I think the additional gloss of the Meguiar's wins me over. I'm not worried about chemical resistance because I like to apply a new layer of sealant every few washes.

My vote goes to Mothers for its great protection and durability. This is much more a consideration on a daily driver than any of the other parameters for me. It also clearly richened the color much more than megs.

Agree with what you said around the 13 minute mark talking about how products need to be tested in the real world...HOWEVER...testing on a panel in your backyard does give controlled feedback which is highly valuable. It also gives a good baseline. If a products hydrophobics don't last a year on a test panel that simply sits in your backyard, you can probably safely assume it's not going to last very long on your daily driver

Mothers as a foundation with it's jetting effect and durability. Megs as the topper over Mothers with it's gloss and water behavior. Best of both worlds.

I think mother's took the win. The water behavior was a little better in the beginning for the meguiar's product. But in the end, even after the ten wash test, the APC, followed by the citrol 266, mother's was still beading. That's my choice.

I applied the Meguairs to a dry car, wiped over with a damp microfibre then buffed with a dry microfibre, the gloss was great but it wasn't that slick. I was disappointed by the durability.
Sure the Mothers may last longer but I want gloss too!!!
As a side note, a 50/50 mix of the Meguairs and Seal and Shine gave great durability and gloss.

I use the Meguiars product. It's one of the very few products I have used where the difference after application is easily noticeable; beyond any placebo effect (on a dark car I admit). It's a reasonably easy application as long as you dry the area before it dries itself! The ability to top up with a spray and rinse (I apply with a damp wash mitt onto a wet car for better coverage) means literally only a few minutes added on to the time taken for a wash. I was impressed with the durability and slickness shown by the Mothers product in this test but it wasn't enough to make me want to change to it.

I have been using the Meguiars on my new Telluride for a year now and while it has incredible beading action I am going to try something else. Probably the Turle Wax Hybrid. The Meguiars spots very easily. I end up having to buff it out using some good old fashion elbow grease applying a lot of pressure. Its quite the workout. It also completely comes off after 1 commercial car wash which it wouldn't surprise me if they all do.

However there are great products out there now, with that being said I do have a garage kept accord with the HCW by meguiars that after two years with topping it with the HC quick detailer is still protecting as the hydroponics are still there. Keep in mind it is garage kept and rarely driven in rain. My 2 cents.

    All this is unnecessary.
You can tell how good a product is going to perform.
    When you are applying it.
For example: When I tried the Mothers product, when applying there was a lot of resistance. Even when buffing out.
    When applying the Meg. product.
You can feel the resistance fading when applying.
Then has you buff it out almost all resistance is gone.
My true test is when I'm finished.
I will toss a rag on to my hood.
With the Meg. product the rag slides all the way to the other side and slides off.
    With the Mothers product.
When I toss the rag on to the hood, it stops immediately.
So tell me which one do you think is better ?

Apologies for a late question but I was reading comments from another TH-cam Detailer suggesting that you can dilute the Hybrid Ceramic Wax to make yourself a Hybrid Ceramic Detailer equivalent and to make your dollar go further. Would this work or would the addition of water to the wax activate the proprietary chemicals immediately, reducing and minimising their effect as a detailer?

I wish you guys would just do what the average car owner does, do half of your car with each then just give it a wash once a week and see how long they last. Most people don't spray the harsh chemicals on their cars.

I think much of this test would have been tilted towards mothers if the application quantity was the same. Spraying into the cloth and wiping it on just would not have applied the quantity. Much gets absorbed and the layer you spread on is thin.
Spraying onto the surface and spreading around pushes a much thicker application in my opinion. Despite the instructions i think mothers gloss would have been up higher.

Try the Meguiars on a dry panel, it is more durable.

While I know there are a million product videos out there with various waxes, sealants and hybrid things…can anyone recommend (in 2022) a really good sheeting product? Gotta be sheeting, not beading. Thanks.

Yes....I have a product that sheets...but it is so popular...it sells out quickly. apexsurfaceprotection.store/collections/apex-surface-protection-products/products/apex-surface-protection-rehydra-sheet
