    Make sure to warm up your cans in warm water and make sure you fully wet out the last few coats if you want to get rid of the textured look you ended up with. It should come out fairly smooth when done right. Definitely a cheap mod worth doing that looks good.

    This is very cool! Years ago I was hand polishing my chrome emblem. I was trying to make it super shiny. Just by hand, I wore a spot thru the chrome. I had to continue to polish to remove all the chrome. That’s how I discovered blackout emblems. Seriously it did look good.

    Pro tip: put a very small piece of tape on paint, in between outside of H and inside of circle around H, so you don’t have to scrape a hole through the plasti dip to start the peel. You can take that piece of tape off, and there is a nice little uncovered spot you can start peeling from

    Read tons of comments and not a single person here seems like they’ve painted professionally. I watched your video for 5 seconds and can already tell you a HUGE no no that you’ve done before painting. NEVER use cloth that is dingy and falling apart to prep your painting surface. You risk whatever dirt/debris is caught in the strings being left behind on your prepped surface. You also risk leaving behind stray strings/threads that you wouldn’t notice without a thorough inspection. You can see thread caught under the plastidip in the before and after transition photos/videos. Sprayed paint unfortunately magnify whatever is caught underneath and only gets worse upon adding extra coats so it’s VERY crucial nothing stays on the surface and nothing lands on the surface while curing. Outside of that, your technique is great.

    • @kodasanders7208
      @kodasanders7208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sxmori that would probably work but if you’re cheap you can just use like a polyester type cloth. Essentially nothing stringy or falling apart just because a string may be left behind that you may not catch until you’ve sprayed your first layer. Nothing’s worse than picking cotton fiber out of your paint because you’ll almost never get a smooth texture again unless you wipe it down and start from scratch.

      @tysoncolindres5884 man for someone who replied just to talk smack, you really don't even know the year of this civic he's painting emblems on. Also, why go through the effort of making something look good and not do the best job you can? Sounds like someone's brain dead from fumes and let me tell you, it isn't me. Car is at least a 2016. If you think a 2016, or any car for that matter, shouldn't look good just because of the years it has on it, you obviously aren't someone who appreciates fine detail or truly enjoys preserving their work.

      With plastidip you want a light first coat, followed by 3-4 heavy, overlapping coats. It creates a smoother finish. This stuff isn't paint, it also helps to soak the can/cans in warm water for around 10 minutes beforehand for an even smoother finished product.
