    We are back with an actual (exciting!) episode after last week's fiasco and it's a great one.
    The highly requested Vass Budapest Brand is finally here in the form of my first MTO. A gorgeous Austerity Brogue on the U Last with a leather sole, lasted shoe trees and metal toe tips.
    In the video I talk about the leather, fit, availability, price and value so I recommend you watch the entire in-depth review. But I can tell you I highly recommend Vass for those that look for a handmade shoe or value in the shoe industry.

    I have lots of Vass ( probably too many) so excited to see this review. Beautiful shoes, lots of character, , lots of value ( lasted shoe trees and JR soles) and great construction, but fit and comfort can be tricky. My favorite are my Bordeaux Museum Wingtips on the U-last. Definite lady killers.

    I made a miserabel experience with vass Budapest: i bought an Adelaide with wingtip and Medaillon. As they punch every hole by hand mistakes can happen and did: the holes were set as by a drunken craftsman. I wrote them several times, no answer. My local bespoke craftman told me if his apprentice worked like this, he had to start the shoes by new. Tip for TH-camrs: Review more brogues, thats were quick and sloppy work reveals itself. For example Meermin would never ever had this much positive reviews if their brogues were in focus..

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for sharing your experience.
      Actually, If you see my Meermin Review you will see it is quite scathing. The same goes for the Review I did for Heinrich Dinkelacker, where a 1200$ shoe had quite sloppy broguing.
      Unfortunately I cannot comment on your experience as mine was overwhelmingly positive. It's still important to give them feedback so if they don't answer, in all honesty you can leave a public review somewhere like google or their facebook group. It's important for consumers to see the other side of the coin too!

    There is a certain charm to the overall look of the shoe. The handlasted nature of the shoe creates a less perfectly streamlined silhouette, and the hand cut broguing isn't perfectly spaced and patterned.
    My best analogy would be comparing repeating tile textures in video games to real life. Vass somehow looks less clinical.

    I pulled the trigger last week for 2 pairs Budapest on the P2 last dark brown suede and Alt English II on the K last in dark museum. I can agree with what Costas said about sizing and everything else in the review. The budapest i picked in uk 9(43 Vass size) which they fit well, but my strange right foot(which is wider than my left) gets some pressure in the toes on the edge of the shoe and in the wing area. However, today i worn them for the first time, the pressure wans’t that bad, it’s bearable, my feet dont hurt at the end of the day. Hope to break into the right shoe and get more comfortable.
    The alt english i just tried them on last night and the problem is still in my right foot, but the “V” on the lacing closes more than in other oxford i own, like carmina 813 (forrest last 9 1/2 uk ).
    Hope i wans’t too boring and this will help others who have issues with VASS lasts.
    Have a good evening everyone!

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Kotchilla
    @Kotchilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd be interested to know how you do it with the fit of your shoes. So, finding the right last for your foot is hard, right. Many then opt for half a number larger, even if the last is simply wrong, or they go the other way around and go down half a number. And especially when buying online, it's extremely difficult. Do you tend to go for the tighter shoe and then wear it until it softens due to moisture and movement, or how do you decide and go about it?

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it is a good question in general.
      However, it is extremely easy for me to find my size now on most brands. I have a lot of shoes and a wealth of information, plus I run my own online shoe store at The Noble Shoe with a lot of customer data on fit. I don't go for snug or tight anymore, it's bad for foot health. I want a nice comfy fit.
      Depending on the brand you are interested in, there's quite often a lot of discussions on public forums but regardless of that I recommend talking to the customer service of each shop as it's their job to help you find the correct fit. You would be surprised how many people I "save" every week from making the wrong choice in my shoes!

    • @Kotchilla
      @Kotchilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MisiuAcademy Thank you for your reply. Another question. I like dress shoes but also sneakers. Summer is coming and from luxury brands only few make sneakers. Carlos Santos for example. Can you maybe do a review on sneakers as well? I think it will interest very many out there. Maybe also asking why Carlos Santos doesn't offer sneakers in white and why Common Projects are cheap sneakers that are totally overpriced. Thank you.

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are welcome. The only 3 pairs of sneakers I have are Carlos Santos. Unfortunately, if I did a "review" it would be heavily biased as I sell them in my shop.
      Regardless, I find them comfortable and good looking especially with a patina. Carlos Santos and others CAN make white sneakers. Their decisions are based on data and commercial performance. 200$ is still a decent amount of money for white sneakers. The only way to get them would be if a retailer stocked them. Nobody sent me a mail in the 2 years of my shop's existence asking for white sneakers though.
      As for Common Projects, I am sure they are good sneakers but not in a million years would I pay 400$+ for them. You have to remember that the more famous a company is, the bigger their overhead and marketing costs. Add inflation to the mix and prices keep going up. They also use certain components you will not see unless you cut them in half, explaining the premium price. They are not bad by any means, but I never understood people spending so much for a pair of plain sneakers.
