What would be really cool is to get a test panel, split it into 3 sections, and apply carnuba wax to one section, polymer sealant to another, and ceramic coat the last section, so you can visibly see the differences side by side of wax vs sealant vs coating

I’ll skip that video and just let you know which ones.... there’s only three you need.... collinite845 is one of the best ones I think. Get it warm and put a spray nozzle on the bottle and your golden.... after that cures I top it with bead maker. Bead maker is awesome alone you just need to apply it more often if that’s all your using. And the last one would be jescar powerlock plus. If you use that first on a clean surface let that cure and top it with collinite to add a lot of shine. Hell you could go crazy and use all three of you let the previous application cure... your go to quick applications will be the collinite and bead maker. Those two alone when I don’t have time for the other keep my car shiney and sooooo waterproof it’s insane!

@@kevina4674 Have you used the newerTurtle Wax products? I just bought a DA for some minor paint correction and had was planning to use Powerlock topped with 845, but I've seen a number of people saying pick one (no need to layer), and others recommending Seal n Shine over Jescar. Curious if that's ease of application (spray), price, or if they believe it's actually a superior product.

For those of us of a certain age, accepting that you can just spray and rinse protection took awhile to comprehend. I discovered Griots about 20 years ago and that opened up a whole new world to me, but having so much access now on TH-cam to detailing has taken my knowledge to another level. I having always used wax but when it's time to wax again, I'm going to try just Wet Coat. The last time I waxed, I didn't realize I could just use Wet Coat, so I applied it after I waxed my car. Ceramic coating would be great, but in every video I see it being applied, part of the paint prep process involves machine polishing and that is something I'm not willing to try. Pan, you're great and keep the great content coming.

I'm always trying different products for my vehicles. I wasn't a big fan of turtle wax products, I used to prefer meguiars or mothers. Before this past winter I needed a new ceramic coat on both vehicles to protect the paint as best as possible. All of the Turtle wax Hybrid ceramic products are amazing and super easy to use compared to other ceramic products. I'd recommend the hybrid wash and wax, ceramic wet wax, the 3 in 1 detail spray for in between washes and the ceramic polish/wax. All 4 products will run you just below $80 at walmart. Hope this helps you out. Good luck

I have always preferred to use carnuaba wax. I like the look it gives and i believe that getting in touch with every inch of your car every few months is a good thing. You can have new scratches or dings or surface rust starting that you may never notice if you only coat it every 2 years. A person don't notice as many details on a maintianance wash.

@@Ultrajamz it's because of the curing time. Once you apply a ceramic coating the car needs to be out of the elements or at least not get wet for 24 hours. I live in Miami. The weather is unpredictable. It can be hot and sunny with out a cloud in sight and then have a crazy thunderstorm within the course of a few hours. I live in a condo and don't have a parking space in a garage. My car is exposed to the elements at all times. This makes ceramic coatings kind of a bad choice for me. It wouldn't cure properly and I'm sure the humidity plays a huge factor in curing time and proper curing as well.

But every 6 months I do a basic compound from Maguires, then Maguires polish, then a good wax. I've tried all brands and my favorite waxes are Zymol, Maguires, Griots Garage, and Mothers. They have different types of waxes and I think I've tried them all. Great results with all those brands.

For me a sealant is the way to go. Currently I'm very happy with the TW Seal & Shine. My experience with ceramic coatings (applied by "professionals") was very disapointing. I found that the price they asked was far too high for what it brings. So now I prefer to apply a sealant every 4-6 months myself. I get the same protection and save some money at the the same time. Nonetheless, great video!

What an absolute wealth of information you are Pan.
You go into such detail and yet still manage to summarise it so perfectly at the end.
However, there is one comparison that you haven’t done yet (well I can’t find it) about the effectiveness of grit removal prior to actually laying a hand on the paintwork.
On a road and rain dirty car how much of the damaging grit is actually removed by: prewash with a hose, prewash with a pressure cleaner, prewash with a foam spray. Do an example of each then air dry and closely examine.
Swirl marks are the bane of every car lovers life, and a really effective technique to eliminate happening in the first place I’m sure would interest all your subscribers.
Would a magnifier inspection be too much?
Anyway thanks to much for all the work you go to in these videos and I hope you go from strength to strength!

By far, my favourite is Maguire’s hybrid ceramic wax ( blue bottle ). Wash car, spray when wet and wipe off. Even very forgiving if you don’t wipe some spots, turns transparent. No curing time needed, excellent shine and makes car easy to wash off grime and winter road spray. The complimentary Maguire’s Ceramic detailer ( green bottle ) is the perfect product to dry clean your car from light dust. Provides a deep rich colour of the paint. I use both of these products exclusively on both cars and my Harley Davidson where it gets into those cracks , crevices and hard to reach places ensures protection of chrome, wires, engines Matt black surfaces leaving a like new clean shine on the engine, no white spots or color change due to high heat from engine. I even use the Ceramic wax on patio furniture, pontoon, hot tub, gazebo and any other plastic or fibreglass items. Absolutely terrific product.

I tried the sealant stuff. Very easy to use, spray on and buff off. The shine is maybe a bit too glossy, a bit artificial. Very reflective almost like a chrome effect. You can see objects reflected in the car surfaces. Waxes gives a deeper gloss so depending on the colour of your car the traditional waxes bring out the colour more and look better.

Great video Sir. Now it’s a personal choice of a detailer to apply a wax or a sealant or any spray ceramic spray on a car. But basically that might have a theory in regard to the colour of the car. Like a yellow or pink colour might pop and look good with a wax more than a sealant probably. A warm tone or a cold tone. So if that is the case, please make a video on how best protection elements can be decided based on the colour of the car. Thanks Pan

Pan you are my Professor for detailing. I have been caring for my vehicles for the last 30+ years. Back in the day it was wax and that was the only choice. Years later I started to used TW spray wax mostly on my motorcycle. My next vehicle was a mini van and that went through the car wash once a month (to busy being a dad and a coach). A few years ago my amazing wife bought me an almost new Dodge Ram 1500 (that is when my interest in detailing began). I learned all the tricks, tips and techniques from the best of the best (Pan, Scott & Brian) on TH-cam. Maguire's Ultimate Fast Finish was the firs synthetic paint sealant I had every used and it was an AWESOME product. Just last week I did a full detail with one step paint correction and then finished it off with TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating and all I can say is "WoW". So easy to use (a little goes a long way - just two sprays per panel and a brand new microfiber towel to level and wallah!!). I live in Maine and it snowed 7 inches the next day and the snow would not stay on the hood. Quite the test. I think this new technology is amazing and I am a firm believer. Someday I may have a large garage to work inside which would encourage me to go for the gusto with a true Ceramic coating but until then... TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating is the winner for me. "Keep it tight, Keep it clean"!!

I have only recently used Turtle Wax Sealant Hydrophobic Wax (as it is called here in the UK) and absolutely love this stuff. Easy to apply, cheap, great look and durability. 👍I would like to try a ceramic but.... It is not the application that is a concern for me, more the right conditions as I am an outside detailer. Very inclement weather conditions here in the UK.

Try CarPro Lite if you are just wanting to start with Ceramic Coatings. Wipe on, wipe off and lasts up to 12 months.

@@lockergr used CQLITE on numerous cars. Awesome to use even outside and you can coat a car quite quickly. If you want to get greater durability, you can apply 2 layers.

But they overall are pretty cheap. Meguiers is much better and turtle wax falls somewhere in the middle.

Dude armor all is the basic bitch of detailing products. Literally mass produced for Walmart and markets. You think someone who doesn’t give a shit about his car or detailing in general, is gonna spend $18 for a bottle of collinite? For $18 you can probably get an entire low budget low quality detailing package at Walmart

Im liking the ceramic spray protectant because its easier and quicker to apply. The whole point is to protect from the sun and Im willing to sacrifice protection time for ease of application since I dont want to ruin my finish. Thanks for this video it was very helpfull.

It is probably the best bang for the buck sealant out there... Meg's Ultimate Fast Finish is great too and is a little easier to apply but doesn't have any wax mixed in like the Seal N Shine. The wax mixed in gives it a bit of a "warmer" look.

My idea about clearcoat is that it was a way of reducing the weight of the vehicle. The manufacturers had to be fanatical about reducing the vehicle weight. Having a thin base coat and a thin layer of clearcoat instead of heavy layers of paint was one more thing of many that they could do to help to accomplish that. Nevertheless, clearcoat worked very well - perhaps so well that the people thought they did not have to do anything to maintain it.
I have a down-and-dirty fix for bad clearcoat. Get some outdoor water-based polyurethane spar paint, I used Varathane. Get a kitchen scrubber, the rectangular kind you can you can buy in the dollar store. Or you can use the rough side of scrubber-sponge combo. Wash the area with the bad clear coat and rub with the scrubber until all of the loose clearcoat is rubbed off. Rinse again. Dab on the outdoor urethane with a facial tissue. The urethane will dry within a few minutes. The result will not be professional, but it will pass the eyeball test in the parking lot or parked on the street at home or when you are visiting. Your vehicle will no longer be an eyesore and this method does restore the shine. I have done it with one car and the urethane coat did survive some heavy rains. I don't know how long it will last but I imagine at least a couple of years.

I have used 3D products in the past but now I am using Meguiars ceramic wax and am very satisfied with the results and effort required. The key of course is a clean, clayed, surface. I might try the Turtle Wax version of the same, but Meguiars is easy to find at the stores.

Thank you for this informative video, from Singapore here. It is a great video to differential the types of protection. I'm mostly on optimum products such as opti-coat pro, spray wax and hyper seal. Our Singaporean environment here can be rather harsh due to our tropical weather (Slight acidic rain) and constant tree sap, bird droppings. Making things simple to maintain by newer technology is always a welcome.
Currently thinking to try the new turtle wax spray ceramic coating and see how does it compares to hyper seal. And you've brought my attention to this GYEON wet coat on it's spray on, rinse off application, might be a great idea for the rims. Thank you.

I started detailing cars last summer in Dallas Texas and have applied turtle wax seal and shine on about 15 cars and 5 cars with the new hybrid solutions. One of my regular customers has a BMW M3 with the ceramic coating and after washing it every week I prefer the ceramic spray from hybrid solutions over the full ceramic coating for a vehicle that does a lot of city driving . My regular customers M3 would get new scratches (small)every other week or so and was more labor intensive to remove the scratches than hybrid solutions. In my opinion when you figure in cost to apply the ceramic, maintenance, and scratch removal The hybrid solutions offers the best deal far as cost for the average working guy that wants an amazing shine and excellent protection
