    Looks awesome man! It costs $1,300 for Dodge’s “blacktop” package just to get blacked out wheels/emblems from the factory. Instead, I spent $21 for three cans of plasti-dip and got the same look on my 2021 Charger. Very pleased with the results.

  • @viaciclista
    @viaciclista 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Yuriy, some great videos. What is your decision criteria on applications where you would Plasti Dip versus vinyl wrap?

    • @YuriyMotso
      @YuriyMotso  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly plastidip is much easier than wrapping. However if it’s a large surface area you could end up with some overspray or uneven coatings if you are not experienced.
      The vinyl has its own issues as well. Overall great finish but more difficult, time consuming and you could get wrinkles if you don’t handle the material properly.
      Now I have done both and because my plastidip is on the rear of the truck it’s not exposed to the same torrential weathering like the vinyl does. That being said the vinyl is still in excellent shape. Looks same as the day I installed it. No fading or peeling. I’ll maybe have to do a follow up video for you guys so you can see it up close and personal.
      So preference really goes down to how much time and effort you want to put into your piece. The quality comes down how well you can apply the material so both will look good if you do it right.
      Today I might go with plastidip first and if that failed vinyl. You can buy plastidip on matte, semi and high gloss finishes. So if you like that glossy black interior trim on the rtle and black edition ridgelines then that would be the route to go.

    Hey Yuriy. Thank you for all the awesome videos! For the chrome delete on the window pillars, do you recommend vinyl or plasti-dip?

    • @YuriyMotso
      @YuriyMotso  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly if I did it again, probably would try the plastidip. Reason is that my plastidip has been on now for two years and looks like new. Since the window pillars are located on the side of the vehicle and not the front, very little damage will be happening from rock chips that would increase the likelihood of it peeling away. So for that reason I would definitely try the plastidip.

      Thanks. Yes, plastic dip is not a permanent application but is very resilient to most conditions. You can peel it off later as I showed in my example technique. Now on emblems and intricate items it may take a little more work to remove but again it's not permanent. The brand I used is Plasti-dip. Available in all your local retail stores, Walmart, home depot, Lowes, orielly auto parts and more. If you have specific colors you are looking for then I have link to plasti-dip in my description.

      Because it’s going on in small coats and I’m not building up enough material between the gap from the logo and the vehicle, that is a weak spot where the plastidip will rip away cleanly. Don’t wait too long. A few minutes and you should start removing the plastidip.

    Im was thinking doing the door chrome trim. Do you think it would be possible to take them off first then spray them?

      Door chrome? Around the window? Probably more work than it’s worth.

    Does this hold up through car washes? Do you think it would work on the chrome trim around the doors and door handle?

      I will work around there. I don’t go through car washes due to my light pods but it passes a pressure washer test.

    would a single edge razor blade help on bumper?

    • @YuriyMotso

      No need for the razor. Just a good application and don’t wait to long to peel it off. You want the gaps to be the breaking point when you peel it off.

    Hi, what products would you recommend for the black bumper for discoloration?

    Is it still holding up? Does it scratch off when you wash the truck?

    I live in Seattle and we have a car wash place called brown bear. I get my car washed 2xs a week. Will the car wash make the dip come off ?

      I used to live in Tacoma boarders federalway. When fully dry it should hold up to car washes, people spray their rims all the time. Maybe try a small area and test it out before committing. I don’t use car washes, because I can’t. I do prefer touchless though. Lots of great touchless car washes in Washington.

    How long did you wait before you started peeling it off after you did the 5 coats?

    Sorry, I’m confused: why does the plastidip peel off the paint so easily, yet sick to the emblem letters so well? Did you prime the letters to promote adhesion? (I tried googling, but couldn’t find the answer)
