When me and my friend is cooking he always says: Dont you think it is enough garlic now? xD
2 cloves of garlic each day is the optimum amount for maximum health benefits. But I often use more.
I think I will make this whit wild rice.
I will try these tomorrow and looking forward to it, from Mansfield uk
Hi
Your videos are simply amazing!
Omg. Made this twice now and it is stellar! Do put the turmeric in the oil for 30 seconds before the broc and red pepper; the flavor improves. Thanks so much!

I made this dish today and it was amazing. I was drawn to it because the ingredients were really easy to get and not anything too expensive. I’m a 21 year old college student trying to add more veggies to my meals! Thank you so much for this. ♥️♥️
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm definitely making this meal for dinner tonight. To think I have all the ingredients at home!!
Awesome simple and looks Delicious ❤
I always different fried rice.
take meat once in a while too. keep up, I was there too.
My mom would make this dish for us whenever we had cold or were sick , with no greens, just garlic, onion and turmeric, since the turmeric helps clear the phlegm and taste is soothing for sick mouth. If you add the turmeric just after garlic and onion are fragrant, it gives a really nice taste.
Now I'm living in a diff country and I miss her . I already called her today, Imma call her again.
Ur a thoughtful daughter.
What a sweetie🥰
You are a really kind person, suggesting to add the tumeric to the oil and not directly to the rice in a very non-aggressive way. Also not disparaging other cultures making a similar dish based on access to ingredients within their locality.
I love your no nonsense approach to cooking. You say only what is needed, no fillers.
Beautiful food, simple and the background music, just enough not overpowering.
Absolutely love rice, your tip about drying it out in the fridge prior to cooking?
Need the broccolini, making this tomorrow. Btw made the lentil soup, delicious 😋

A tip. Add the turmeric before adding the rice. When turmeric touches oil, it just becomes better.
I agree with it as well! If not, it gives very turmeric taste to the rice.

I didn’t mean for you to become my favorite cooking channel, it just happened one month after finding you. You’re very inspiring for this up and coming chef 👩🏻🍳 thank you for sharing. Also I’ve been sick for two days so this timely turmeric dish is on the menu today.
I love your idea to fry the turmeric before adding the rice, the smell will be much better.
The first time I had this dish was in Lebanon, a country known for its amazing gastronomy. The Lebanese use snow peas and thin green beans ( sliced ) instead of broccolini and they use their amazing spices in addition to the turmeric. It’s simply stunning.
Which? The original inhabitants or the genocidal, islamic invaders that committed genocide against them during the 70s?...
I sure will try it ,how about adding some sweet green peas . Thanks for tip .
OKAY I’VE BEEN MAKING THIS THE PAST 3 DAYS ! Boyfriend is obsessed & so is everyone in my household! Instead of broccolini (since people are picky) I used a bunch of scallions. Thanks for sharing these lovely recipes 🙏🏽💗
🥳🥳🥳
Waaow its so delicious im going to try this today
This looks lovely. Indeed a great recipe however a tiny suggestion - Add turmeric directly to the hot oil so it won't give the raw turmeric taste which often isn't that nice. Try that 😊
I always cook my turmeric not fry it, in indian cuisine they have 2 steps of adding spice. First the fried spices and then, after the onions, ginger-garlic paste, and tomatoes you add turmeric, red chili and koriander powder. Hence I cook it cause when it comes to spices I follow the masters haha.
Will try the fry method tho, see what it gives :)
Agree
Agreed I don’t like either when it tastes raw😩
Monica dear, I am using turmeric for fifty years in my cooking never use it directly on rice Maybe when you sauté meat put on it . You are right it should be put on frying oil better yet when you frying your onion or Garlic.
@Andre Autry: Yes you can use it either ways. Just keep the flame really slow so it doesn't get burnt 😊
very close to what we make for the breakfast here in India.
Please try this and show it to your viewers. they would love this recipe-
oil. heat. cumin seeds. a pinch of asafoetida. chopped onions. peanuts. saute till golden.
add leftover rice. saute.
add pinch turmeric powder, a teaspoon of chilli powder, pinch of sugar and salt to taste.
coriander for the seasoning and a dash of lemon juice.
steam it for 5 mins on low seam. please let me know how was it below!
(Lemon juice works even better if the dish is slightly more salty and spicy.)
Yes I will try this recipe. Thank you for sharing 🙏😊
@@janinemcdonnell9221 trust me you will not be disappointed. just be a little careful with turmeric. leaves a very strong flavor. rest all should be okay. have a good one. :)
I'll try it.
Nice, but I'd skip the sugar. Thanks.
@@dineshpitre8146 thought the same .how can u add 1 teaspoon of turmeric by the end isn’t it going to be too strong ?
I replaced the Broccolini with green peas and the rice with noodles. My children loved it! 😋👍🏻

Just tried this and am simply blown away by all the natural delicious flavors of everything! I'm used to using so much spices to give it that yummy flavour, and then you tend to forget the natural flavors are also amazing. Thank you!
I just made this. I love it. Frying the garlic and onions for long enough makes so much difference. Turns out I haven't been frying my garlic and onions right all along. I love how quick this is. Thanks!
This rice dish is amazing!!! I had all the ingredients, so I decided to make it. I notice that Wil uses broccolini often in his recipes, so every time I go to the grocery store, I make sure to pick some up because I always think to myself: “What if I want to make one of Wil’s recipes this week and I don’t have any broccolini?” 😂.

I have never seen broccolinis anywhere.. Always have to use normal broccolis.. Shame shame xD

Made this tonight and came out delicious! I added some finely chopped broccoli and green peas. Garnished with chopped cilantro leaves and served with some halal cart inspired chicken. Yum! Thank you for the recipe!
Hi Wil, in Indonesia these kind of dishes are called Nasi Goreng (fried rice) & we have them mostly in the morning as mums use left over rice. But at night nasi goreng is a popular comfort food people have for supper at street food warungs (food stalls). Greetings from Indonesia from me who used to live in Hong Kong, so "lay ho ma" always brings back my sweet memories when I was there.
That rice looks fabulous. The turmeric adds such a lovely color and all those vegetables are not only great for flavor but color, too.
You’re presentation and explanation on “how to “is the best I have ever seen !!
You had me at 7 cloves of garlic 😋

Vegetable dishes or fried rice of any sort use to be considered sides to me. But I am now preparing them (using your expert techniques) as one of the main attractions for all my family dinners.
🥳🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
How do you get protein, though? I was wondering what vegetarian protein to serve with this, as I would be hungry again in two hours.
@@emmel4fun Tofu, potatoes, chickpeas, certain vegetables, variety of beans, quinoa, nuts, seeds. Use them in rice, pasta, noodles, salads, etc. in place of meat.
@@kimberlykay1614 I don't think potatoes count as a protein. They're more like a starch like rice is.
@@emmel4fun They are lower in protein, yes, but regardless if you say you get hungry in two hours, they can be delicious prepared in so many different ways, anyhow. Lol. Cheers. 🍷
This dish looks very similar to a rice dish that I love, instead of those vegetables that you used, I used carrots and when I cook my rice I cook the rice with the tumeric so the tumeric is already added when you get to the frying stage. I call my recipe carrot rice, I also add ginger when I cook the garlic and onions. Your recipe also looks delicious.
I'm fairly new to cooking and I just made this, was delicious. I love how you make the process very simple I definitely need that. Thank you my good sir!!
In India, we add sauteed seasonal local veggies like carrots, beans and bell peppers and in place of corn we use peas...a few granules of sugar to bring out the taste... Lovely recipe. Thanks for sharing. In some parts of the country they even add a tempering of mustard and curry leaves. I prefer with a dash of chopped coriander leaves. 🙂
Just found your channel. Been vegan for a little over a year now and love this style of food. Thanks for the recipes! Also love the Gordon Ramsay style of video as well as your catch phrase about cooking with confidence.

Hello Wil Yeung, I tried this recipe yesterday and it was delicious!! My mother suffers from hiatus hernia that causes heartburn, I tried this for her sake, and not only did she love it but she also didn't suffer from heartburn after eating. Well done!! and thank you!!!🙏
Love your cooking which doesn't have a ton of ingredients. I would love to have more recipes that helps with inflammation because I have so much and am starting a whole change in my diet. My mom had to feed 8 people and she would make wonderful dishes out of a little of nothing in order to stretch her budget. They were always so good and these remind of our family meals. Thanks for your awesome and interesting videos and for giving me a head start to go plant based! Blessed
I’ve made this 5 times now. I love it, and it’s pretty to look at too. Beautiful colors. The first two times I used collard greens instead of broccolini, slicing the leaves into small, uniform pieces. It’s a really good alternative.
I’m looking forward to making the chili oil for the Chili Garlic Fried Rice. Very excited to try that one!
🥳🥳🥳
I would prefer using fresh turmeric.
😋 Wow! Garlic + Tumeric are already extremely HEALTHY spices. 😊 Great idea! 👍🏽
👨🏻🍳🙌🏻
Oh, my yumminess! This is super quick and easy. Thank you! My family loves it.
Had this tonight! Doubled the garlic (can’t help myself), tripled the turmeric, added raisins, fresh diced apple (i.e., not cooked), extra firm tofu, and “Lebanon Valley Meat Shawerma Spices” (no meat): a muted mix of all spice, black pepper, coriander, ginger, dry lemon, cinnamon, cardamom, and paprika. Was amazing! Thanks, Will!
🤤
I'm just so happy I found a channel with gentle music since I'm hard of hearing and loud noises rattle me badly (all the sound filters in through one ear so it's extremely overwhelming). Also...SIMPLE! Subbing and super happy. Will be trying this out!

Thanks for sharing your recipe. Your Yellow Rice must be yummy. I love Yellow Rice as well. Yellow Rice is also one of Indonesian dishes. We cooked the white rice (Basmati Rice) in the rice cooker with a little bit water, coconut milk, crushed garlic, turmeric powder, chopped lemon grass, bay leaves, pandan leaves and a little bit mushroom flavoring. Just made this for lunch. Loved it more and more with each bite. This is outstanding! I left out the corn and added as little more red pepper. This will be a staple dish in my house. Thank you so much for demonstrating this recipe!
Or, if you're feeling exceptionally lazy like I do sometimes, swap the fresh veggies for frozen ones. I recommend a mix like green peas, carrots, corn and green beans.

I made this dish the other day and it came out delicious and I use black rice and I enjoy it. I use regular broccoli for this dish and it came out good. Thank You
Excellent Simple Recipe !! Only adjustment I would make is to add turmeric with the Onion Garlic mix and cook it for a few minutes and then add that to the broccoli and Corn.

The oil should retain the flavors.
@@sunrae7680 oh that’s why then, I usually cut the oil quantities in half and add broth if more moisture is needed. I like the tip I watched in a different video about seasoning during every stage. I think that makes it so flavorful

Stayed up till 4 am making several meals of this, for my son who lives separately from me, and has covid. He has to isolate for 7 days and hence cant go out and buy anything at the supermarket. It ended up looking just as good as on the video. Think I will add a stock cube next time for some extra flavor. My son enjoyed it. Thank you.
Thanks so much Wil.
Wow, This has to be the best dish we have ever experienced.
The flavor of each ingredient blend perfectly together with the taste of none of them being lost or overpowering.
After the first time we made it, we ended up fixing it three times that week
Prepared this dish today. It was very tasty. Thank you so much for the awesome recipes ☺️
This looks great 😋 I love the idea of adding in the extra crispy rice 🍚 😍
But I think after you've added everything to the plain rice, and then mixed....then that's when you should add the crispy rice separate/last for Best Results!!💯🧡
I am not a fan of Turmeric, but I have to say that dish looks delicious. 😋 I love how you incorporate broccolini into your dishes. I definitely will have to give broccolini a try, I always cook with the regular size broccoli.
It definitely is a treat to cook with, however all good to use broccoli if that’s what you have on hand 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳🥦
If you can't get broccolini, I bet this recipe would be great substituting bok choy as the green vegetable.
Stephanie, try ordinary curry powder, I like the flavour but is is not so visually stunning, make sure you cook it in the oil for a few minutes with the onions before you add the rice use half the amount as the turmeric is not so spicy, you could add a pinch of turmeric for colour,.
I add a hand full of frozen pease at the end they just need to be thawed out in the rice mix they taste so fresh that way.!
We made this rice and it was AWESOME. Just great! It is now a part of your "menu". Thank you!
