Great Review! I really think most youtubers have it wrong with the battery life saying it will go through a full work day of 8-9 hrs constant use. In my experience, writing a lot on the ipad with the pencil, it'll be low on battery after 4-6 hrs (max!) which was something i wasnt expecting and makes life more complex looking for somewhere to charge around noon to keep using it when i'm on the go
The storage capacity on these iPads is criminal! You will never unlock the full capabilities of Editing on the iPad unless you have 1-2TB. Bring back the Micro SD slot!
If you never had a pro, which I haven’t, although I have used a 12,9 a few times, the air 5 is an awesome tablet. I prefer editing in a desktop although it’s always casual editing, I haven’t bothered with lumafusion yet, my use of air 5 had been for work, it’s just plain fast and seamless between cloud apps which is what you need in a fast paced work setting. The standard iPad would probably hold up in this regard but it’s nice to have a better screen and speakers. The air is sleek and feels premium, and will do almost anything you want it to do. Screen mirrors well and it integrates well with MacBook. Unless you have very demanding professional level demands the air is more than enough. I have had one for a year and I can say it’s the best device I’ve ever owned.
Honestly for me the iPad Air 5 has been fantastic, although at the same time I did make a massive jump all the way from the iPad Mini 4 (2015). I never really needed for super heavy stuff but I do use it often for watching content and games, in which it does very well with the M1. I will agree that it is odd that there aren’t many storage options within iPads in comparison to something like iPhones.
I use mine for video editing on Lumafusion. You can edit straight from external storage without importing the files so I only have the 64Gb and it's enough for me thanks to the M1 power
Just got an iPad Air today and I’m really liking it. I bought it because at my job, there’s a lot of downtime so I figured I could do small coding challenges throughout the day and when I get home , I can use my Mac book pro to build actual applications.
I am a new subscriber thank you for your content a upgraded to the air five from the air for simply because of the 8 GB of RAM 5G capabilities for streaming and media consumption, went with 256GB of storage and M1 is icing on the cake. Finally have confidence this ipad will last for yeas. Magic keyboard and Apple Pencil are all quality built durable.
I think a combination of m1 macbook air + ipad mini 6 is a perfect combination in my opinion and in my use case. A full editing in the mac, and playing games, entertainment and light editing (shortform video) in my ipad mini
Same here for university and private usage, just a little bigger: M1 Pro 16" base model MacBook Pro and a iPad Air 5 256GB The 16" M1 Pro is just a "monster" of a computer - its the perfect notebook, its more powerful than my desktop setups and more silent at the same time, its great for media consumption with the big screen and the speakers etc. The iPad Air is perfect when i dont really need all the capabilities the MacBook Pro has and serve also very well as a pseudo computer/notebook in the university, mainly for handwriting/notes, watching and editing pdf´s etc. The combination of both i typically use only at home when i just need fast access to a 2nd screen (or touchscreen on Mac OS) for any multitasking/studying/research related things or when i can make use of 2 different devices But the iPad Air is also very often used for gaming, its such a charming console like experience with gamepad support in such a "tiny" device.

Agreed. I have both the air 5 and air 4. I always use the air 4, not because the air 5 isn’t good, but I don’t find my use cases need the M1. I traded a few older devices for enough trade in value, so I didn’t need to shell out of pocket. Sadly, the stage manager iterations aren’t worth the upgrade, so I don’t really need the M1. I’m a teacher and used to moonlight as a sales director. I thought I’d need the M1 to handle my huge library of teaching materials (70gb of PDFs), but that’s not been the case. Nothing in either workflow required the M1, and I’ve built my workflows entirely around the iPad. In short, the M1 seems a useful update for users who need massive processing power - video and digital artistry - but not for anything else. Hey Kyle, I've been shadow following your content for some time now. Subscribed now. 😁 I have a question for you. Pros and Cons: M1 iPad Air 5 vs Macbook Pro when you factor in all the bits and bobs. In my situation I have the M2 Mac Mini, iPad 1, iPad Mini 1, and Macbook Pro 2011. Three of these devices are showing their age. With this as the background context for the next upgrade, what are your thoughts and caveats regarding a "needed" step up to an Apple Silicone replacement for one of these older devices given the intergrateability of todays devices with the M2 Mac Mini?
I'm torn between getting the Ipad Air 5 or 10 generation for taking notes and for light entertainment. I already have a m2 macbook air that I use primarily for coding and other tasks, so I don't really need the ipad Air's m1 chip's power, and I don't really mind that the 10th-generation Apple Pencil doesn't support the second-generation Apple Pencil cause a third party pencil will do the job for me.
@@esrarulrafin8771 that doesnt matter tbh, you can easily get a mat screenprotecter if you dont mind that. but it could be bothersome if you use it for drawing.

You use a 4k monitor but i was under the impression that 4k monitors stressed the gpu more than a 5k or 1440p monitor. Something with how macs try to output a 4k signal.
you're talking about retina scaling, and most of that is very overblown in regards to Macs (made a video about this about a year ago), but beyond that, this is a completely different system. iPads are much different than macOS, iPadOS is essentially just iOS with some things built on top.
Hello Kyle, I have also an iPad air 5 M1, i would like to know which cable do you use to connect it to your monitor ? how do you charge it at the same time ? thx.
I was convinced to buy an ipad 10th gen but when it came to ram i was severely disappointed because i want to use itfor roblox and for my youtube channel so i think i"l stay close to the ipad air 5 😂😂😅
Moved up to a pricier version for better screen resolution and processor th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but battery drains faster, and not having a button for control of apps turns out to be a problem. Make sure the screen lock is set for 2 mins and don’t use full brightness and turn off all background refresh on apps. Constant watching on full brightness will probably give you 5 hours or so.
Hello Kyle,
I have also an iPad air 5 M1, i would like to know which cable do you use to connect it to your monitor ? how do you charge it at the same time ? thx.
my monitor supports USB-C charging on the input, and I just make sure the cable is good for 10 gigabit per second transfer speeds
Do you face any heating issues while working?
Who watching it on I pad air 5?
I was convinced to buy an ipad 10th gen but when it came to ram i was severely disappointed because i want to use itfor roblox and for my youtube channel so i think i"l stay close to the ipad air 5 😂😂😅
Moved up to a pricier version for better screen resolution and processor th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but battery drains faster, and not having a button for control of apps turns out to be a problem. Touch ID is harder to use than with the old button on the front. Can't really see the better screen resolution or see increase in speed, etc with better processor
599 dolars :)) in slovenia is more like 915 dolars and sallary is 1500 dolars a month. Soo yea this is very cheap ipad :))).
what about the Ugly
I’m the thousandth like😎😎
New iPad airs this year will have 90hz
Source?
@@warrenniles1174 it's a wild guess
Most probably yes
There won’t be an iPad Air this year.
No again 60hz
Are iPads dying?
Yeah they are on ventilator!
You don't need one unless you are planning to take notes for work, Iphone does it all
No. I enjoy using it as an alternative to the laptop.
If you don't have any other promotion devices at home you will be fine. Otherwise you will notice and be tortured forever.
I recently got an iPad Air 5 but i feel the battery runs out so fast 🥲 what is the normal screen-on time ?!!
What do you use it for? I want to buy one for work and I'm concerned about battery life 😊
@@fatimaramadan9558 normal use, watching content & some pdf files, the battery life isn’t that good imo
Make sure the screen lock is set for 2 mins and don’t use full brightness and turn off all background refresh on apps. Constant watching on full brightness will probably give you 5 hours or so. I haven’t tested it though. I can use mine all day at work, with some occasional watching, and it’s still at 50% after about 8 hours. Can easily go the full day, but not with constant watching.
@@Therejectionartist i already turned off all the background refresh & everything else, but still not that good & definitely far from 50% at the end of the day ( the SOT is barely 8 hours in the best case ) i need to charge it at the end of the day every day 🥲
same !!!
