Hey Jimmy! That's a great build. The men in my family grew up riding gold wings. I love to see people keeping these old machines running with new and fresh ideas. Keep up the good work!
@@akaSuperJimmy All you have to do is change oil & filter at regular intervals and these old 1100's will run forever! I have 214,000 miles on my 82 GL1100 and one of my riding partners has over 280,000 on his 83 GL1100 and has ridden it in every State in the US, excluding Hawaii but including Alaska!
Extraordinary build sir! I've got an '83 gold wing - formerly the Aspencade variant - full dresser...ugly AF maroon/brownish whatever. Last fall I finished a cafe build of a '78 Yamaha XS400 that I'm really proud of... this goldwing is next - gonna be a full restoration down to the frame. It's a bit of a tribute build for my big brother "Moose" who was killed in a motorcycle accident 8yrs ago. This was his first bike that he bought from a family friend then sold to a different family friend when he bought the Harley that he lost his life on (typical story of an elderly lady who didn't see or hear him). That family who bought it from my brother eventually bought a much newer goldwing and, knowing my connection to this bike, asked me if I wanted it and signed over the title to me (honestly didn't have much sale value anyway as it was (and still is) in rough shape. Wish me luck...gonna be a lot of work! Cheers, - Jens
Its me again just letting you know you inspired us to do a Goldwing cafe project, my son purchased the bike a couple of weeks ago and we are planning and getting busy with build. Thanks again for your great video, its been very helpful with parts and mods needed.
Beautiful Scooter. I am planning a hot rodded GL1200. I have a pair of dual throat down draft weber carbs. I will not do a cafe racer though. More upright comfort for these old bones. Something that will fly through the twisties but will also do the freeway slabs all day long. No fairing or trunk either. Something that looks cool and sounds like an Indy car. Peace.

I like what you did. I've had 3 83' GLs' that were full faired w/ bags that I rode like a sport bike w/ suspension mods. Ran away from a few squids on GXRs in canyons of LA. When I saw your YT description of the vid I was hoping to see a 4 into 1 pipe. Saw 1 on an ''outlaw'' club bike. It sounded FANTASTIC! I have a Triumph Sprint 1050, but want another 83' GL.
A fantastic and very tasteful job. That boxer engine looks great on a cafe style bike rather than hidden behind fairing. I have been looking at all of the Goldwing conversions and I think this is the nicest I have seen. The only shame for me about this bike is I can’t just walk in somewhere and buy it because I would in a heartbeat.
Spectacular customization! Not what you would expect to see someone do to a touring bike but that adds to the vision while most take a sportier bike and make them into a bobber or chopper not the other way around so my hat's off to you sir an amazing transformation.
I have never been a fan of the cafe racer craze but your build is on another level. I’m old and currently am/was restoring an 82 wing. This build has me leaning towards dumping the plastics then possibly adding a small batwing fairing. Once again, your build is absolutely stunning, fantastic workmanship and everything blends perfectly with the flat 4 wing engine.
I hate flooding the comment section but you did a really good job on this bike man. I'm 37 and I'm done with the wheelies and knee dragging. Just wish I could take phones out of everyone's hand so when I'm done with my build we can all be much more safe out here

I've got an 89 super magna that I was thinking of scramblerizing down the road and this video popped up in my feed. I'm so glad it did too, this thing looks so damn nice! Even the weird discolored heat wrap somehow works on it somehow. I can hardly believe that's a Goldwing, beautiful work man.
Excellent bike and video. I been wanting to do a goldwing cafe for a couple years now, just haven't had the money to buy a bike. A couple weeks ago a 1983 honda shadow presented itself to me for $300 so I will practice on that until I find my goldwing... you should build a few more to sell for the people out there that can't build their own. Keep up the good work!

I had two 1983's i made into cafe/rat/bobbers. 1983 is the very best year of the goldwing for this, before 1983 they came with cheap looking comstar wheels and the year after they changed the tank and after that starting in 1985 everything was molded and couldn't be removed without looking very trashy.
Beautiful bike. I always like to see what people can do with these old wings. I ride an '87 rat wing. I am slowly stripping things off but bags and box have to stay because I ride long distances. Don't have time to do much to my wing. I will arrive in the US next April and ride every day until August. If I have to work on the bike I borrow another bike and keep riding.

Beautiful job. Fantastic build. Would like to see some your tools, techniques & processes for the parts. I'm looking at an identical starter project bike right now ... so tempting.
Love this Goldwing build. Just picked up an 1981 GL1100 this past week. Starting with small things first. Handlebars grips and mirrors to get rid of that older dated look. With the new bars did you have to get any risers for the handle bars to fit in there well? Picked up some similar bars off Amazon and fits but won’t go that far forward likes yours down do.

If you like GL bobber products, you should definitely check out my newest project th-cam.com/video/x_DkMJT6cs8/w-d-xo.html

Working on my 1978 GL1000 build as we speak!
Hey that’s awesome! I would love to get a 70s. I love the gauges in the “tank” and the spoked wheels. Good luck!
@@akaSuperJimmy well then you'd be sad to hear that I pulled the tank and am putting one in from a cb750.
@@beng9310 That is sad, but I'm sure it'll be sweet when you're done. You're planning to keep the spoked wheel still right?
@@akaSuperJimmy my '78 comes with ComStars, so I bought some spokies to put on
@@beng9310 Yes!
GORGEOUS bike.
Thanks!!
Amazing video and great walkthrough!
Thanks so much! Make sure to share it with your friends!
This is a great build. If you ever want to sell it, I'd be interested in buying it off you. I'm originally from MI as well.
Thanks man, I think I'll be buried with this thing, I love too much to part with it. Thanks for the offer tho!
That is one sweet bike you built
Thanks man!
This is a work of art. So good!
Wow, thank you!
Thanks absolutely great build wonder why Honda does not make bobber from scratch
Thanks! I have no idea. Sure would be sweet if they came off the factory floor this way. Of course then my bike won't be special anymore. So on second thought, they can keep making motorcycles for Grandpa's. LOL!
Solid build dude. Great job on the video as well.
Appreciate it!
I like what u did I have a 81 goldwing love it the ride is amazing
thank you!! its a blast!
Awesome! I have done something similar. Love what you did here.
Thanks man!
Nice work. Love the detail What a craft! 😍
Thanks so much!
Beautiful job. Fantastic build. Would like to see some your tools, techniques & processes for the parts. I'm looking at an identical starter project bike right now ... so tempting.
Hey thanks. you definitely need to check out the rest of my videos then. you should totally get one, there awesome!
Love it. We’ll done! Thanks for sharing :)
amazing video! beautiful bike.
Thanks!
Excellent job....That's a beautiful bike...
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it!
Beautiful bike and well done!!
Thank you!
FREAKING LOVE IT! Now, put a black stone guard on the headlight.
Thanks man. Don't know if that would fit the over all look.
Nice bike well done!
Thanks man!
