      Hi I just recently started watching, and subscribing to your Channel. I'm fairly new to properly taking care of my vehicle and had a few questions. I don't know if they're outlined in another video or not, but as a new car care enthusiastic what is the importance of the water beading? In my uneducated opinion the beating looks poorer than the other two products that seemed to drive the water off of the vehicle so that it does not cause additional UV damage from sitting water.
      If you have a video that explains what to look for and why certain things are damaging to a vehicle I would be interested to watch that as well.

      It doesn't last as long, because I've tried it. And he did it wrong because meguire needs initial application and then second application with rinse. I think Mother's CMX needs that too. From experience, CMX lasts the longest. Meguires lasts about 2 months-3months. CMX about 3-4months.

      I've been using The blue bottle of turtle wax ice for about 6 years. Great product. 1 thing to keep in mind if you have small imperfections in your finish. swirl marks light scratches ect. use a buffer or compound wax to remove those flaws 1st. These protects will not correct those problems.These do not chemically bond to the clear coat. Think of it as cling wrap that you'd cover leftovers with. But here your protecting the clear coat with a thin protective layer.If you come into contact with heavy brine "Road Salt"you get that white film remove it immediately even if its -20 get it washed off. It can actually leach thru this protective layer and set between this and on your clear coat. It can cause heavy damage to cars finish in a very short amount of time. Just a heads up to save some head aches...

And, I have been very pleased with the results and long lasting level of protection they provide. I just recently purchased the Ice Seal and Shine. I used it on my two month old 2019 white Chrysler Pacifica. Not only is there a high level of shine, it’s the slickest, smoothest finish I’ve ever felt. Glad to see the experts results show that I picked the right product.

    I’ve been using cmx since it came out. The product works exactly as advertised. Water beads well and lasts. I also follow the instructions on the bottle to the letter. No where on the bottle does it say to apply the product and then Immediately wash it off with a cleaning solution. If that was a high alkaline based cleaner the ceramic would be especially compromised. It needs some time to bond. Generally I would give ANY ceramic coating 24hours before doing a test like this. Not to mention it was cleaned off immediately after application. Although a good test I would give the ceramics 24 hours before testing.

In my experience, my treated cars last a decent amount of time as long as I dont park it in the sun, I haven't found a sealant/wax that can last the high temp the paint reaches in a couple of hours in direct sun light in the summer, even freshly applied sealants disappear when the paint gets too hot. faxmen09 not really. Nothing against Pan but the Megs HCW has held much better in other channel comparisons. My guess is that it was over applied and the surfactants/carrier ingredients weren’t rinsed away from the foundation layer till after the APC was already used on it.

    • @faxmen09
      @faxmen09 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steve9377 Operative words, "My guess" In other words, you have no evidence to back your claim. And your comment proof of my comment to Pan. Thanks for confirmation. Fanboys can't help themselves.

    • @steve9377
      @steve9377 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      faxmen09 it has to be a guess because I’m not a chemist nor do I make the product. I can only go by what the product specialists at Meguiars say. Here is some info from Michael Stoops from meguiarsonline.com:
      “Here's what you should do for the very first application of HCW, especially if you don't have a really strong layer of protection on the paint to begin with.
      "Foundation Layer"
      Wash the vehicle with your normal process, rinse thoroughly but leave wet
      Spray no more than 2 trigger pulls of product onto a panel - 3 for a large panel such as the hood of a large vehicle, roof, etc.
      Dry with a quality microfiber drying towel
      Done
      If, on the other hand, you have really nice water beading from a previous, fresh wax application or you've already done the foundation layer as described above, then do this:
      "Standard Application"
      Wash the vehicle with your normal process, rinse thoroughly but leave wet
      Spray no more than 2 trigger pulls of product onto a panel - 3 for a large panel such as the hood of a large vehicle, roof, etc.
      Rinse thoroughly with a strong stream of water. A pressure washer works great, but lacking same the best approach is to use a variable setting nozzle on your garden hose and select the flat fan spray pattern. Trust me here, it's the best choice of all the settings on the nozzle for this. We've tested more dang nozzles than I care to remember.
      Dry with a quality microfiber drying towel
      Done
      Now, if you're a regular here on MOL I'm guessing you're an enthusiast, or downright Car Crazy. Good for you. That means you might even want to do both of the above process in rapid succession. Yep, do the "foundation layer" process, then get the car wet and do the "standard application" process immediately. If you do this, especially on a non metallic black vehicle, you may see a very slight bit of streaking when you do the drying step of the foundation layer. Don't stress, don't fight it, don't do anything. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Just move on to the standard application process and you'll love the incredible slickness when you dry with a clean, dry towel. It's pretty crazy. And you'll see even tighter water beading immediately.
      There are basically two ways you can go wrong with this product:
      1. Over apply the product. Just go nuts spraying the car down with that lovely blue elixir. Lay it on super thick. You really want that protection!!!!
      STOP IT!!!
      That is NOT going to help you at all. In fact, it will make life much, much harder and you may end not liking a really awesome product! Why? Because you probably won't rinse off all of the carrier ingredients, which are actually highly hydrophillic - it loves water and will attract rather than repel it. So you end up with really lousy beading, and possibly a fair bit of streaking. True story - a friend of mine in Northern California applied HCW to his car and called me with this very complaint. I told him he probably overused the product. He admitted to using half the bottle on one car. I told him that was probably enough for 6 or 7 cars. He fell silent. He then asked how to fix it. I told him to wash the car with his regular car wash and everything would be fine, no need to even reapply the product. He said it was going to rain soon so he thought washing the car was a waste of time. I said "great!", let the car sit in the rain. That will wash off the last of the carrier ingredients, the beading will come up beautifully, and the streaking will be gone. He called me back that night and said it worked just as I said it would. Well, duh.
      2. Skip the foundation layer if the car has zero protection and water lays on the paint in a great big, non moving sheet. Just spray a little bit of HCW into that deep pool of water and rinse it off.
      STOP IT!!!
      That is NOT going to help you at all. A huge sheet of water on the paint won't let the active ingredients get to the paint. Those hydrophillic carrier ingredients will basically form a layer between the active ingredients and that huge sheet of water on the paint, so when you do rinse it off you rinse off everything. You leave nothing behind. If you have Lake Michigan sitting on your hood, partially dry it.... just move some of the water out of the way and expose a decent amount of paint. Don't dry it fully, just clear some of the water away. Now do the foundation layer process as described above, and then, because you're a MOL user, do the standard application as well. You'll thank me. Oh, but if water is doing a Lake Michigan impersonation on your hood, you've likely got some other issues.... like that paint may need to be clayed first, just as you normally would before applying a traditional wax or sealant. Do it.”

    Hi Pan,
    Love your videos! Can watch them for hours.
    I've seen some video's where they apply (for example) the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax on a dry car.
    They buff it off with a microfibre towel. What is your opinion on this?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for taking the time Pan, nice work! 👍👌✌
    What kind of clay towel and lube are you using?
    Seal & Shine is a total home run. No misleading label, versatile and easy application, lots of sexy water beading and superior durability at a fraction of the cost of competitors. It's almost ridiculous how good it is.
    It is like Opti-Seal combined with a good spray wax. A little goes a looong way and plenty of lubrication, an ideal drying aid protection for those that towel dry. Protects and plays nice with glass and trim, with an effortless streak free wipe off, sunlight friendly If you work in small sections. If you have any streaking issues, you're using too much. One or two sprays per panel is all you need.
    It is an ideal protection for lower budget details. I'm seeing vehicles come back as far out as 60 days since application, protection is still intact. Very impressive all the way around. I bought a bunch, I hope they don't raise the price.

      I tried a couple clay alternatives awhile ago and didn't care for them, but they weren't high quality. I'm gonna give them another try and get a couple new ones, seems like they could definitely save some time. Do you prefer the towel over the Autoscrub?

      Seal and Shine was recently released locally, so I grabbed a bottle for me to try out.
      I got too excited and sprayed the entire hood of my 2019 Hilux (as if using a quick detailer) and experienced streaking (this was on top of Meguiar's Gold Class carnauba wax) as you've mentioned. Took a bit of buffing to remove it but boy does Seal and Shine work!
      Drove around in the rain for a quick test right after the wash and the water just falls off of the hood, instead of simply clinging onto it.
      P.S. thanks again for the product review Pan!

    Hi, I had been using Meguires Ceramic products and the durability , beading up and sheeting was great! The only drawback was it didn’t have that just waxed feel. I bought the Turtle Wax grafphene ceramic spray on. The application was easy, the paint gloss was much better and I applied 2 coats following the directions exactly. I was impressed with the gloss and that just waxed feel but, I was very disappointed with water beading and NO water sheeting ! The beading was no better than a car with a 3 month old wax job.I plan writing Turtle wax company to voice my displeasure . Thank You for your videos even though I don’t totally agree with you on this product.

      It does and is a main reason it doesn't seem to fare as well as some others. Hardly anyone allows for it to fully cure before the "torture tests".

    • @Cad1900
      @Cad1900 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed CMX does take 24hrs cure. Says so right on the bottle. I talked to Mothers directly and they told me to strip the CMX with industrial degreaser before a respray. Funny that’s the first chemical used in this test. That’s exactly why the Turtle Wax appeared better than Meguires and Mother’s. Different compositions. Where exactly would my car be subjected to Industrial degreaser. Anyways I’m sure the Turtle Wax is a good product I just wanted to share what I’ve learned about CMX. Thanks Pan I appreciate your videos.

      EXACTLY. It also clearly states on the bottle to allow a few minutes for the coating to bond to the surface before buffing off. This is the second video I've seen in which they didn't follow the instructions for the CMX. Pretty much nullifies the entire video. Thinking about using this product, sure would be nice to find a video that represents it properly.

      @@techtube3831 I wondered about that too -- now to be clear Mr. Pan does note at the beginning of the video that this test was more for fun than anything. I am very impressed by the turtle wax for it's ease of application and use, but I found my application of Mothers CMX didn't look at all like these tests. It rained the day after I applied it, and the water didn't hold on the car AT ALL. It completely beaded/sheeted right off. Still, fun video.
