    This one took over 100 hours of work over the last several years to curate and put together - as I'm sure I missed MANY of the best places in the bubble and galaxy I look forward to hearing your favorites for a version 2 - please do be specific and share the system for whatever you list.

      One of the sights you can add to The list is being at the very top or bottom of the Galaxy at the center. I did that not too long ago when I went to Sag A. I just went straight up for as far as I could and I just looked down on the whole galaxy. It was an amazing sight

    Watching this video is an absolute thrill. Without doubt its the best video of its kind. If this doesn't inspire new gamers to Elite Dangerous then nothing else will. Us 'old timers', with thousands of ingame hours, still have so much to see. The Elite Galaxy certainly provides a wealth of opportunity to discover strange new worlds, new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no-one has gone before.

    If anyone ever mentions "places to go in Elite" I immediately start talking about Spoihaae XE-X d2-9 A 1, the landable HMC that dives straight through the jet cone and exclusion zone of a white dwarf. Mitterand Hollow is neat but have you ever seen a gravitational lens rise over the horizon and swallow the sky?

      @@Exigeous I spent a few orbits on the surface when I visited so I can say the real trick to that planet is that it isn't tidally locked, so you have to plan ahead to be in the right spot to have the star go over you at its closest approach.

  • @themechanist7875
    @themechanist7875 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Some more places that are a must see in my opinion;
    - HIP 38064: a system of binary ringed planets in very close orbit to an O-class star. One of the planets is landable so there's opportunity to look into a spectacular sunset with a ringed planet in front of the star.
    - The Spirograph nebula: a bright green planetary nebula with lagrange clouds in the system, including one inside an astroid ring.
    - The Crab nebula: a uniquely coloured nebula that contains a system that has an astroid station.
    - DRYAU AUSMS KG-Y E3390: an incredible star system with a gas giant in EXTREME close orbit to a white dwarf that has landable binary moons also in extreme close orbit to eachother, making for some of the most spectacular views I have seen in ED so far.
    - The Veil West nebula: there are no systems inside of it but you can get very close to it. A unique and beautifully bright blue coloured nebula.
    - The Bubble nebula: again no systems inside, you can only get close to it. A perfectly bubble shaped nebula with a bright pink/purple colour that looks like no other nebula.

    My favorite system that I've found is Croomoi AA-A H82. It consists of a Wolf Rayet star right next to an O-type, and further away a B-type supergiant.
    The B-type is by far the largest, 2,000ls in diameter, but is actually the least massive, at around 45 solar masses. The Wolf Rayet star is six times the larger than the sun, and has an astounding mass of 120 solar masses. It's dwarfed by the O-type, which is around 225 solar radii. And yet, being only 50 solar masses, it practically orbits the Wolf Rayet. It makes you realize just how much the density of stars varies.
    The best part, though? On the system map, the three stars are stacked smallest to largest, making an adorable stellar snowman. It is, however, pretty far from Sol. It's around 3,000ly from Sag A*. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area, though.

    Mic Turner's Base only qualifies as *Planetary Outpost* and as such is smaller then the ringed *Planetary Ports* .
    For the Station interiors where you want to see the Palm Trees and overall clean looks you need to check the Galaxy for places that sport the *Service* economy. A special one to visit is *Greeboski's Outpost* in the Phiagre System. It was changed, Exterior and Interior, several years ago through winning a CG. The Station itself is a *Industrial* economy but sports Service interior, and two external Habitat rings that weren't originally there.
    Phiagre is one of the few Systems in Elite that can be changed manually by FD.

Considering it came out in 2014 and even before then I was always looking for great space based games I didn't even find out it existed until 2020. It is quite a lot to learn at first but tbh it felt extremely accurate in terms of being a fresh pilot heading out into space in your first ship. It took a lot of control tweaks before I stopped spinning out of control. But thanks to the mouse re-centering it made flight a lot easier.

    I have this game. The learning curve was a bit rough right at the start but not that bad. My problem with it was after a week I had the hang of it and got serious. I have my Anaconda in about 2 days and had 3/4th of the engineering done in another 2. After that I traveled around for another week or so and then I was bored. Other than going out and seeing another systems over and over there just isn't enough to do. Making money is easy, farming materials for engineering is easy. Getting you ship to jump 40 to 50 light years at a go is easy. But going into systems, mapping it out and checking out planets gets really boring after a couple hundred of them. It's sad because it really is a amazing game, but I can't bring myself to reinstall it again and remember what buttons do what.

Sounds like im watching one of those early 2000 videos where they try to sell you some kids toys, sounds like you made it super kid friendly. I would’ve put some epic opera like some halo type sound track or some cyber punk techno. Some interstellar type music. Many good options but no. You could’ve even throw some country music and that would’ve sounded more immersive and better lmao sorry for hating but that bothers me a lot. Wish I had the money, knowledge, and time to do these videos. I would make it epic

    I see people say how hard it is to land on certain moons or planets and i dont think any of those people have ever seen or tried to land on Midderand Hollow. If you can land there, everywhere else becomes a cake walk in my opinion.

      @@Exigeous I felt vertigo because of the speed and proximity of the two bodies, the view is awesome, but that vertigo feeling was the creepy part. It was the first time I ever got vertigo in VR. And the first time trying to land ever legitimately frightened me. I wasn't man enough Lol. But i managed to land. My ship is still there, haven't had the guts yet to go back and get off that ride. Definitely an experience!

      Agreed, they are rather cool - sadly it seems most are on the dark side of planets so it's really hard to enjoy them but I do love that they are all unique and hand made. Also a big fan of the "robot" voice for flight control.

    • @BradleyMountford
      @BradleyMountford 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I looked closer at the video and noticed that the planet in the background is Jupiter so while Exigeous says "Ariel" it clearly cannot be. I looked at the system map and found that the only planet around Jupiter with volcanism is Europa. I went there and found the geysers at geo 5...there are probably more. Driving into these is great fun as they launched me about 3km above the surface. Took about 50% damage coming back down even trying to strategically slow my descent.
