I’m just gonna say, when the iPad Pro M2 came out, I went and bought myself an Open Box IPad Pro 12.9 2020 for 400usd, because I’m a smart person. It has the perfect amount of processor speed and ram, not under or overkill, great 120hz display, and its almost 3x less the price. I just received it in the mail today and I’m in love, and also very happy that my pockets aren’t hurting.

Looks like a good idea to save funds. However, don’t the M1 and M2 have a much brighter and higher quality screen and can connect directly to a high end monitor like the Studio Display via thunderbolt? So for an artist or content creator this has a lot of advantages. Personally I’d buy an 11 in but my old 10.5 does just fine for me as it has superb speakers, 600nts, 120hz and pro motion. Portability is my main requirement plus using the pencil on odd occasions. My son has a 12.9 plus Magic Keyboard and it weighs a ton. My Acer Swift laptop is lighter, has a great keyboard and only cost me $250. I know my sons ‘showboat’ M1 2TB cellular 12.9 plus his keyboard cost more than my 11 year old car is worth. At least I could use my car to drive to his place last weekend. His Apple 12.9 doesn’t have any wheels….

I had a 10th gen iPad th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

I just brought the M2 iPad Pro . I’m an illustrator. I upgraded from my 2018 iPad Pro and I am staggered by how much better it is than my 2018. It is a night and day difference and I feel that most creators on TH-cam are comparing it to last years iPad Pro rather than older iPads. I just wish I had updated sooner but I didn’t as most TH-camrs said the 2018 is just as good as the new iPads. I think it depends on what you’re using it for - if you use Procreate I totally recommend updating.

      @PatrickRambles  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Illustrators gain the most out of this new iPad the hover function (which, admittedly, I was dismissive of at first) is really useful for you guys. And of course the M2 is leaps ahead of the 2018 model, it's 5 years of technology. I think a lot of youtubers tell you to stick with the 2018 model because it's fine for day to day tasks and most basic apps run more or less the same.

Yeah if you own an older iPad 7th Gen and have an old Apple Pencil then need to buy a new Apple pencil for another $129 for the iPad Air 4th Gen? And fully laminated display means you need to replace the whole display if it is cracked and it’s kind of expensive to change vs the non laminated display which is cheaper to replace once it is cracked and don’t need to replace the whole screen, meaning you’re not the target audience of this iPad

    • @antonytello27

@@jaysonrobles25, Before, I was sure to buy the iPad 10 as soon as it was ready to go in my country, but it might take some time, and throughout the days I’ve been watching many vids from many youtubers complaining about the same, non laminated, no Apple pencil 2 support, and so.
I was truly doubting then, weather I should buy a refurbished older iPad, or this new one, though I don’t care about the screen “problem” or the “not support of a better pencil” that I don’t even plan to buy either of them.
So, having a newer iPad, that is gonna get support for more time than the refurbished ones, many similarities with the current iPad air, but cheaper, and right exactly the color I wanted, your comment just helped me to finally stop thinking about the “downsides” of the device and take it.

I can't wait for her to get it because then I get her old 9.7 Pro. I think it's fair to say the move for my wife from the old to the new will be mega and I intend to trip it out for her, I'm a PC guy and I only have Apple hand-me-downs and is good that finally Apple is learning to play with the other kids. USB-C is what I'm referring to here, it's a start. Patrick, this is the educational iPad. The reason why they did not laminate the screen was because that if the screen breaks that means you have to buy a full screen, not just a glass which is what happens in the educational market. Also, the iPad pencil series one sold tremendously and would cost a lot of people a lot of money to buy another one, so Apple figured they reuse what they had for this market. I believe this was all for the educational, the kids, although the price has gone up.

Im torn between a iPad 10 or a Air 5, all i need it for is drawing and writing for study.
I wish the 2018 iPad Pros would be more affordable 2nd hand, but it doesnt seem to be worth it and better go for a new Air 5 instead.
And what i would do as well, but its by far not needed: using the iPad for watching movies, browser, youtube, probably editing photos and with a low chance gaming, but not anthing demanding.

It would be a good iPad for a kid, but the price is no longer kid friendly. I upgraded my youngest kids device from an iPad 8 to 9 for more base storage and the camera updates for FaceTime. After trading in the 8th gen i spent $100, so that was worth it. If I still had the 8 I would not be upgrading to the 10. Hopefully this is just a temporary price bump and we will get a budget friendly iPad next year when I may be ready to upgrade my kids iPad.

I have a 12 inch 3rd gen iPad pro, and the 4 gen air, like them both, but am thinking about switching the air to this iPad. Only because I use FaceTime all the time and really think the landscape camera is worth putting up with the slower processor and unlamented screen. But I think I will just wait to see if the next pro will switch to the landscape camera and upgrade then. But I will tell my mom to upgrade her 7th gen iPad and will do the same for my wife, because like me this iPad was made for how they use it.

I think that at this point apple needs to cut the SKU’s in the iPad lineup. Ditch the iPad 9, lower the price on this turd to $329, keep the iPad air and mini, ditch the 11” iPad pro, and keep the 12.9” iPad pro. The 11” iPad pro and 10.9” iPad air just have too much in common. That reduces things from 6 iPads to choose from down to 4 and draws the line for consumers on which I pad they want, need, or are willing and able to pay for.

I feel like this 10th generation iPad is perfect for university students. I hate both Apple Pencil 1 and 2, I prefer rectangular pens/pencils or cone-like ones (thinner at the bottom) so the Logitech Crayon USB-C was the one I picked. Hate that you HAVE to take most cases off to charge the Apple Pencil 2 or buy one that does not protect the edges of the iPad. Plus, in Europe it’s 579€ for the baseline iPad 10th and 770€ for the baseline iPad Air 5 (600€ for a refurbished or used iPad 4, so it’s not really an option here). I actually got it for 470€, and as a senior engineering student I don’t mind the non-laminated screen. Sooo given that the iPad Air 5’s cheapest price I found was 670€, I preferred saving myself the 200€ for differences in specs I won’t even use, as for my heavy duty programming and 3D software I use a huge, heavy and expensive gaming laptop. Sooo honestly, if you’re like me and will use it for note-taking/ scheming, like the new colors/camera placement and hate magnetic charging, the iPad 10th gen+ another usb-c supporting stylus is not a bad choice 😁 Hope my intake helps!

@@PatrickRambles I seriously considered the Mini 6, but decided on the iPad 9 for a variety of reasons: 1) Target user is 10 y/o, 2) Cost differential of $230.00. I was able to add an Apple Pencil 1, a pencil case, Omoton double hinged stand, male to female charging cable, Logitech K380 keyboard with Pebble mouse, ProCase, and a magnetic replacement charging cap for that amount. 3) Hopefully, the Mini 6 will be priced at ~$269 when it is time for a new iPad. Possible regrets: 1) The display on the Mini 6 is better, but I watched several videos of artists that made magnificent drawings on the iPad 9, 2) The A15 chip will outlast the A13, 3) not having USB-C. and 4) My daughter might prefer the size of the Mini 6. I hope not. That said, everything is a trade off. At the end of the day, this was an impulse buy. 🙂 I noticed my daughter really likes to draw on her iPhone SE 2020. I thought I would try to give her more options to keep drawing. I hope our tech works out for us all. 🙂

I am happy to see you. 😂🤣 Only if Apple could combine the 10th gen with the new pro model. they would have probably the perfect tablet. The new keyboard is not much different than the Logitech for the pro model. I would not like the kickstand after using the Magic Keyboard. Even with the function keys. Thanks again for a great review. Have a great weekend.
