  • De'Aaron Fox of the NBA Sacramento Kings suffered a serious grade 3 ankle sprain during practice and is expected to be out for at least 3-4 weeks. What does grade 3 mean, and how does the ligament actually heal? In this video i'll explain grading of ankle sprains and the biology of how the ligament actually heals.

    I had a grade 3 ankle sprain back in 2015 thinking I fractured my ankle. It was brutal. I hoop A LOT so it took a lot out of me. It wasn’t until this year mentally where I’m back to where I was. My range of motion will never be what it used to be but i am able to do everything physically as I used to back in the day. It’s a long journey if you’re not a pro athlete depending how focused you are on your rehab.

    I suffered a grade 3 ankle sprain from a hiking accident a little over 3 weeks ago.The swelling has went down slot but it’s still swollen and it hurts but not like it did. I have been in a walking boot and on crutches ever since. My Dr told me I can start putting as much weight on it as I can stand and I will be fitted for a air cast next week.

Tua just had his hip dislocation today so watching your video on the BoJackson injury literally days before gave me an insight into what Tua might have to deal with. At least we shouldn’t have to worry about that artery going into necrosis with Tua. Can’t see that going untreated today as it was with Bo.

    I completely tore my left ligament in my ankle 3 months before my senior basketball season, it healed. And then 1 month before my first game I tore the right ankle ligament but it healed faster than the left and I was able to play my first conference game. I rested 4 games before that. It still feels kind of sore at times after I play, it happened in July 2018.

    i just sprained my ankle a week ago when working, because of jumping and landing too hard on my right foot and it looks like grade 2 or 3 sprain.. some bruises, swelling, and can't walk. it's been a week now but the swelling still there but the pain reduces, but still can't walk. seeing this video gives me useful information about recovery of ligamen if it's torn apart. since i don't have any assurance or money to go to the hospital for surgery... thank you very much..

    • @faceripper77
      @faceripper77 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blocblackboy Black initially ice for swelling... later on some heat is good to get circulation going but dont over due it bc itll be awhile before you have zero swelling. Once you do you ankle will still be weak and youll need to do some therapy for it. Like balancing on the injured ankle with your eyes closed, and drawing the ABCs in the air with your toes, you want to strengthen the ligaments that are still there.

      Sx is a last resort (unless youre a million dollar athlete) the body heals and strengthens surrounding ligaments to compensate for the lost/ damaged one. When there is a complete tear on the ligament, does collagen type 1 help "pull" the ligament back to its shape prior to the tear? In other words, is it because the liagment is "stretched" that makes it more probable for reoccurring injury?

    Ok just rolled/sprained my ankle. Seems ok after putting it up and icing it for four days, I can put more weight on it today. There are a couple of specific spots that feel slightly achy, and kind of hurt only when I palpate. Realizing that my knee has been feeling uncomfortable since then, not pain necessarily, but just feeling like it needs to pop. Could it be related?

  • @43labontepetty
    @43labontepetty 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So if you hear multiple pops can you assume thats a complete tear of multiple ligaments? Also what if you wrapped it in an ace bandage and kept limping on it because you had to get around campus? Can that lead to long term problems?

    Brian... I've been a Kings fan since I started watching basketball 17 years ago as a child. Our team is always trash. I thought this was the year. Just end me.

    So I Sprained my ankle like 2 years ago when I jumped from a stairset while skateboarding. It was very very swollen and I couldn’t even walk for more than a month. Was that like a tier 3 sprain or what? The ankle still looks a bit different from the other one till this day.

    Have you heard of Dr. clapper? He used to have a segment on the radio in LA about injuries and he would make a simple example using household items to describe injuries. Clapper doesn’t do it anymore sadly. But this is like “clappervision” continued

    I cringed when Dr. Sutterer ripped apart the tissue. Grade 3 tears do not seem fun.
