    I was torn between the gen 5 or the new 6, but the 128 base storage is what i needed. My macbook is 256 and ive barely used 90gb over the past 6 years so anything bigger than 126 wouldnt be necessary for me personally. The cheaper 5 was tempting tho!

      Yea if I had an older unit, the increased storage and longer updates would likely be worth the M2 over Air 5 since 64GB isn't much.

      @@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj yea it would be really hard to justify upgrading from the 256 GB air 5! You'd honestly have to really try to find the differences especially with everyday takes (except maybe the landscape camera). Got my wife the Air 5 late last year and I know for sure she wouldn't be able to tell the difference lol

    Nice and informative breakdown! I just think it’s kind of insane that my 2018 Pro 11” has more features than the 2024 Air. The 2024 Air should 100% be an upgrade to a device that is now 6 years old. If I want a larger screen size and want a device that is no more than 2 years old, I’ll have to buy a £1100 2022 Pro, to get at least the same features I had before, or buy a £800 Air and actually lose features. I’ve never felt this way in 19 years of being an Apple user. There has always been an upgrade that made sense. From an iPhone 5 to an SE. From the SE to a 12 mini. However after these announcements, I’m left thinking ‘where do I go from here?’ Surely, the planning at Apple should involve imagining users of every single iPad from the last 10 years let’s say. You’d plot them out and make sure that each user had at least two options. The first option would be for people whose use cases haven’t really changed that much. To these people you give performance improvements and update the design of the devices a bit and let them use the core new software features. These people just need something that will let them continue what they’re doing for another 7 years or so. They should pay a sum pretty close to what they paid last time around. The second option would be for people whose use cases have changed quite a bit. Maybe they now do lots more video editing and so need the processing power of a Pro iPad. They get everything they had before, but they get significantly more power, screen resolution etc. It’s reasonable to expect these users to pay a decent amount more than what they spent on the last device.
    There should never be a downgrade as an option. I think the least we can expect is that when we come to upgrade we’re getting at the very least 100% of the capabilities our previous devices had, plus some degree of new stuff.
    Sorry rant over!

      Which main features in the 2018 pro are you noticing that are missing on the 2024 air? Looking at it briefly I see the 120Hz display which to me does matter. 6 years is a lot of time in technology years so it is crazy to me that there are some things missing in an $800 device

      In Apple's reasoning it only has to be an upgrade to the previous air line, which it is, so it's tempting new users and those upgrading from older air and standard models, though probably not the air 5. They are supposing that most pro users will stay pro and not downgrade to an air. I have never had a pro, though I've used one, so I can imagine that once you go pro, it's difficult to go back.

    • @mypradasatthecleanerss
      @mypradasatthecleanerss 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Therejectionartist yes I think if they use that reasoning, then what they’ve released works. I do however think a company as advanced and stable as Apple though should not stick so tightly to this sort of reasoning. I think for a young technology company launching a series of headphones let’s say, it makes sense to have an entry level model, an intermediate model and a pro model. For Apple though, who can afford to take risks and whose customers are decades long users by this point and know exactly what they want, I think it would be better if they had more flexibility. They should facilitate downgrades, because they should, at this point, have the confidence to know that a downgrade might not mean they get less money out of me at my next device refresh point. As in, make it straightforward for me to downgrade from a Pro to an Air, because I might actually swap a 64gb Pro for a 1TB Air. Apple then wouldn’t be getting a reduced amount of money from me. To be honest, I’ve usually found that Apple offers this kind of flexibility on all other occasions they’ve upgraded their device line-ups, except this one

    I purchased the new 11" iPad Air, so my Mrs could have my Air 4th generation. Comparing them, other than the speed it will load a page, I can't say there is a lot of difference. Now I know there will be little things you will notice over time, maybe when I get to Spain it will pick up the Coffee Nutz wifi better while up in our apartment. Very proffesional review, I almost feel embarrassed with the amount of subscribers I have after watching this. Best Dave

      Yea I wouldn't expect most people performing basic tasks on an iPad Air 4 and the new iPad Air to notice much of a difference since the iPad Air 4 is still plenty powerful enough for daily tasks. The biggest change between them was the introduction of Apple's very powerful M1 chip (along with some other minor additions such as 5G and camera improvements).

      Really? I just bought the iPad Air 5 for the same price as you and I was actually disappointed. I had a ipad pro 2017 10.5 and honestly, the only thing that’s an upgrade is the processor and ram. The screen doesn’t have as much contrast and the colors look better on the 2017 pro(the colors look kind of washed out on the iPad Air), the air doesn’t have 120Hz like the 2017 and the storage is the same at 64 gigs. I honestly thought it would be a bigger upgrade… honestly all of these features I didn’t even think about because I just figured six years later that Apple would’ve upgraded all the iPads to what the pro was in 2017…

    • @BBTechBreakdown
      @BBTechBreakdown  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@teddysurf yea apple saves the best displays and refresh rates for the iPad Pro. Which makes sense to an extent (although I still think the airs should absolutely have 120Hz displays). So when moving from an older iPad Pro to a newer iPad Air it won't necessarily translate to improvements across the board, especially with the display, as you are moving from an older premium device to a newer less premium device.

But after watching the reviews, I felt better since they said there was not much difference and upgrades so I felt better. I think the biggest upgrade is the M1 to M2 chip, the other options for more storage and the 13 inch screen. But that is pretty much it so I don’t think it was much of an upgrade so not worth upgrading.
