So incredibly touching. How much fight and sacrifice & growing so fast this man has experienced. And he's now a Grammy winner.

Seth has a rare gift of distilling strength and depth from challenging life circumstance... And sharing that through his art.

I have been following Seth's career for a long time, but have never heard his whole story. I just recognized a depth in his work that was unusual for someone so young. I will treasure the lessons learned from his TED talk. Bravo, Seth!

Seth, we are HUGE fans of yours having heard you sing in and around the Boston area for the past two years. We've heard you tell this story about your brother and family on several occasions but was truly moved to tears by your retelling it with this important message for all of us.

Seth is an extraordinary musician, story teller and human being. It's no surprise that he's also an extraordinary brother. Go see him in concert if you get the chance. You'll be glad you did.

I had the opportunity to hear Seth twice when he toured through the midwest (Des Moines) a few years ago. An amazing talented individual who can tell great stories through music. Here he continues to excel again through this story and another forum. He has a rare talent to see and hear the world around him and bring a message on to others with vividness, clarity and and a strength of emotion that goes deeper in the stories of life. Thanks for sharing!

I first "met" Seth and his music through Crystal Bowersox and immediately loved not only his sound but more importantly the messages in his music. They make you think and feel....and move you in a way that touches your heart. This talk puts the "stamp" on all of that -- thanks for sharing your story Seth, Jamie's story.

Seth, what an amazing TED talk. Reflective, insightful and full of love. Loved the Bruce Cockburn line, his work has spoken to me for years. What a wonderful tribute to love, learning, growth and communication verbal and otherwise.

I got the chance to see Seth on winter 2012 at Club Passim and since then I became a huge fan and you have new fans here in Brazil. Seth is a great artist with great generosity, compassion and love. He has so much to say to the world! Awesome talk.

Seth - I first saw you years ago at One Longfellow Square when you were an unknown (to me) opener for one my favorite singer songwriters (Your set blew him out of the water, by the way.). Since then, I've heard you talk about your brother many times at many shows, and heard this song many times (live and recorded), and I want you to know that THIS telling and THIS singing of your life story is AMAZING. Here's to the hard and terrifying things we do that bring beauty to the world. Thank you!!

Seth I am sorry to hear about your brothers death for your sake and the sake of your family. But I am thankful the Lord has chosen to take him home where he no longer deals with the problems he dealt with here on earth. I don't know if you have ever read any of the books written by folks who have been to heaven and been sent back to witness to their visit but I suggest you read one. You will see how well things are for your brother now. I still remember you from St. Paul's Lutheran Church when you sang in the choir. You were just a little bit of a child but your voice was like that of a grown man. I remember the hug you gave me in the PO many years later and seeing you perform in Greenfield at the Energy Park. God's blessings Seth. You have weathered the life God gave you well and learned the lessons he intended for you to learn.

Seth you're amazing. Saw you in Charlemont many years ago, in Greenfield and South Hadley last year and we'll see you in St. Pete this March 4th. BTW, Joe and Marc are such a good fit!

@Susan McConnell - The video was posted by TEDx Talks, not Seth so I don't think Seth can be blamed if the other two musicians were not identified. I do agree that it would have been courteous to include their names in the description of the video. Seth did introduce them by first name when they joined him on stage. Very inspiring talk! We all need to practice gratitude. (Gratitude is a practice, not an attitude.) 😊

Might wanna consider crediting the artists you are quoting. Bad form not to.

+Susan McConnell I disagree. I happens all the time. If every artist footnoted their sources, we'd have very little time for actual music.

+Suzanne Cadgene Lots of crappy things happen all the time, that doesn't make them right. In an audience where many people have no idea who someone like David Wilcox is, not crediting him is bad form, especially coming from another songwriter.

Worked with this guy. Super pretentious, massive ego for someone who's career was middling at best, still super hard to work with, if given the opportunity and thinks he can get away with it will take credit for work they didn't do. Oh and had some substance abuse that the backing band had to make for and adjust to for gigs (coke). Bit of a womanizer too.
