are just that, noises that can be delt with.

      @@LivinWith3M I know, it's definitely a bummer. Remember when engine life expectancy was 200k+ miles just by changing the oil regularly? Pepperidge Farm remembers. lol
      Hoping some Lucas oil stabilizer will help with the rattle until we make a decision. It's not something I would add to such a new engine under any other circumstances, but I'm hoping a tacky additive will help keep some lubrication inside the offending phaser when the engine's cold. • @LivinWith3M
      @LivinWith3M  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How I did it was just grab a spring you think looks close to that length. Then use your hands and stretch to put it on. You should not need tools like pliers to fit these on. You want it to fit snug but not super tight. If the spring is too tight then you will notice your boost gauge won’t boost like normal. Then go to a looser fitting spring. 👍🏼

    • @LivinWith3M
      @LivinWith3M  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s really hard to say, but I would start with the cheapest remedy first which would be the springs on the wastegates. That’s less than $15 for that fix. If it doesn’t fix it, then I would think it would be the cam phasers vct solenoids.
