    i built mine a few years ago. i adapted a gsxr fuel injection system and coil on plug system to a 81 1100. The whole bike electric wise is gsxr including the harness,sensors, thrott bodies etc etc. Took about 6 months and it ran an 11.72 versus the 13.60 it ran stock

    • @HooptieDoodle
      @HooptieDoodle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds sweet! What lead you down that road to gsxr throttle bodies and wiring?

    • @dragbikebam
      @dragbikebam 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HooptieDoodle well long story short i hate carbs. I build all kinds of crazy stuff but i race a gsxr dragbike and got one with the harness on these things and figd id try it on the wing since carbs were junk. The difference is just unbelievable. the torque and acceleration, the smooooothness... i was in shock at what id done. Hardest part was adapting the crank sensor and cam sensors but i had to build adaptors for thrott bodies and the list is long but worth ever hour i spent on it. I should have done a video on it but am wrapped up in the build too much to fiddle with the camera lol

  • @tidepappy

    Did one of these builds myself about 2 years ago. It was a 83 that I put a 86 front end and rear swing arm on. Put a GS gas tank on it. Took a while but came out amazing.

    • @HooptieDoodle
      @HooptieDoodle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweet. What's the advantage of the swingarm swap?

    • @HP.Customs
      @HP.Customs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HooptieDoodle 86 swingarm is 1.5 inches longer.

    • @HP.Customs
      @HP.Customs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HooptieDoodle Also the 86 front suspention is wider. Don’t remember the specs but I believe the difference is 12 mm thicker on the front.

    • @HooptieDoodle
      @HooptieDoodle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HP.Customs The '83 and '86 are both 1200s, right? So was the swingarm swap plug and play, or were mods required?

    • @HP.Customs
      @HP.Customs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HooptieDoodle The 83 is a 1100 and the rear swing arm fit like a glove but the front end needed spacing under the bottom bearing to fit the triple on. Everybody on the forums said it couldn’t be done but after test fitting the shaft was the same width but it was about a 1/4 inch longer and it made it where it would bottom out the nut to where it wasn’t tight. I used a washer from a GS750G front triple as a extra to get it tight. Worked like a charm.

But as for styling and the vintage factor, the other three Goldwing's certainly have a soft spot in my heart. There are 4 others also in the collection. 1973 CB350 Four, 1975 CB550F, 1974 CL200 and the cruiser is a 2004 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic. All fun bikes and all have their place. Cheers! Zip~

    Just jealous - I have tools, some knowledge, but no way could pull this off. I would love to take a non-running bike and build a bobber. I love the fabrication. It is not mind blowing but that is what makes it perfect. These "uncorked" Goldwings sound like any boxer engine which is unique for a bike (not so much if you grew up around VW Bugs... Love it

      @HooptieDoodle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Glad you like it. I did grow up on VWs, I also have a Subaru. I must like boxer engines. Yeah, the bike build though was a fabrication learning exercise. I hope you send a video of this build to Mr Honda. Now they’ll have to release a factory Bobber.

    I’m new to motorcycles, I’ve been around them forever but at 32 I finally decided to start riding, I’m 6 foot 8 and almost 400 lbs so people recommended a GL1100 to me.

    • @HooptieDoodle
      @HooptieDoodle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I had started at 32 😀. I waited till 40. When you describe yourself, it makes me think of the Honda Grom I rode in the licensing class - which I look funny on at 6'2". But they're still fun to ride! The goldwings are good bikes and easy to ride, but everyone has different preferences so, if you're asking, I say try out as many bikes as you can. One thing to note with the older Hondas like the GL1100, is that some are difficult to get into neutral if the bike isn't rolling. I mention this, cause as a new rider this quirk can be distracting and the fewer distractions the better at the beginning. Glad to hear you're starting to ride😎🏍

      @@HooptieDoodle thanks for the advice man! I’ve tried my brothers Dyna and it’s just too small for me. Everyone says I look like a monkey f*cking a football lol.

    That is a slick single shock rear conversion there although don't let the boys hang down to low with the shock spring right there.The muffler spring was nice too. Goldwings make awesome bobbers, especially since your ditching all the extra junk all over it. What did you toss, about 80-100 pounds of weight? Great job! I did a Yamaha V Star 1100 bobber along the same lines as you. Toss all the extra bags and cladding, cut up and toss the rear frame and keep the shaft drive.

      @HooptieDoodle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, its a cool chop 🔪. I am very pleased with how well the shoc functions- it's quite comfy 😀. A v star would also be great👍. I am currently making a hardtail Grom chopper

    Time stamp 2:28, 1100cc/67ci motor sounds like THAT with no muffler?! DANNNNNNG! I'm taking the pipes off my 1854cc/113ci Yamaha Raider motor tomorrow! That thing sounded like a V8!
    I know the back pressure, but that sound though!

    The first True and Righteous Gold Wing I see. Until now every GW I saw was like Christmas tree - covered with fat layer of LEDs and driven by a pervert.
    This GW is fine, I like it.
