    Thank you for this video!!! It took me a while to find how to remove the seat, Only diffence was I used a washer on top of socket. Turned out there was no O ring or screen on that seat.

    Great video! How can you resurface or clean a seat that isn’t removable?

    • @jbartelt2000
      @jbartelt2000  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a piece of brass rod machined to a 60 degree point and fine valve lapping compound. Next time i have to do one I will post a video.

    Can you watch the video called 95 Yamaha Virago needle seat removed and explain how you would do it? I'm trying to figure the best way to take it out. Thanks 👍

    • @jbartelt2000
      @jbartelt2000  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you referring to the Virago 535? If so that is one of the few I haven't worked on, but from what I can tell the easiest way would be to use a jack screw to push it out from the inside. It would definitely destroy the filter but shouldn't damage the seat or plug. If I find a set for a good price I will do a video.

    • @karlh4313
      @karlh4313 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbartelt2000 yes the 535. I was wondering how to pull it out to keep the plug there. Idk but yeah I think you're right and probably get a new o-ring for the plug. Thanks would definitely love to see a video of seeing it done both ways if possible 😁

    would this work for removing the seat from a 97 vmax carb? I used the manual to take apart and cleaned my carbs but there isn't any mention on how to remove the float needle seat. There is a visible brass cap on the opposite side of the seating but I see no way of removing it. Thank you

    • @jbartelt2000
      @jbartelt2000  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think this would work with vmax carbs. There isn't enough space in the carb bowl cavity to turn in the tap.

    • @idroolt6999
      @idroolt6999 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you end up removing it? I haven't got this far yet, but I'm rebuilding a set of vmax carbs so I'd like to know if I have trouble removing mine.

    I don't understand how this works. I assume your new replacement seat would screw in clockwise but you turned into the old stuck seat clockwise to remove it???

    • @jbartelt2000
      @jbartelt2000  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The seats on these carbs have no threads. They push in with an o-ring seal.

      @amathonn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbartelt2000 My bad. My old Zenith carb's seat is threaded and I assumed they're all threaded. Thank you or the fast reply!

    • @JackMcvoy

      You are using the tap to thread the seat..then using a bolt and nut like a puller.....

  • @BugsWisely
    @BugsWisely 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On a '94 535xv that's not possible. One of those sideways Mikunis with the float pin hard mounted to the body.. Plus the seat comes out the other way. Just saying.

    • @karlh4313
      @karlh4313 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you have to punch them out you'll destroy the filter but not the seat or plug but will have to get new o-ring for plug and punch it in to hold then I'm guessing put new one in from inside bowl with a punch till it's down to fit.. I'm not sure I just commented and he gave me some ideas but I'm going to try mine and see which way the seat goes back in. Unless you take the filter off and put it in from the outside where the plug is punch it in till it stops maybe 🤔 and put filter and plug in.. 🤔🤔🤔
