You can cancel head crusher during the running animation with no stamina use if I recall (the forward dash heavy if anyone forgot), so long as Zerk is not airborne. I only use it for reaching far away/running opponents whilst in lock-on. I will only commit to the move if I think the enemy messed up their roll away/another team mate baiting their roll during chase. Otherwise it is often not a safe move to do, only use it for range but that's to your discretion. Also using head crusher can actually interrupt team mate's executions if they're sandwiched between you and the enemy. In fact it can interfere with many moves in your way, so use it carefully in team fights. Another cheeky thing you can do is side heavy finishers inbetween 2 opponents, so long as you target the one furthest. This is to make sure the one sandwiched doesn't get external block indicators. They will eat your unblockable if they don't get out of your face. Excellent in team fights where there is so much going on. It's like raider doing his chain unblockable then locking on to another for AoE, but this one can only be performed to one person and can only be done with side heavies. Top unblockable does not work and positioning is key. Also I'm not sure but spin chop can externally attack enemies in your way. Top unblockable feint can be delayed as well for parry baiting.

Close Combat makes so much sense and it's so useful especially with the front and back zones. The former dealing damage and basically pinning the opponent with hitstun and the latter hitting the opponent and knocking them out of their own attack all the while gaining distance between you and them.
It's a great mechanic, it basically means that Berserker controls the pace of the fight, particularly when at high health. The backwards zone really only stops feint to GB attempts though and Berserker likes to be in the opponents face. The potential applications of close combat are numerous honestly and it's something all Zerk players should practice using.

I've pinned a comment with some helpful tips. The best I can offer is practice practice practice! Zerk has so much at his/her disposal that you'll be able to mix up anyone, even Zerk has to play it safe though, don't take unnecessary risks and watch that health!
The only heavy he can't feint is his forward dodge heavy. As for your aggressive-ness mix up your pattern of where you throw lights and heavies and where you feint. Also, be very careful about managing your stamina! Since you'll be throwing feints out left and right it might only take 1 or 2 parries to put you out of stamina. As another tip, if you're struggling from neutral, put your guard to your left and zone. Since zones have a fixed side and his is on the right, it should be a good way to open up. Assuming you have stamina.
Parrying all those light attacks for the vid must've made you a good player. That early gameplay was awesome af. Does the chain heavies have gb invulnerability window?
It's easy to parry lights when you're expecting them! Thank you. You know think they're GB invulnerable after so many ms but I don't know the exact value.
I think the standard guardbreak vulnerability for most characters is 300ms. Aramusha's is 100ms and I think Cent's depends on how long he charges it up but treat him like an Aramusha and don't guardbreak to be safe since his can come out so fast.
Anyone got any tips of how to get quicker with blocking attacks, cus I always seem to react really slowly to attacks and then get a load of attack chains continuously hitting me
Best advice I can give is to try not parry too much. If you're blocking with the intent of Parrying you will lose your guard and get hit. Make sure your dead zone is at zero if you're playing with a controller too. Other than that reaction times are based upon your concentration, hydration and whether or not you're sleeping enough. Might sound silly but playing the game tired compared to well rested is a different story entirely.
@@Mattman_90 Or just use Hitokiri and spam them guardbreak feints, mix it up with a spicy touch of heavy to kick to heavy attack, and end it up with a good old rub of lights. Yeh. Summaried the entire thing 😊

I'm pleased you watch the video! Though I'm afraid I must disagree regarding Shinobi's deflect. Shinobi's deflect while able to bypass armour chains like Zerk is good but it activates automatically and uses stamina, because of this you can actually put yourself out of stamina accidentally potentially leading to your death.
@@Mattman_90 I fell like the 53 damage is work the risk, also that's extremely rare I have played shinobi quite a bit and this never happened I totally here what you're saying but the positives outweigh the negatives by a long shot in my opinion, also it looks cooler

Does anyone have any tips for fighting berserker he is the most broken disgusting hero in the game and he is the only character I have consistent trouble facing.
Berserker is certainly strong, one of the better designed heroes and he isn't broken. The problem unfortunately lies within the mechanics of the game, your time fighting Berserker will differ depending on your hero choice. Hyper armour is beaten by bashes. Some all guard hero's can have an easier time if they can get good timing down. Fighting Berserker is about making reads and trying to wear him down. He spends a lot of stamina feinting and trying to cause reactions so your best time to attack is when his stamina his low, he'll want to keep his distance then. Try to look for patterns with Berserker and make a good block or parry, just be wary if you have a soft feint to GB option as his zone can option select it, although that can be baited and punished. Sadly not all heroes have an easier time against him, the best advice I can offer is try playing him yourself for a while and see how people counter you. It helps.
@@Mattman_90 I main pk I have no bashes I can't interrupt and zerk is most certainly broken, heavies that are too powerful for his class an infinite chain hyper armour all the time and a GB out of deflect is just gross.
@@randallrenfert I also main PK so much respect there friend! I'm quite fine with Zerks deflect, deflects should be powerful and I say that knowing PK has one of the weaker ones. PK doesn't like the match up and she can't deflect him, she needs to choose her moments to strike with Zerk and try to bait out those side dodge lights that are parry bait. I agree that his heavies are too high in damage however he needs good damage to justify a trade, this is why I believe his opener heavies should be lower damage and the heavies that are harder for Zerk to access like Bear mauler 2nd/3rd hit should have higher damage.
Thank you. 🙂 Berserker hasn't changed, the most recent patch made 'Skilled Slash' easier to perform but I think that's it. Nerf to fire flask feat too.
Shaman is the better ganker and has a better dodge attack, Zerk is probably the better hero though, armour and easier time confirming lights and better overall pressure.
Mack Prime i was not asked, but i don't care. Zerk is currently the best assassin in duels. Insane pressure and correct defence make him really good. Shaman on the other side has one of the best offence in the game if not the best. She can just flicker the bash and have no consequence with the right distance. She does lack some safeness, but you can do some really good things if you play around the bash only
One of the most annoying characters to fight. Just faced a squad of four of them. The best part is on console its near to impossible to stop a really good berserker.
Zerk has the strongest attacks out of all assassin's a free guard break on deflect, some of the fastest lights in the game and hyper armour on every single button press, I'm convinced that anyone that mains zerker just doesn't want to have to try while playing.
Zerk's deflect is very strong no arguments there. His chain lights are on par with most assassin chain lights and from neutral he has to feint first to access quicker lights. Armour only occurs on a feint too from neutral but a lot of Zerks moves do have armour. They can only really use that armour if they have high hp though.
@@Mattman_90 against any other assassin zerk come out on top due to the fact that you can't interrupt him once he starts his chains, HA on lights and feints needs to be taken away
@@randallrenfert Well I don't play Zerk often but I know it's frustrating, if you remove it though he loses a valuable part of his offensive presence. I think a more risk/reward aspect would be better, such as multiple feints using up more stamina. I do believe he needs a damage nerf on some heavies though, top heavy unblockable and neutral side heavy could do with their numbers being reduced. The reward is too high for little risk.
zerker is jokingly easy to use for how strong she is. when a character doesn't have an opener and is still an S tier... there might be a problem. why she gets HA on her feinted lights is beyond me not to mention she has one of if not the best deflect in the game. i'm not one to shout nerf this and nerf that but zerker definitely needs to be toned down a bit. it's a guessing game with where i have to parry that unreactable delayed feinted light with HA for some reason. sorry i wanted to rant after i've been getting my shit kicked in on console.
You're quite welcome to rant here if you wish. Berserker does have quite a high skill ceiling despite the advantages the character has. Feinted lights are basically Zerks openers, they are quicker than neutral lights and of course have armour. I'm not to sure how one would nerf Zerk to be honest or even if the hero needs one, feinted lights damage was reduced and Zerk does have two bad moves in the kit. Neutral top light and backwards zone. Still Zerk can be very oppressive to fight and it is match up dependant. Some heroes have a much easier time against Zerk than others do, but that's down to the nature of bashes beating out armour.
I’ll give you the best beserker tip spam light heavy cancel light bam that is all you need to know there is no more to beserker unless you can deflect them good for you
That will certainly work for those inexperienced at fighting Berserker but using that over and over will just make you predictable at high level play. Still viable though, just not consistently repeatable in my opinion.
@@connorh1678 My guides I suppose aren't really showcasing strategy as mix ups don't always work on the same opponents but more a a case of showing what's available to you as this character and how best to punish your opponent in whatever situation you find yourself in.
Best thing to do is practice. Berserker is strong but quite a complex hero and does require focus to use correctly. You can always try a few matches against Bots until you feel comfortable with the moveset before jumping back into PVP.
People cry about a lot of heroes. Zerk is certainly strong but I wouldn't say overpowered. Either way learning what Zerk can do is one step closer to being able to fight them better.

This may be the case if Berserkers Brute Force is delayed but on a buffered input Zerks deflect takes priority and isn't interrupted.
How did you enabled that meter that shows the safe space for counter attack?
In the training arena, pause the game and select arena settings, under the arena tab there's a box you can tick called 'Opponent Timing Feedback'.

Any additionnal tips for Berserk ? I feel like a too offensive with him and some heavy can’t be feinted i don’t know Why
@@demonwolf570Good advice. 👍
Early. Also thx for the guide man.
Thank you, hope the video is helpful for you. 🙂
@@demonwolf570 Gladiator and Conqueror are 100ms and Raider is 400ms.
@@Mattman_90 Oh yeah, I forgot about Conqueror but I didn't know Glad had it too.
@@demonwolf570 wow, only 100ms vulnerability...im letting my heavies go as ara and glad then :D
Loved this keep it up

Shinobi's deflect is much better than zerks, but I watch this video like once every month and have only just said this now so yeah...

I just picked up this hero I'm rep 2, and I know this tutorial is 5 months old but is it still the same now? And thanks for this I've *SUBBED* 👍👍👍👍

Quick, who do you think is better? Berserker or Shaman
She does lack some safeness, but you can do some really good things if you play around the bash only
Zacha Riz I don’t mind, I’ll accept all opinions
One of the most annoying characters to fight. Just faced a squad of four of them. The best part is on console its near to impossible to stop a really good berserker.
Zerk can be a frustrating opponent, especially if they get their momentum going. A 4-man zerk squad does sound like a daunting match.
The reward is too high for little risk.
extremly useful video. Im gonna start learning berserker now. ^^
Thanks! Let me know how you get on! 🙂
zerker is jokingly easy to use for how strong she is. when a character doesn't have an opener and is still an S tier... there might be a problem. why she gets HA on her feinted lights is beyond me not to mention she has one of if not the best deflect in the game. i'm not one to shout nerf this and nerf that but zerker definitely needs to be toned down a bit. it's a guessing game with where i have to parry that unreactable delayed feinted light with HA for some reason.
sorry i wanted to rant after i've been getting my shit kicked in on console.
Miss this damage
I don't. 😂
@@Mattman_90 😂😂
I’ll give you the best beserker tip spam light heavy cancel light bam that is all you need to know there is no more to beserker unless you can deflect them good for you
That will certainly work for those inexperienced at fighting Berserker but using that over and over will just make you predictable at high level play. Still viable though, just not consistently repeatable in my opinion.
MightyMattman90 I agree, what I said is just what most people do I hope they listen to this guide and put it to use
I have a rep 10 beserker and I couldn’t agree more with what you showed I use most of the techniques
@@connorh1678 My guides I suppose aren't really showcasing strategy as mix ups don't always work on the same opponents but more a a case of showing what's available to you as this character and how best to punish your opponent in whatever situation you find yourself in.
You put Berserker against a PK bot. Ironic because PK vs Berserker is a sad matchup for the PK.
It is, PK doesn't like any match up with armour. Zerk typically does have the advantage in that match up.
Really wish any of this made sense to me. Just gonna have to get my ass whooped until I get the hang of it I suppose.
Best thing to do is practice. Berserker is strong but quite a complex hero and does require focus to use correctly. You can always try a few matches against Bots until you feel comfortable with the moveset before jumping back into PVP.
I did this just to find out his zone attack
Just don't use the backwards one. It's kinda useless. :)
@@Mattman_90 yeah it’s only good if you do it as soon as a shaman tries to pounce
