Once again your info/advice is top shelf! Never thought I would pull the trigger on a pair over 1k but, I've finally bought a pair of Edward Green's Black Chelsea Cap-toe.
Being a shoe enthusiast, I watched your shoe videos - thank you, great research, super informative content! Perhaps you could do a video on good, quality shoes for those of us with hard-to-fit feet. Some of us get stuck in the Allen Edmonds box because they make shoes that fit but would love to find other shoemakers that can accommodate a wider variety of widths.
Hey Greg, thanks for watching and I’m glad you like the content. That’s a great idea for a video actually. I’m lucky to have regular E width feet so I have to do some real research but I’m up to it. I’ll keep you posted!
Bro, your break downs are spot on. It's a pleasure learning from you. Keep up the excellent work. Btw, to answer your question towards the end, the desk is the better location, although from time to time the couch will do as well. Well Done!

You look more comfortable at the desk. Thanks for asking, hahahahaha.....Keep up the great showings. I am 65 and totally into men's fashion. I spent 10 years at a men's haberdashery in upstate NY when i was younger, the most fun I have ever had. You have a great channel.
Thanks to you I ordered a beautiful pair of Vass Alt. English in Gold Museum Calf on the F Last *for only $400!!! That feels like such a steal* (Supposed to be here in 2 days) All thanks to you, I'll send you pics!
New here and thank you for a FRESH perspective on shoe makers, and for me, who usually sticks to British namesakes, a lot of new names. Really happy to have had the ol’ TH-cam algorithm pair me with you and I look forward to viewing your regular content. This said my incoming still remains Carlos santos jodhpurs, Shoe Passion 688 boots and C&J Chukkas; feel free to add or change my mind haha
I’m guesssing the 1k-2k range is part 3 and maybe the final installment. And Edward green and John Lobb will be on the list Is church’s or Alden on your list for any of them?

Thank you and you’re right about those brands. I considered them but I didn’t want to make the video too long so I ended up cutting them out cause I feel like they cater more to casual wear such as boots and derbies as opposed to Oxfords. But I’m a fan of both brands.
Thank you for sharing, finally you are getting AM soon :) enjoy the shoes! I am thinking on getting EB soon as well, although I need to think hard as I only have 7 days a week haha
I am interested in trying out a couple of these, i.e. Enzo Bonafe and Gaziano and Girling. But, since there are no stores stateside, how did you go about figuring out your sizing?
99% of my shoes have been purchased without trying them on although I knew my Carmina size, so I went off of that when I started buying shoes. Luckily I know my take the same size in all my shoes. I would first recommend that you have a good understanding of your feet as far as the instep and arch and go from there.
I purchased a pair from Altan Bottier and they were so beautiful I didn't want to wear them. Their price points are kind of all over the place ($4,000- $500) but most of their oxfords are under $700.
I appreciate you, Tony! Thanks for supporting the channel and I’m glad you like the content. P.S. That video has received a lot of views in the past 48 hours. Can you tell me how you discovered it?
@@v_r_ Hi, I can only assume the youtube algorithm picked out your channel on my YT feed as I follow other channels such as Gentleman's Gazette, Trenton and Heath and Elegant Oxford...amongst others...
Very good breakdown for consideration of quality choice as well style. I can’t remember exact favorite but at least three I liked and will write down to do more research on their shoes styles. First I’ll have to rewatch the video, but I saved it to rewatch anyway. I watched all 3 shoe vids in price range in the playlist so lots of shoes to research. But my next pair will be in the $300-500 range and I already know my two choices from the video you did in that range. I did appreciate seeing all the shoes too.
Nice follow up video!!! While I don't currently own a pair, Im saving to buy the Bader and Churchhill as a Christmas gift to myself. Oh by the way thank you.. I recently bought a suit from Spier and Mackay (Matte medium gray) and saved $50 using your discount code.
Thanks, fam! I’m glad you like the video. Those are some good choices too, G&G is a good shoemaker. And that’s what’s up on the S&M suit, let me know how you like it.
Hey Brent, not quite. I have one where I briefly cover round and square lasts but it’s not as detailed as I’d like. Check it out and let me know what you think 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/xoSZhOC5yr0/w-d-xo.html
What’s up, George? I have no experience with them and none of the shoe enthusiasts whose words I trust have either. I’ve only ever seen them on TH-cam, unfortunately. I tend to favor Goodyear welted and hand-welted shoes though.
Great video! Under which range are the Edward Green, John Lobb, Joseph Cheaney, Foster & Sons, Riccardo Bestetti shoes, Stefano Bemer, Saint Crspins, Berluti, George Cleverley, Corthay???
My apologies for responding late, I'm just seeing this comment. But most of those brands would be in the higher echelon of shoes above 1k. I'll be making a video on those as well.
Vladimir Riché thanks mate I’ve been looking for someone to review or talk about the Bestetti shoes, I think those are very low profile but a piece of art and craftsmanship, very aggressive last and perfect detailing.
I'm headed to Budapest next year for my 25th wedding anniversary. My goal is to order a pair of Vass (probably museum calf on the F last), have them shipped here, and wear them back to the place from which they originated. I'll of course be wearing them on our anniversary diner cruise on the Danube.
Hey Dave, first and foremost Congrats to you and yours on your upcoming 25th anniversary. That’s a huge number, especially in this day and age. Second, that’s great and you can’t go wrong with the F last. I want to take a trip to Budapest myself. Not only have I heard that it’s a beautiful city, but also because I want to get fitted in person and make some adjustments as the F last (my favorite) is sadly not a great fit for my feet. Do you know what style and what shade of Museum Calf you’re leaning towards yet?
Vladimir I love your vids and this is the best so far. I few thoughts: 1) I am Italian with a menswear background, with your hand-talk and humour I am more concerned that if you go to Italy they well love you so much that they well not let you leave. 2, I have a few Allen Edmonds in my collection but like you I find them a little stodgy. I have both Merman that are available on the Hero-eee last. Love your comments on TLP Majorca and want to try the made to order program. I want to do a lot of walking on these shoes, can you give me advise on how to get a great fit and tones of comfort? TY
I thought the couch was more relaxed and those moments of reflection on the couch lol 😂 . The desk is more formal. Either way the info and quality of the channel is fantastic.
Thanks for making us aware of a couple of new shoe brands going to enjoy checking them out .By the way Hugo Jacomet Parisian Gentlemen web site has just posted an article about Spier and Mackey and very positive it was too.I like to think they may have got the idea of the article from watching you.Great content as usual cheers.
Just FYI Alden does have a plain black captoe Model 907 on the Hampton last about 549 dollars. They are a round toe similar to Vass Budhapest. Enjoy your vids Vlad!
Vladamir, I appreciate the video and content you are putting out. I tried to find the Vass Budapest website (as you mentioned in the video that it is possible to buy directly from their website), but I was not able to find the manufacturers website. Can you help me out and post the website? If this is no longer possible, then what is the best way to obtain Vass Budapest shoes in the US? Regards, Bernard
Thank you! Alden is a dope brand. In my opinion, they’re more of a casual shoes/boots brand as opposed to dress shoes which is what the countdown is based upon. I know that they do have a couple dress shoes but nothing that I look at and say I want those. If that makes sense.
Hey Vladimir, great video! I really like the suit you are wearing. Could you please let me know the brand/fabric? Also how would you describe the colour? I am looking to get one made in the same colour..
Hey Patrick, the fabric is a Navy sharkskin from Filarte. The code is TRA019. It’s a nice Blue, they call it Navy but I’d say it’s slightly lighter than a true Navy. I hope that helps.
The quality for that particular fabric from Filarte is decent but I’m sure that you can find better quality Sharkskin depending on your budget. I’ve had that one made a few years ago and it’s an entry level fabric.
Great video as always Vladamir!! I picked up the Crockett & Jones chukka boot " Tetbury" and the quality is phenomenal . Aiming to purchase Vass next :) If you have high instep and wider foot , which last from Vass works best ?
What’s up, Steven? For a wider foot and a higher instep, I’d recommend the R or the Peter 2. I have a high instep myself but regular width, so the F works for me. I hope that helps.
I think they’re just high fashion brands and you’re just paying for the name. I always go to artisans that specialize in a certain field as opposed to one who does everything.
Interesting choice, I would rank AM finish (Argentum at least) above both EB and Vass for sure and as good as mainline GG. Though Argentum would be AW, with HW it would go above $1k I suppose
Recent subscriber. I love the high-quality content. When you order from the retailers Skoaktibolager and the Sabot, do they return if the fit is not right?
Thank you very much for all your blogs that i apprecuate and wait a lot. I would like to know If you plan a subject about the french brand j m Weston and his excellent quality. Also could you join the website to order some brands like bonafe, mecariello, vass, joe works because we don't find those shoes in France.the retailers are not understandable. Sorry for my english. See you soon Karim from Paris
Curious why you rated Joe Works #6 but you really liked the shoes from them you have? I really like their bluchers on the last #6 and thinking about ordering a pair.
I know they’d be in a different price category, but what are your thoughts on Berluti? They make beautiful shoes, but do you feel they are worth the money? I can’t recall ever seeing them on a top 10 list
Interesting question, Robert! Berluti undoubtedly makes nice shoes. Whether or not they’re worth it would solely depend on your preference. Personally, I wouldn’t but that’s only because there are so many other brands in that price range that I prefer.
Great content as always. Question. Vlad, do you size up, down, or buy your equivalent US size in Vass' F last? I just checked out Vass' online store. They have some great prices. Good looking out.
Thanks, bro! Vass sizing is tricky in general but the fact that they use Euro sizes instead of UK like most shoemakers is another issue. I wear a 7 UK (8 US) in all the brands that I buy, so with Vass, I first tried a 41 cause I heard that was the equivalent to 7 UK but it was too big. I then tried 40.5 and it fits much better but the shoes gape at the ankles. They’re the only brand/last that I’ve ever used that does that. I’m sorry for writing a book but I hope that helps. Vass is really one of these brands that I would highly recommend that you try on first if at all possible. If not then just keep in mind that you may have to ship them back at your cost if they don’t fit.
nice that your shoe trees match. I don't have any shoes this expensive, I am happy to have $350 to $450 dollar shoes. The shoes I own are FootJoy and Allen Edmonds,
Eventually I’m gonna get a Vass, after buying some TLB and Meermin. Thanks for the info! Just a question Vladimir. Do you know what’s the shoe on the video thumbnail or it’s just a stock image? It has a beautiful silhouette
What’s up, Felipe? The shoe in the thumbnail is a punched cap toe from Enzo Bonafè on their 804 last. That pic is 4 years-old, so I’m not sure if any store is selling that particular model but you can always order it custom.
When you say Vass is handmade as opposed to GY welted, what does that mean as far as resoling? Regarding the desk vs the couch, desk 100%. Couch was awkward. Awesome content as always, thank you!!!
Good question, when it comes time for a resole, it’s pretty much the same because 99% of cobblers will just resole it using a Goodyear machine even if the shoes were handwelted. And thanks for your kind words.
Any word on the Antonio Meccariellos? I've been eying them for a while but their long production time and clunky website are the only things stopping me from grabbing a pair.
One of the best, bro. I don’t own a pair personally yet but a few of my friends do, so I’ve had a chance to see them up close. As nice as the pictures are on his Instagram, they look even better up close.
Vladimir Riché not really. I got MTOs for 850USD and all are cordovan. They are amazing makers even if I compare C&J, GG for the leather and craftmanship.
My brother, you don’t think I know that there’s some Carmina shoes that cost that much? The fact that I’m stating is Carmina starts at $475, you can’t argue with that fact.
CNES are making great shoes for under 300 euros. Probably the best price to quality ration on the market right now. I wouldn t be shocked if they retailed for 500+
At the time of this video, Carmina retailed for $450. They're included in my video called 'Top 10 Shoes (Between $300 and $500)'. Check it out here 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/r4IKzN5Dgvk/w-d-xo.html
It's categorized as a $500+ to a $1000.00 shoes because $300 -$500 includes taxes however $500+ is before taxes..... But a great list of nice shoes for gentlemen who walks with style
Thanks, Daryl! Unfortunately, the hand movements are just part of the package. Hopefully, the content is good enough to keep you coming back to watch but I can’t change who I am nor do I want to. Sorry!
Carmina is my favorite. I have cognac/chestnut wingtips (my favorites) black captoe oxfords forest last, captoe oxford burgundy rain last. So suttle but men who dress everyday always stop me to comment on them.
That’s tough to say. A lot of them source their leathers from the same tanneries but it all boils down on how picky each shoe brand is and how much of the leather they actually use. Edward Green is a brand that’s known for having top quality leather for example.
I think I might be reading #3 Antonio meccariello price points wrong they look like they have shoes in the 30k and up price point if I'm looking at the wrong site plz send correct site
Hey good video man, I like your style. But in my opinion, if you haven’t owned and worn a shoe from a brand, it does not belong on any of your personal “best of” list. I’ve purchased shoes based on online photos and based on lists of features, only to be sorely disappointed once I had the shoes in hand (and/or on foot).
I hear you, man but I’ve never based my list just off what I see online. I either own them, recommended them to my clients and they’re happy with them or I’ve heard positive things from people that I trust with more knowledge than me. I think it’s asinine that I had to have worn a shoe to have an opinion on it. Hope that helps.
Let me know, who's your favorite shoemaker at this price point?
Church. U k !!!
Church makes nice shoes. I have heard that the quality used to be better but I’m not sure how true that is.
Santoni and Barker are also worthy . Beyond four figures the sky is the limit...Stefano Bemer, Freccia Bestetti etc....
Exactly! There’s no shortage of excellent shoemakers at the 1k+ price point. Eventually, I’ll make a video on that too.
@@v_r_ Unfortunately, their quality plummeted once Prada bought them out, I'm sorry to say. I have a vintage pair which is quite wonderful.
I agree with you...Enzo Bonafe is hands down my favorite shoemaker!!!!!
Once again your info/advice is top shelf! Never thought I would pull the trigger on a pair over 1k but, I've finally bought a pair of Edward Green's Black Chelsea Cap-toe.

What’s up, Steven? For a wider foot and a higher instep, I’d recommend the R or the Peter 2. I have a high instep myself but regular width, so the F works for me. I hope that helps.
Vladimir Riché thanks for the reply and the insight on sizing for Vass. Hope all is well in your world Sir.
You’re very welcome! Let me know how things work out!
I'm from Africa( a french colony) and I'm really proud to see a brother talk about dressing shoes.you should chec John lobb and J.M.Westone
What’s up, Yaya? John Lobb is definitely on my list but not my price range yet. Which country in Africa are you from?
@@v_r_ ivory coast
Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮 🙌🏾🙌🏾
What do you think about big brands like Gucci and YSL?
I think they’re just high fashion brands and you’re just paying for the name. I always go to artisans that specialize in a certain field as opposed to one who does everything.
What do you think of Carmina shoes?
I think highly of them 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/r4IKzN5Dgvk/w-d-xo.html
Interesting choice, I would rank AM finish (Argentum at least) above both EB and Vass for sure and as good as mainline GG. Though Argentum would be AW, with HW it would go above $1k I suppose
I agree! With what I know now, I would put AM ahead of both and EB ahead of Vass.
Recent subscriber. I love the high-quality content. When you order from the retailers Skoaktibolager and the Sabot, do they return if the fit is not right?
Thank you! And yes they do accept returns, you have to pay for the shipping.
Do you know about saint crispins? What are you thoughts on those?
St.C are fire, bro. Definitely on my #ShoeGoals list.
See you soon Karim from Paris
nice video...First time seeing this video!!
Curious why you rated Joe Works #6 but you really liked the shoes from them you have? I really like their bluchers on the last #6 and thinking about ordering a pair.
I really want a gaziano and girling. Out of my budget as a Post grad student though.
I’m not a post grad student and I can’t afford it either, bro LOL
Great channel
Subscribed.
Thank you, I appreciate the support!
Nice video, thank you,
Desk Talk! Keep it!
@@v_r_ Thanks for your response. I understand. And, I have no problem with the length of your response. I'll think about what I'll do.
Cool, good luck!
nice that your shoe trees match. I don't have any shoes this expensive, I am happy to have $350 to $450 dollar shoes. The shoes I own are FootJoy and Allen Edmonds,
Love my Allen Edmonds. Got mine from their outlet online store
@@bangurowned me too, better value than ebay often. I just got my first pair of Trickers - hand made - at their outlet store. thank you Jesus!
Vladimir Riché Wow , thanks a lot for the answer
You’re welcome!
Hey brother, would you be kind to try and make a review of JM Weston brand ? Thanks
What’s good, Beejay? JMW makes nice shoes but I don’t own a pair. If I ever get my hands on one, I’ll definitely review it.
Nice watch.
Thank you, Doug!
@@v_r_ I followed up with them by email. I am hoping to see if I can work out my sizing and place an order if they have a RTW version available.
The desk is boss
Thanks, bro! I like it too.
why not carmina ? Plus there are good retailers with cordovan such as alden, allen edmonds
Carmina is under $500, fam!
Im a fan of English shoe maker.....CandJ,s and Joseph Cheaneys....at this price range
All great brands. Hard to go wrong with C&J and Cheaney.
What about TLB Mallorca, I believe they belong to this category.
What about Stefano Bemer?
Can you comment on Bally shoes from Italy and Bruno Magli.
Player how about Carmina ?
Carmina costs $475. They’re on this countdown of shoes between $300 and $500 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/r4IKzN5Dgvk/w-d-xo.html
HEY HOW ARE U DOING MY BROTHER QUESTION ,WHAT ABOUT John lobb ,berluti ,JM WESTON ,CHURCHS AND ALDEN .......
What’s up, Yannick? Those are all fine brands. Eventually, I’ll make a video on shoes over $1,000 and will mention some of those brands.
Baudoin and Lange ?
I have he pair of each Alden and churchies the feel so comfortable
CNES are making great shoes for under 300 euros. Probably the best price to quality ration on the market right now. I wouldn t be shocked if they retailed for 500+
When will you do a 1000+ video? That I would want to see, out of my budget right now, but it would be cool to dream.
What’s up, Andrew? That’s on my short list, I just don’t really have a timeframe but it’s coming.
Expand it to 10. Carmina should be here.
SF tramezza line is also very good value at less than $1k.
At the time of this video, Carmina retailed for $450. They're included in my video called 'Top 10 Shoes (Between $300 and $500)'. Check it out here 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/r4IKzN5Dgvk/w-d-xo.html
👍
It's categorized as a $500+ to a $1000.00 shoes because $300 -$500 includes taxes however $500+ is before taxes..... But a great list of nice shoes for gentlemen who walks with style
Another great video. Work on keeping the hands down
Thanks, Daryl! Unfortunately, the hand movements are just part of the package. Hopefully, the content is good enough to keep you coming back to watch but I can’t change who I am nor do I want to. Sorry!
This is generally my price range for shoes. Occasionally I will go over the 1000 mark but not as regular thing.
That’s my sweet spot as well. A lot of quality in that bracket.
Carmina is my favorite. I have cognac/chestnut wingtips (my favorites) black captoe oxfords forest last, captoe oxford burgundy rain last. So suttle but men who dress everyday always stop me to comment on them.
Who has the best Leather quality amongst all of the shoes brands?
That’s tough to say. A lot of them source their leathers from the same tanneries but it all boils down on how picky each shoe brand is and how much of the leather they actually use. Edward Green is a brand that’s known for having top quality leather for example.
@@v_r_ ok I feel you. Now the million Dollar question, what about comfort, especially when it comes to being on your feet 8-12hrs?
Can you comment on shoes for loding. Please make a video
I’m familiar with Loding but have never seen them in person or know anyone who has a pair, unfortunately!
I think I might be reading #3 Antonio meccariello price points wrong they look like they have shoes in the 30k and up price point if I'm looking at the wrong site plz send correct site
30k? I’d say you’re probably on the wrong site. Check them out here 👉🏾 www.meccarielloshoes.it/product-category/ready-to-wear/
@@v_r_ 491,80€ + VAT yea bro I'm so sorry I can't understand what is in US Dollars 🤷🏽♂️ looks like the price of a whole car
I know what you mean. What you do is, just copy and paste the price into Google and replace the comma with a period. So 491.80€ is about $535.
@@v_r_ wow okay makes way more sense now I was fena say. Thanks man I appreciate that there shoes look amazing!!!
You’re welcome, bro!
V...i think these days $500 and up is the todays standard for a well built pair of kicks
What’s up, Kenny? I respectfully disagree. A lot of excellent shoemakers in the $350 to $500 price range.
MEZLANS SHOES?
I like more classic looking shoes, so I’m not a fan. Nothing wrong with them from what I can see, just not for me.
Those hand gestures probably killed this guy's entire channel
Where is Mr. Riché?
Churchs????
